  1. MBA Jeff Ewers- New Jersey 7A Mr. Football at St. Christopher Prep Matthew Eaves- 1 career reception
  2. I wouldnt mind playing any decent school within 30 miles on Nashville. I can think of one off of the top of my head (but I'll save that for during the season).
  3. the usn players were practicing "visualization" before the game, which i believe can be anything from a guided meditation-like time to a quiet period of preperation for each member of the team. some players from the BA team and an assistant coach (whose idea it was) went to where the usn players were and took pictures of them and laughed at them and such. the usn coach didn't become aware of the incident until after the game.
  4. I was wondering if anyone knew what is going to happen because of the incident that happened before the BA vs. USN game a few weeks ago. I think that the players involved should have been suspended for the next game or some after that, but for some reason the coach chose not to address it until several days later. Also the assistant coach whose idea it was should be fired. I had never heard of any team acting with such a lack of class in my entire life. their actions reflect poorly on BA and the families of the girls involved.
  5. I think I can guess what happened to Brentwood Academy last night. MUS had the better game plan, and instead of chaning their scheme, BA chose to keep doing the same things each drive that just got eaten up by MUS. It's not Flatt's tendency to change his scheme mid-game, ie. bringing more blitz, less blitz. I look to an earlier post that said that BA continued to run a swing pass even though it wasn't working. I think BA will have to venture away from the playbook consisting of 3 receiver routes and 4-5 runs.
  6. Although I'm sad that my Big Red won't be playing at Dudley field tomorrow, I don't have to be nervous about this game. In terms of prediction, I think that BA knows what it's like to play in a Clinic Bowl and will have lots of hometown support. MUS is probably th better team, but this is their first trip to the "big dance" and experience pays of in these big games. That being said, I'm going to keep my prediction and my favorable winner close to home when I pick Brentwood Academy to win tomorrow. It should be a heck of a game, especially if it rains and the field is torn up from the two previous games. Final Score: BA-21 MUS-17 Best of Luck to both teams...wish i could be there.
  7. Well I'm sure my namesake John-O Clay doesn't know anything about blocking especially after playing on the 1991 Alabama National Championship team. And hey, any offensive or defensive lineman worth his salt will tell you that you do what you gotta do in the trenches. It's not about being a gentleman, it's about being nasty and mean while still being a good sport.
  8. congrats to the big red for a victory last night. mba ba rivalry has grown into a heck of a game year in and year out. both teams are class acts. i was happy to hear the clock supervisor was paying attention to the game this time. i'd love to see another match-up in the playoffs between these two teams. roll red
  9. prayers from way up in ann arbor. may the lord be with you all
  10. excellent post. every team has ups and downs. i'd love to see father ryan's program continue to grow over the next few years and have that MBA/Ryan rivalry be as fierce as ever.
  11. is parker cason back for the eagles? also is bowker playing any qb or has tyler griffin pretty much taken over that spot?
  12. anyone know the forecast for friday night? i don't think it will favor either team if it rains but you never know.
  13. all of this trash talking gets us nowhere...we'll just see how well briarcrest does when they're playing those teams year in and year out. if you ask me i'd say they are a good addition to the DII-AAA. however only being able to play 3 out of conference opponents will mean teams will be forced to schedule all of those games against tough teams. time will tell.
  14. I bet Phil Fulmer is kicking himself over this one. He got greedy and beat Florida one too many times. You would think he'd be happy with every other year and that way Zook would stay around. Oh well, we all knew this would happen. He probably never even unpacked all of his stuff so it shouldn't take long to move out. Maybe they'll give Ingle his starting job back.
  15. Last year I picked against Brentwood Academy, and they proved me wrong by defeating the 9th-ranked Big Red. Then I picked BA in the Clinic Bowl and they let me down. Who will I pick this year? How does this sound? Brentwood Academy 17, Montgomery Bell Academy 17 Heck of a pick Wes.
  16. brings back memories of one of my favorite games i played in and my least favorite game i played in. truly a special matchup.
  17. well said wesvols. and i don't see any circumstance under which private schools would stop giving financial aid. If that were to happen, then a certain population of students wouldn't attend those schools and then all the DII-haters would talk about how private schools are just rich white kids.
  18. I don't think they'd want MBA taking over 5A.
  19. I'm not saying drugs are a problem that shouldn't be handled. One question I have is are only athletes subject to the random testing, or are all students?
  20. Why not take the money for drug tests (this isn't the NFL) and spend it on some better teachers. Just an idea.
  21. I wouldn't be so sure about that. We all know the 35-7 scored is not exactly correct unless Coaches Rutledge and Rankin would be subbing in the 2nd and 3rd for the second half. I think if MBA could keep it close and stay in the game they would outwork Riverdale in the 4th quarter and possibly win it. It just makes my blood boil this game isn't played every year. It would get more fans than most Clinic and Blue Cross Bowls.
  22. And to go with the previous post, what is to say that those two former BA players didn't go there just because it is a better academic institution than wherever they were zoned to? I doTo bring this back to the original topic, I know all the Riverdale players would claim they would beat MBA any year, but does anyone have a coaches take on why Riverdale won't play MBA? And yes I say they won't play MBA because that's the truth.
  23. We all know that the truth of this matter is that Coach Rankin will not accept a regular season game against MBA. Whatever the reason is I can't imagine it being very good. I cannot conceive any possible reason for why he wouldn't want to play MBA or BA, MUS, CBHS as well. I have no doubt that Riverdale has better athletes than MBA every year but I'd put any MBA team up against Riverdale just because of the coaching and discipline. These two things can never be matched by a Riverdale team.
  24. whats the weather like for memphis tomorrow night? i can't see it having much of an effect, since both teams like to pass the ball and rain would effect them both.
  25. well i think we can all agree that won't win many football games. i'm not a vandy fan but if i were i'd say this season is a pretty good indication that its time to move on and cheer for a new team. and it's E Gordon Gee i think
