There is no set number from year to year or from classification period to the next. Each school reports thier enrollment, schools are then put in order, the bottom third are 1A, middle third are 2A, top third are 3A. Here are the enrollments reported for the last two years and the next two years. The "class" that it has beside each school is what it currently is. Nobody has told us that we may be hosting the regional so I'm pretty sure it is at TCA. I know that if all four district 16 teams win that they have an alternate site (Douglass I believe). Last year all 4 of our teams won the rist round games so I wouldn't be surprised. I don't konw anything at all other than going on that in past years Memphis 1A girls ball is very weak. I think the South Gibson Co/Douglass game is the only one that will be close but I think they (SGC) will win because of how fundamental they are.

Still one regular season district game to go tonight (Tuesday). Madison is at Middleton. Middleton is 2nd at the moment at 8-3 in the district, Madison is 3rd at 7-4. The winner will be the 2 seed because Madison has beaten Middleton once already so they hold the tie breaker in the event they win tonight to even thier records at 8-4. So with that being said..... It has nothing to do with the physical building. It is whether the school is a K-12, 6-12, 7-12 or whatever, as long as the 8th grade is considered "part" of the same school as the high school. Greenfield did this for years when the old high school building was across the street from the elementary/JR high building. We were a K-12 school with two buildings. Nothing connecting unless you count a painted cross walk on the street. Interesting about counting the 8th grade students in with your enrollment, you would think that you would have to since you are getting athletes from that group.but I'm not sure. I don't think we had to when I was playing, but I'm not sure it is still that way.

Scotts Hill @ Riverside moved to Saturday the 12th, 6:30

Adamsville @ Riverside will be played. Girls tip off at 6:30. Jackson Sun website has Madison @ Middleton postponed with no makeup date announced.

Sorry don't have my paper anymore but I do remember seeing that Bradford won as did Big Sandy in OT. I'll see if I can round it up and get back to you.

Scotts Hill @ Riverside on January 11th postponed. Rescheduled for February 10th.

According to the numbers sent in to the TSSAA, they sent in 639 as thier enrollment for the last half of this classification period. It is on the front page of the website a few scrolls down. It is actually up from 626 that they sent in two years ago. There is a good number of schools that are smaller than them in 2A and there is only one (Douglass 719) in 1A that turned in a bigger number. They will have to get down to around 530 in 2 years to have a chance to get to 1A. I don't see S. Gibson Co. taking away a lot of kids. Milan has a great school and obviously a great football tradition. S.Gibson Co. is a young program that is going in the right direction but is on the way to being a huge school that flirts with being 3A before it is all said and done. I don't see a whole lot of kids leaving to go there. Milan will lose kids from the arsenal closing and a handful from Jackson that stop in Medina instead of going 15 more minutes but I think they ultimately stayin 2A and every year lose no more than 2 games and go to at least the quarters every year.

The district will come back a little bit to the middle of the pack teams like Dyersburg and Haywood but I still see Obion, Gibson, and Westview finishing in the top 3. I saw all 3 this summer and they are still very good.

Even though Trenton hasn't beat a UC or Humboldt type team, LC has a new coach so I am going to wait and see before I make up my mind 100%. But I like the order of your top 5. My bookie has the odds very high of it happening. Seems to be a trend with 1st-4th year in year out. I figured LC would have gone after Coach Glisson as well. He is one of the top coaches in the area in any classification boys or girls. Took Greenfield from a 2 win a year team to a sub state team in 4 years and is bringing Bradford back to what it was in the late 80s early 90s. They have some good young kids coming up through Jr High as well so they might be able to slip into the top few spots for a while now.

To early to tell but you have to put Humboldt and Union City as 1A and 1B. Lake County and Peabody will battle for the 3rd spot. Don't sleep on Bradford. I'm being a homer of sorts here but Coach Glisson has got something going there. Flip a coin on Greenfield, Halls, and South Fulton as they will round out the bottom.
