  1. Congrats to the UT 3!
  2. Congrats to all of the above mentioned.
  3. Yeah ... long story not to be published in this forum. However, the lack of a goal line 'heavy package' is well known.
  4. Owlbooster: What on Earth are you talking about when referencing one of MY posts? I think you have ME confused with someone else when it comes to blaming refs for anything. Unless you are referencing the tucked uniform tirade I went on a few years back. Then, yeah I'm guilty of going after refs ... that incident would get the same response from me if it were to happen again.
  5. YW. I'm here because I'm a HS football fan like everyone else on here. When there is a Memphis team to support, I try to represent because most Memphis schools don't have any representation on here.
  6. Good season Wooddale. Great win Covington.
  7. Good season Fairley. Good game Peabody.
  8. The shot at Whitehaven fans was unnecessary. I'll leave it at that.
  9. One final word. My hat is off to the Houston OC. Whitehaven stayed in the 50 and took away Pare's effectiveness and Houston dialed up the passing game. For the most part they didn't try to force anything down field but kept the passes short. They have an exceptional QB and a very good WR corp. They executed it to perfection. Their OL was in max protection all night. The Houston OC is Very good.
  10. Yes he's is! #2 and #3 are legit as well. UT is getting 3 good ones.
  11. Bingo! We Whitehaven fans have been harping on this all year, and even longer for some. I've tried to defend the OC at times myself.
  12. Nothing "so called" about them or their performance last night. All three played exceptionally well last night. They showed up! They don't play offense, well one plays WR at times, and he caught the one pass thrown to him, but due to an inept offense, they were on the field waaaaay to long, and still held that very potent offense to 27 points and relegated that particularly dynamic RB to 129 yds. They did their jobs well.
  13. Well, we didn't have any illegal man down field penalties. But, other than that, the OL didn't show up. We can't get into the red zone and not come away with TDs, or FGs for that matter. WRs stayed at Whitehaven last night. I lost count of catchable passes that just were NOT caught. I'll give props to #80. He was literally one-handed last night due to an injury sustained to his left hand in the prior game and he still made plays and caught passes. The defense did their job. It's time for a new OC. Good season Whitehaven. Good game Houston.
  14. Takeaways: It's Houston offense vs. Whitehaven defense; ECS-Lausanne winner in title game Khari Thompson, Memphis Commercial AppealPublished 2:09 p.m. CT Nov. 16, 2019 | Updated 2:48 p.m. CT Nov. 16, 2019 Here are five take aways from Week 2 of the TSSAA high school football playoffs. Whitehaven, Houston play Friday It's time for Lincoln Pare and Houston's prolific offense to take on Bryson Eason and Whitehaven's dominating defense. The Mustangs have scored 44 or more eight times. The Tigers have posted seven shutouts. Last year, Whitehaven eliminated Houston with a 31-27 road victory. MUS is last local team standing in DII-AAA MUS held on for a 35-28 win over Knoxville Catholic after jumping out to a 28-7 first-half lead. The Owls advance to take on MBA, which beat MUS 14-7 on Sept. 20. Briarcrest lost 35-33 to Ensworth despite four touchdowns from Mr. Football semifinalist Jabari Small. It was the Saints' eighth semifinal loss in a row. Christian Brothers lost 28-6 to McCallie. Winner of ECS-Lausanne goes to Cookeville ECS and Lausanne advanced to play each other in the DII-AA semifinals. The Lynx eliminated the Eagles in last year's second round. This year, ECS beat Lausanne 21-14 during the regular season. It was ECS' second-lowest scoring performance of the year behind Friday night's win over former coach Jonas Rodriguez and BGA. Wooddale, Covington set for Class 3A showdown Wooddale and Covington each won their second-round games by less than a touchdown. Covington appeared in the last two Class 3A state title games, falling to Alcoa both times. Wooddale lost in last year's first round. Fairley knocks out Union City Fairley rolled to a 34-6 second-round win over Union City — the team that eliminated the Bulldogs in the second round this year. Next comes a matchup with undefeated Peabody, which has yet to allow a point in the postseason.
