  1. How can you say Marshall county always plays a tough schedule. Fayette Ware, you said yourself, doesn't win very often. As a matter of a fact neither does Walker Valley or Harpeth the last few years! The only tough non-region game that Marshall plays is Lipscomb and more often than not gets beat by them. It's true, Marshall has owned 5-3a but don't talk about soft non region schedules. Maybe yall should take a look at playoff records vs teams with equal talent!
  2. You are right msgov, some counties do have self-supported programs. The only problem there is that it is almost impossible to do that. Still the ones who suffer is the kids. Some schools in clarksville don't have enough fan base to even come close to supporting their respective teams. Should those kids just be out of luck? Somehow in this during this whole issue everyone has turned it all around and made it an issue of coaches and their loyalty to their programs. Seems to me that the coaches were working their butts off as normal when the rug was pulled from under them. There have been virtually no cuts anywhere else in the entire school system, certainly not in the central office whose payroll is more than twice what it was 3 years ago. The issue, like most in politics, has nothing to do with what the polititians have made it out to be. THE MONEY IS THERE. Keep looking and pressuring. YOU ARE CLOSE GUYS!
  3. Memoradem? You mean you weren't at the meeting? So I guess you are not as informed as I am. Maybe you should hush until you know the entire truth of the matter.
  4. Living and being raised in Clarksville should be the very reason you should want to see things changed. Clarksville has had 2 maybe 3 truly competitive teams in the past 10 years, all schools included. Butler had 2 good teams at NE and Arrington the 1 a K'wood. Bob's team at Clarksville was so-so a few years ago. Evidently medeocrity in Clarksville is the norm and you, as a coach, are propegating it. I say people like you are the problem. You must fight for what is best for the kids and sometimes that hurts a little. Quit running scared. Maybe you should move to Mexico as well. The kids need people willing to fight for them and win. Not just bend over to the will of the higher-ups. You guys are just setting them up for another fall.
  5. If you guys coach for free, you will get just what they paid for....nothing! Your kids would be much better served to learn the lessons of solidarity.
  6. No, I think Clarksville is just going to play intramural football.
  7. It was 5-3 if you count JV and 9th. Get your facts straight. If you were "brought up in this system"then you know the joke that the school board has been playing on clarksville fb over the years. Higher grade requirements, shorter practices, no middle school football since god knows when, now no pay too. Stay in Montgomery county please. You two deserve each other!
  8. Then you are part of the problem. It is an issue that if not resolved now, will never return to normal. Your head coach is in it for the short term anyway so he is in a no lose situation. His, and obviously your, concern is now and not future. It is not a walkout, it is getting paid for the job that you and others do! Everyone cares about the kids. No one is in it for the money, but don't you want your kids to be able to compete on friday nights instead of getting hammered like you did against Henry County in the scrimmage. Come on coach, wake up and smell the coffee.
  9. Clarksville coaches should boycott. They have been given a slap in the face. If any other profession was told they wouldn't be paid for their services, there would be no discussion. A walkout would certainly happen! This is not about right now as much as it is the future of all athletics in Montgomery Co. Yes, kids this year would suffer if the coaches refused to work for free. This is a political battle between the commissioners who promised more money 2 years ago to the school board, and the Director of Schools, who has made so many enemies on the commission that she is really in a "lame duck" status. Once again no one at the central office, administration, classroom, or anyone else is taking a paycut. Just the coaches, the men and women who spend more time each day and know more about the failures, success, and problems these kids have than many times even their parents! No support or faith is being put in these people and the lives they touch on a daily basis. So while the Director climbs in her caddilac or SUV or whatever she drives, and passes by projects and poverty to go to her suburban 150,000 dollar plus home, she can answer to these kids who she and her cronies have forsaken. I feel sure she has no children of her own that without athletics have nothing to feel good about. You see, she has no dog in the hunt and is playing SIM CITY with all of Clarksville. The money is there. Keep looking guys. You are close to the truth!
  10. Nice try Smith. Enjoy your stay at EZ. tick, tock, tick, tock.
  11. Big Chief, you hit the nail on the head. I love watching the hole get deeper and this guy just keeps digging!
  12. You can change your name, but not your style. Paxton, 5wide, whatever. Time waits for no man.
  13. Ezell is fine. Coach Paxton(Smith) can win with only 5 players on the field anyway. Who needs those darn linemen anyhow? His superior coaching and intelect will lead the EZ's to yet another state title. He is respected among his peers...Oh yea, I forgot he has no peers, just ask him.
  14. D-1 prospect are not. I feel sure the coaches put what they felt were the best players on the field. Have you ever considered that maybe the east was better? Also, the west was ahead 14-0 when the east kicked a fieldgoal and then because of shrine bowl rule, recieved the ensuing kickoff as well. I also understood the paper to say that the punter from Brentwood had a broken jaw suffered during the game and maybe....just maybe...playing through the pain contributed to his dropping the snap in the endzone. I, don't know what went on that week of practice. I know you will respond with some smart, kid comment, but remember.... you simply don't know the facts. You think you know, but you don't. I won't be replying to your answer, so feel free to really let me have it. YOU THE MA.....er...BOY!
  15. If the information I have is correct, the West only had 7 0-linemen and two of those were added the week of the game. It is really hard to play others when you have no others! Also, I suspect the west coaches played the players based on the practices held during the week, not on how they blocked or ran during the season. 70 played tackle by the way, not center. Did you even watch the game or do you not understand the basic positions. At any rate, you at best have been misinformed or at worst are a silly kid who thinks he has all the answers. I don't know much about the west coaches other than where they coached, Christian Brothers, Sycamore, etc.... but I am relatively sure those men have forgot more football than you will ever know. Because your team has had 1 winning season in many years certainly does not qualify you as an expert. Maybe coacht should add a childrens forum for popcorn heros like yourself.
