  1. Cheatham Co. can still play in the tournament as far as everyone know right?
  2. My bad it was in the Daily Herald yesterday. They have too many meetings. Just kidding. Sorry all
  3. Hey the schedules work out where if you love high school girls basketball, you can see the consolation and championship games from both districts and have a bird's eye view of the regionals first hand. GREAT!
  4. Yes Good Luck in the 2nd season Lady Lions and seniors Nancy, Jamie and of course the Big Q. Quintina! Let's get r done
  5. I don't think Cait for this year especially the year Clark is having. There are so many with the stats the would justify the honor but undefeated regular season and possible state champs you gotta go with Clark in AAA Don't know enough about the other divisions at this time but I do llike the girl from Loretto
  6. Here is the District 8 AAA tournament schedule: Sports: Basketball Postseason Tournaments District 8-AAA GIRLS at Higher seeds Monday, Feb. 21 7 p.m. - Coffee Co. at Lawrence Co. 7 p.m. - Tullahoma at Lincoln Co. 7 p.m. - Franklin Co. at Shelbyville --- at Winchester - Franklin Co. Wednesday, Feb. 23 4:30 p.m. - Columbia Central vs. Lawrence Co./Coffee Co. winner 7:30 p.m. - Shelbyville/Franklin Co. winner vs. Lincoln Co./Tullahoma winner --- Thursday, Feb. 24 6 p.m. - Consolation 7:30 p.m. - Championship I say the upset could be the 7:30 game which will more than likely be Shelbyville vs. Lincoln Co. L.C. only beat single A Moore Co by 6 last night and unless there were some things beyond their control, they should have dominated. They haven't been playing well lately and Shelbyville's tournament savy team may outweigh the fact there is a bit of a size difference there. I look forward to the games and I still feel the finals will be Columbia vs. Shelbyville and the consolation Lincoln Co. vs. Coffee Co.. but Lawrence Co still has a pulse an could pull an upset in the first round.
  7. We don't play tomorrow so I may be at the Oakland game. Kinda fanning out to see all the possibilities. I'm possibly going to Cleveland but not sure. Some other folks are going to some eastern time zone games for a look see. Lincoln Co struggled tonight against a good Lavergne team that I thought they could beat. They may be in trouble. Their posts didn't do very well Friday night but on second thought neither did their scorer 33. I think and have said so that Shelbyville is primed to get 2nd in our race and it wouldn't surprize me a bit. Lawrence Co is hitting the wall but still plays well enough I think to beat Coffee.
  8. Cant help the odd numbered teams in the district but part of "earning" the way to the regionals is both having an undefeated season in the district. The extra game against a last seeded team won't hurt you guys any. Maybe the subs can mop up and get some quality P.T. As far as District 8, I still look for Shelbyville to surprize Lincoln Co. and be 2nd which is a far cry from the expectations at the start of the season. Like him or not,(I do) Rick gets the job done. Actually the Lady Lions are about the only team that he admits not matching up at all with. It will be fun. Oalkand.... are there any potential surprizes in the 3-6 matchups? I have only seen you guys and Cookville. Thanks
  9. I don't know why you say that... one of the best freshmen in the state is Owens with some great talent at Whitthorne. It's way too early to be making those kinds of statements.
  10. also at CC and Armstrong had a cyst removed on her leg with sutures that day and Ross had the flu It don't happen again
  11. Go Culle! ra ra reee kick em in the knee ra ra rass kick em in the other knee! just kidding They need a bit of pub. I'll say totally against what I said at the first of the season and Forrest wins it all but the region could be a sweep for the other side
  12. Update! Columbia Lady Lions UNDEFEATED in District 8 AAA Columbia 44 Lincoln Co. 28 Any doubters still out there that there is the potential for a second consectutive trip to the Boro? More evident tonight that ever. The same key as the last 2 weeks....relentless defense..example everyone knows how good Leesa Jefferies is and I like here style alot.. we tonight 3 points 1 free throw and a layup on a missed switch on defense. Powerful post play by both teams but Lincoln Co ran out of gas at the half. My region 4 matchups (Don't get mad if your team aint here cause they aint' paying me to do this Riverdale at Columbia Cookeville at Shelbyville (yes flem.. Rick has them so happy they are opposite Columbia that it fires them up in the semis and they beat Lincoln in the 3rd try) Lincoln Co at White Co Coffee Co at Oakland the Championship Oakland Columbia rematch and I like the Lady Lions chances in this one but both advance to the state by winning sub state games
  13. No flem prozac won't turn anything green but your liver with prolonged use. Who do you guys play tonight?
  14. Flem, why do you use the little Martiangreenblinkinmanthumbstuckintheair thingy all the time? is there something we need to get out in the open?