  15. It's star Houston RB Lincoln Pare vs. Whitehaven's 3 Tennessee Vols LB commitments in 6A quarterfinals Khari Thompson, Memphis Commercial AppealPublished 2:52 p.m. CT Nov. 21, 2019 When Houston and Whitehaven take the field Friday night, all eyes will be on the matchup between the state's best Class 6A running back and three of the state's premier linebacker prospects who are committed to play for the Tennessee Vols. Houston senior Lincoln Pare has rushed for 2,522 yards and 32 touchdowns, 10 of which have come in the first two playoff games for Mustangs (12-0). He recently received his first FBS offer from Navy, and was offered a preferred walk-on spot at Virginia Tech. Eason, French and McDonald combined for 162 tackles during the regular season, including 24 tackles for loss. All three are committed to Tennessee. Houston, which is averaging 44.8 points, scored more points in last week's 55-20 win over White Station than Whitehaven (10-1) has given up all season. The Tigers have the fewest points allowed average in the state at 3.5 per game. "That's the first earmark of our defense, being able to stop the run, so it will be a test of wills on Friday." Whitehaven coach Rodney Saulsberry said. "We hang our hats on being able to stop the run and they hang their hat on being able to run the football, so we'll see which one moves." Pare and Eason are two of the three finalists for the Class 6A Mr. Football award. Pare scored five touchdowns and rushed for 287 yards last week. He had a pair of touchdowns last season when Whitehaven beat Houston 31-27 in the second round. "Last year, we were really uptempo and we got them tired," Pare said. "I think that we got bodies on them and that's what we need to do this year and get people into space." Eason and French combined for 19 tackles in a 13-0 shutout win over Central last week. It was Whitehaven's seventh shutout of the year. Houston coach James Thomas said that the Tiger defense will be "by far" the best defense the Mustangs have faced. Houston Mustangs Lincoln Pare runs the ball across the end zone line for a touchdown during the first half of the White Station Spartans versus the Houston Mustangs play off game on November 2, 2018, in Germantown Tennessee. (Photo: Ariel Cobbert, The Commercial Appeal) "It's their speed, their scheme, and their athleticism. When they get to the ball there's two or three of them and they're trying to rip the ball out," Thomas said. "They're doing things normal defenses don't do. They get hands on balls, tipped balls, and when the ball is in the air they're hungry for it so they create turnovers." Whitehaven scored 31 or more points in three of its five postseason games last year on the way to the state championship game. "I think it's going to be a lot less scoring. All props to my bro Lincoln Pare, but it's like he's Superman and we're the kryptonite and that will be that on that," Eason said. Saulsberry said that the biggest difference is the Tigers' improved defensive line. "Our defensive line is playing so much better," Saulsberry said. "My hat goes off to those guys — Zyon Walker, Jared Bradley, Richard Ellis and Alexander Whitmore. The defensive line play has been tremendous and we need them to continue that." Thomas, who led Houston to the quarterfinals in his first year last season, said that the team has a better understanding of his offensive system, allowing it to go deeper into the playbook. "We can execute a lot of different things," Thomas said. "We can throw it a little bit better this year. Lincoln (Pare) has gotten better. The offensive line understands what I'm doing with them. Like I said, we're playing really well right now, they're (Whitehaven) playing really well right now, so it will be a heck of a ballgame." The winner will travel to Williamson county next week to face the winner of the Ravenwood-Brentwood game in the Class 6A semifinals. 16. He's one of the three Whitehaven LBs to commit to UT. Bryson Eason (6'-2", 250 lb. ILB), Martavious French (6'-3", 240 lb. ILB), & Tamarion McDonald (6'-2", 225 lb. OLB/S/WR/P)
  17. This game happened last year in the 2nd round. It was a very competitive game then. I don't see that changing.
  18. Indeed. However, the Whitehaven candidate is going to need some help!
  19. Man this Friday is going to be one hard hitting affair.
  20. The Whitehaven/Houston game has two Mr. Football finalists in it as well. However, that matchup will put the candidate from Houston, who is a stud RB against the candidate from Whitehaven, who is a stud ILB.
  21. Fairley's D is going to have their hands full. But we knew that already.
