Since BTW is aggressive, they tend to put the other team's wing defenders in foul trouble. When one tends to get beat off of the dribble, even when playing zone, one tends to reach and getr called for foulls, espescially as a teenager. However, there are 8 teams with good records in this tournament. There are no slouches. It's time to put up or shut up, as the old folks use to say.

2020 AAA State Tournament Bracket

I didn't mean anything cryptic or anything like that. BTW is a well oiled machine. They are a small ball squad with every guard being able to score. They play really good man-to-man defense and they have a pretty deep bench to spell their main guys. They will turn teams over and score easy baskets. They've played some stiff out-of-conference competition to prepare them for the post season. Yeah, they can be beat, but it is going to take a really talented and well coached team that plays 40 minutes with a low percentage of TOs to beat them. They are built for this. The game of basketball is a game of runs. They excell at creating runs for themselves. Speed kills, and they have serial killer speed. Hack-a-shack on the guy in the post huh? Like I said ... That's one line of thought.

I don't agree with the handle part. BTW is legit. They aren't MM from back in the day, but your favorite team/fan base can underestimate them at your/their own peril.

He's different. He is being groomed to be a 6'-7" pg. That has always been how he has been handled, even when he played at East with coach Penny and James Wiseman. He came off the bench as a 6'-6" pg to relieve Alex Lomax when he was a freshman back in the day when they won the state title during Penny's last season there.

Last year was his 1st at WHS. He was the HC at Hamilton HS some years back when his two eldest sons played there with him. HHS went to back-to-back championships getting the runner-up trophy the 1st year and the gold ball the next. As a HC, he has coached two different high schools to two gold and a silver.

Those MM teams were coached by Faragi Phillips who is now on the Vanderbilt staff. However, those two A Memphis area teams are pretty tough, especially BTW. Two of their 3 losses on the season came at the hands of AAA Whitehaven. They played Whitehaven three (3) times this year, and won one of them. Whitehaven is a veteran team that is in the AAA state tournament this season. Behind closed doors or not, that BTW team has some DAWGS on it and they are ready to roll.

I like that. Let teams from the same area get away from each other, and let's see what they can do!