  15. whoa flemmer dude your prozac script is ready to be picked up at the counter. That's all right we've all been holding back during the season for fear of a burp here or there but bring out the gloves it's time to lace it up After tomorrow night, I'll post the predictions for the first round regional matchups and yes the Eaglettes will be there I'm just not sure where yet. I've got to watch Lincoln Co and see. I do think I'm eliminating Lawrence Co as of now they don't seem to have any fire left.
  16. Hey everybody wants their shot at the one on top and Lincoln Co is just as able to beat Columbia as anybody. Trouble is the Lady Lions are peaking at the right time and never have played better than they have in the last 2 weeks. So don't be too surprized if they win by 20 tomorrow. I'll go out on a limb and say they win by 15 and win the tournament by double digits also.
  17. The title of the banner is Region Tournament not Region Tournament Champions. Participation until now has been so few and far between for the girls that it merited the banner. If you noticed in the center of the same wall is the larger championship banner with boys and girls on it. And it is nearly full with boys years and very few (maybe 3 total girls years) that we will probably visit re designing the banners at some point in time. Sorry for the confusion.
  18. Fun ain't the word for it! This is the first ever regular season championship for Columbia. The odds of Columbia and Oakland meeting in any other game but the region championship are slim. Columbia is separating themselves from the field in 8AAA and so is Oakland in 7AAA. Upsets happen and that's why they play the games but coaches Grandstaff and Moore ain't likely to let that happen. Therefore a region 4 championship game between Oakland and Columbia would be great and I'm sure a totally different game than the first for both teams. Columbia has won a Region once I think beating Lawrence Co during coach Moore's playing days. I may be wrong don't hold me to that. Both teams could conceivablly reach the Boro. Still, there's alot of b'ball to be played
  19. Unless something unforseen happens...My prediction for the final standings of the District tournament will be 1. Columbia their's to lose 2. Shelbyville and the reason is obvious. the general got them in opposite Columbia and they are playing well. They match up well with everyone in the District but Columbia. And they are ready to pull a small upset over Lincoln Co. in that bracket. IMO 3. Lincoln Co. 4. Before last night, I'd say Lawrence Co. but I didn't see any fire anywhere in Lawrence Co except in the eyes of some of the fans (parents, I don't know) for whatever reason there was a lot of discontentment. I'm not starting anything or criticizing... that' just what I saw and heard. So having said that... flip a coin Coffee or Lawrence. FWIW
  20. Oakland, My tongue was firmly in cheek you know. The post on Lincoln Co. was right on. They are playing very well. We play them Friday night and can tell more by then. We were in our funk the last time we played them and they had the weirdest 6 point play at the end of the game to cut an 11 point lead to 5 which was our margin of victory but was still scary at the least.
  21. Guys, C'mon what would Region 4 be without these discussions involving Shelbyville? You know they're the team to beat! (right flem) thumb Keep it up don't let the General sneak up on you.
  22. Good job ladies. Last 11 of 12 wins by 14 or more points. Let's finish what we started. A bit more work to do. Great D tonight and the new "stuff" starting to gel. Updates and stats tomorrow on www.columbialadylions.com New pics also.
  23. Denny.... did you use to coach Lousiville? man you are good!
  24. Lion's Den, you were right on. And as I said DEFENSE wins championships. LCHS 7 points in the 1st half and Hudgins 6 for the night. Way to go Ladies. Now let's finish this thing!
  25. Actually the boys have already clinched when Shelbyville lost last week. But woo hoo go Lady Lions!
