  1. Haters will Hate...PC has to play with urgency still a good win though...survive and advance
  2. Has any boys team in any sport from Gibson County ever had a winning record? If they have its not many.
  3. I'm confused? Did CA win the game? Sometimes being more physically talented isn't everything you also have to be tough mentally. I guess your saying CA wasn't as tough mentally since the "gave it away" and "they were looking ahead." Last time I checked its all part of the game and if you play the game and lose obviously you aren't as good in all aspects as the other team.
  4. They may not have been in the top 5 you played but they were better than you and that's all that matters now.
  5. Per The Tennessean Jacob Tucker's Stats Passing Stats 112/160 1855 yds TD's 23 Rushing Stats 785 yds TD's 12
  6. Ellison left PC to coach his son at Hardin Co., if I'm not mistaken.
  7. So you were about 3 or 4 years old in the early 80's and not born yet in the 50's and 70's. I would feel confident in saying PC's run of talent in the mid 90's may have been the best that has ever come through that school. Coach Haston did a really good job recapturing the teams focus after the Summertown and Riverside games. He and the team have really improved and its good seeing someone that bleeds Black and Gold on the sidelines.
  8. I thought they won on a last second shot by Carroll? Might want to check that. 97 Team was awful good however 77 wasn't too shabby either. 97 had more depth 77 had the best player. Those two teams played two totally different styles 77 was uptempo and 97 wanted to play a little more half court to get it to Haston. It'd sure be fun if we could have watched those two teams slug it out.
  9. Are you sure about the 97 team beating the AAA runner up? Some of PC's best teams were in the 80's with Nat Dixon, Barry Cunningham, and Keith Beasley...they just had the unfortunate task of having to go through Knox Webb and Memphis Westside. Those teams may have played up to their potential more than any other PC team. Those teams played effortlessly and smooth...Barry Cunningham may be one of the most under appreciated players in PC history. This is a fun topic to talk about because each decade has had great teams and great players 50's (Ellison), 60's (Dave Rhodes) 70's (Mike Rhodes) 80's (Dixon,Cunningham,Plunkett,McCaig) 90's (Haston...too many others to list) 00's (Chase Richardson) 10's (current) That is a lot of basketball history and it sure brings back some good memories...we should all appreciate the history because its impossible compare which team is better and just enjoy adding to the tradition.
  10. I'm gonna guess PC has more State Championships than most teams have District Championships.
  11. AKAGlazed I think your missing the point. No one is saying PC is bad. What I'm saying, are they showing improvement as a team? I understand how fans watch the score and say hey we won by "x" number of points and so and so team only won by 4 and we won by 12. That has absolutely no bearing on anything. What matters has PC gotten better in Dec. and better in Jan. and better in Feb when it counts. The answer is no they are still doing the same things defensively they were doing in Dec. They are allowing teams to dictate the flow of the game because they aren't pressuring the ball and putting pressure on the other team offensively by using their quickness. Without being a jerk stating the facts and telling the truth doesn't make you a hater. Sometimes we are all blinded by our support of our team (me included). Keep cheering for the Black and Gold its about time to hang another banner alongside the other "6".
  12. Exactly how many State Championships has anyone won in the last 13 years I'm sure PC has a few more than you...Now regarding Perry County they are obviously not playing very good basketball. Are they winning yes are they getting better NO. In order to win deep in the Tournaments you have to stop the basketball on penetration and you have to dictate the style of play you wish to play not what the other team wants to play (see Summertown). Right now Perry County does neither. Do they have potential yes however they are not playing to their strengths and this allows teams that may not be as talented to win or play them close. A team that allows weaker teams to hang around will almost always underachieve in the tournaments. As we all know the only thing that matters is "are we improving every night" and "how deep you get in the tournament" and what doesn't matter is polls. Sorry for being long winded but this love affair with Perry County and how "Great" they are is really annoying to me. Beating bad teams does not make you great.
  13. After reading all of this about Perry County yes they are very much improved from the last few years and they are actually still young. Can they win the state championship right now in June no they aren't good enough yet however if they continue to work hard and keep improving like they have since the end of the season who knows they could make a deep run in the tournaments. Obviously you've not worn what they were wearing because you can only see straight ahead not to your left or right I've worn them and its nearly impossible to see anything except what directly in front of you.
  14. Anybody know how many state appearances he's had since PC with those good players?
  15. Just to clarify a few things the great bolton teams you are talking about were beaten by Perry County in 1977 and PC beat Knox Catholic in 1976, those Perry Co. teams were led by Mike Rhodes and he set several scoring records in the state tournament those years. Perry Co. had a very good run in the 90's appeared in the state tourney 94,95,96,97 with a runner up in 1996 and a championship in 1997.
  16. That's a really class post since you talking about my dead father. I'm not sure if you care but some things still hurt.
  17. Perry County Starters PG - Dave Rhodes SG - Mike Rhodes G - Gene Paschall F - Albert Ellison F - Kirk Haston Bench G - Cory Brown F - Chris Jones F - Joel Plunkett G- Nat Dixon G - Barry Cunningham
  18. Matthew Cunningham from Perry County, is a really solid guard that is playing on a really young team. He isn't that flashy and may not play college ball but he has an unbelievable heart and a great understanding of how to score. I'm not real sure how many points he's averaging but I'd say around 20 to 22 a game. His head coach has done an outstanding job helping him mature as well as his team getting better. Good Job!
  19. This is a rediculous topic b/c Perry Co. has a really good young coach who has been successful the last four years and taken a PC team that most thought would not be very competitive this year to competing each game winning games they should and losing though hard fought games. I'm confident in saying Coach Lee isn't going anywhere. So lets please put these rumors to rest and stop kicking a horse.
