Sivley beat Meridith in the semis in 04. He then beat a Calhoun GA. kid in the finals. The GA. kid was the no. 1 seed. He caught Merdith in a 5point headlock about 35 seconds into the match. The really was on his horse and held on for like 6-5 win. Good match. Then won big in the finals.

Hardball good post. When has the TSSAA ever did anything to help wrestling. I guess Coach Carter does not want to look like he is playing favorites towards the sport he used to coach. Or maybe he hated coaching the sport so much he wants to make it suffer. Suffer we have, no divisions no real growth the same teams dominant. Cut backs for qualifiers making qualifing not fair to all. As usual we are treated like redheaded step children. I pray things will change but know they will not. Next step just have one per weight one per region do the whole thing in 9 hours and get it done. Coming in 08.

215 is the toughest you have 6 or more kids that could win this class. Some of these guys are good wrestlers and great athletes, some are really tough wrestlers and good athletes. Either combo can be lethal. All the good ones are monsters. Should make for a great state tourney.

How did The Hill do at the Mitchell County Duals. Any body know and any individual results.

Until Tn. devides into divisions we will remain behind. This would increase popularity among smaller schools. Which we have alot of in Tn. My school is 740 or less if we would have had just small and large like track or CC we would have a whole bunch of state medalist with there pictures lining the hall to or gym. Which would have made the sport grow in our little town. Keep it pure and keep the haves growing and everybody else suffering we are just a glimpse of our society. Also as long as we have the NWCA and the TSSAA making the rules and adopting them we will continue to suffer. THey are basing decisions on money first and what is good for the kids and wrestling second. Keep it going the way we are today and wrestling will be gone in 20 years or less. Maybe at all levels and we will not beable to blame title nine. We will have ourselves to blame. I have been involved for 33 years and it hurts to see us going in the direction we are going. Cause I LOVE this stuff.

I have been involved in and around wrestling since 1972. And in in 2005 I saw something happen at a 14 team tourney yesterday that I have never saw in my life. No one could remember a single stalling warning or a stalling pentalty being awarded. Me my assistant coaches, and we ask at least 14 other coaches. No one could remember a single call being made. This tournement was in NC. I witnessed one of my wrestles coming off the bottom, standing up and his opponent grabbing his legs and never coming off the mat and holding the legs and never trying to work up for 52 seconds and the ref said nothing. When I question the call the ref said thats the way they did it. He also said the man on the mat did not have to make an attempt to bring the offensive man back down or work up it was the responsibility of the bottom man to escape. Is there I new rule I can not find it. The refs allowed the top man to go into full top mounted crab rides never moving off the hips {both not just one} for a whole period. They would not make the top man work for the turn. I ask it they were awarding riding points and was told no was I crazy. Other than stalling they did a pretty good job. But no one I talked to could remember a single stall call.

Who has matches on 12-15-05 in region 1 and where are they.

I think Don was knocked out at Bradley by some 215's or 275's came back and finished. Don is not a big guy, but he throughs himself in there to help protect the kids. Does a great job.

Don is a great offical. Mr. Abbott we all know it is a tough job. You were pretty good at it I and alot of others just wish that some today seem to care as much and do as good a job as you did. I understand what this person was saying about safety. I saw a kid get punched 6 times in a match, the coach called it to the refs attention and the ref said there was no unnecassary force. The match had to be stopped twice for blood. The one that got punched was bleeding.

Where was The Hill at this past weekend. I guess most of the region was at Boone or Greeneville.

That was a great heavyweight match. Low scoring nos stalling lots of action between two big athletic guys.

Did youall see the all conference team. Betsy whole team made at least honorable mention. This was even guys that only start a game or two. This should be an honor. I am glad to see there names in the paper and it is good for the kids, but dont make it a show up award.

TD N.C.Mat reported Murray got 2nd. at 275. Said he lost to the Peterson kid from Mitchell County.
