  1. The biggest suprise I have seen so far this year is the play of that super soph. at Anderson County, Ashley Pittman. She is definitely an impact player who is tall with long arms and athletic. I think she is leading the Lady Mavs in PPG and near the top in rebounding and all this coming off the bench. Keep up the good work.
  2. You are a clown Sparrow. I agree with HighVoltage. What is your problem with AC?
  3. yo lollipop dude...ur stupid for having the name is the first place ...and ur really stupid for putting sc out...if they make it past the 1st round//? are u serious..ur talkin about the 2002 state champs..and they made it to state last year only to fall short...and ur saying if they make it past the 1st round? well they did..and i admit Powell is one of the better teams in the state but sc is even better...they have been there and done that many times throughout the years...Powell has been on a slide lately and i dont look for them to get back up quick enough for sc....sc will be to much to handle with there press.....im calling sc by 10....and ill even say that sc will play Oak Ridge in the champ. now that will be a real game there! Well the real question is who looks stupid now. Strike one for the Lollipop Kid. I guess the folks from the mountains will have to go back to sitting on the front porch and watching basketball on TV. Powell won the big one and so did Cait the Great and Heritage. From this point on all Powell and Heritage have to do is follow the yellow brick road to the state tournament. My pick for the finals (and I hate to pick against my home school) but heritage will win in a close one.
  4. You must have a crystal ball locked up in your closet to make such bold picks in this region. I can't believe that you would discount the Lady Panthers, one of the best teams in the state. SCHS, if they get out of the first round, won't stand a chance against the Lady Panthers. As for "Cait the Great" don't be so flippant with your titles. She is a superb athlete and will easily take apart the Lady Wildcats. Cait is one of the best athletes ever in the state of Tennessee, and she will have a better career than any of those pretenders from Middle and West TN. Geno's just chompin' at the bit thinking about the next Diana that will skip k-town and head north to the frozen tundra.
  5. Lake City is always invited to the large school meeting and welcome to take part. They could be competitive with the large school teams and I think it would benefit the girls going on to play in high school, but they choose not to. We, the large schools, would welcome them with open arms. We try to follow the guidelines set forth by the TMSAA and run our division accordingly.
  6. She may be a great AD, but I would like to know what you base your assessment on arnwine?
  7. That's a mighty big soapbox arnwine. If you fall you will get hurt! Sometimes no matter how hard you work to teach and prepare the tallent just isn't there. Teams that make the state level that often usually have an above average pool to pull from. Oak Ridge is a prime example. Their primary producer of players is Jefferson. Haile has an advantage that other teams don't have, he can legally pull players from the valley and beyond at the expense of other OR middle schools. So if you are a good player and you want a winning tradition you go to JMS then ORHS. Simple! Schools such as Anderson County and Clinton don't have as strong of middle school programs due to size, geographic restrictions, and tallent level, but the coaches at AC and CHS work just as hard as other coaches. Basketball is too difficult a sport to learn and has such a diverse population of participants, the statement that a great coach will be at the state 3 out of 5 years is not realistic. However in volleyball and other sports there are fewer skills to learn and this expectation may be more realistic. Success in coaching is not always measured in wins and losses, sometimes it is measured in the heart and determination that can be taught in the face of adversity.
  8. The Lady Mav / Lady Dragon match up has lost lots of its excitement due to the down turn that both programs have been on over the recent years. AC doesn't really have any quality wins this season. Scott, Fulton, Gibbs, Carter & Union County are a combined 8 - 43, with FHS being the best win at 5 - 6. But Clinton is in the exact same boat. It appears as if Clinton has been playing a better level of competition due to the district in which they compete. The one redeeming thing is that this is for the unofficial county championship (if you throw out their neighbors in the big city of OR to the west) and bragging rights. The trio of Forbes, Worthington, and Bryant have been coming on strong lately but Clinton also has been on an upswing over the past few games. To win, AC will have to shoot the ball well from the outside. It will go down to the wire, but the combo of Brown and Rodd will be too much for the young Lady Mavs to handle. I think that CHS will pull it out in the closing seconds to win by 4.
  9. I could be mistaken but, I'm pretty sure that Mike Ogan, Erin Ogan's dad, played professional basketball and football at one time in his life.
  10. No offense intended, but Carter is in a "rebuilding year". With the coaching change and losing a player here or there, they are not a very strong team. Obviously Seymour is stacked with quality players. The score doesn't really suprise me.
  11. The games involving Norwood have been cancelled for Thursday night due to the unfortunate accident that occured involving the little boy from Norwood. As far as I know, the games will not be made up. The girl's finals have been moved to 5:00 PM and the Boy's finals will start at 6:30 PM. Keep the Russell family in your prayers
  12. The "actor" Cozart is Cylk Cozart from Karns-Knox County. He was the the one who played with Wesley and Woody in "White Men Can't Jump". I played ball against him about a year ago in Knoxville so he may still be in town.
  13. Any word on the AC job? I believe a hire is due by July when the interim coach's term expires.
  14. I don't really have a dog in the fight, but maybe Carter should go for someone who has won a national championship like Jim Harrick or Jerry Tarkanian. [Edited by TheLollipopKid on 5-2-03 2:30A]
