  2. My two sons played this past season in a town east of Lebanon, and I will say for a fact that they will never play for that league again. Not only was it very disorganized, the coaches kids played the majority of the snaps while several other kids didn't play hardly at all. The team only had 3-4 decent players, and the rest were about the same. Some of the coaches kids and the kids of their friends didn't even make all of the practices, but come game time, they were on the field. It was very disheartening to look at 6, 7, and 8 year olds when they ask why they didn't get to play like the other kids did. One of the games, the head coach walked in with one kid, and his parent, and really built the kid up and talked about how he was going to play "a lot" snaps at QB that game. The kid was so excited, because he had been nothing but the scout team QB for practices. He played all of two snaps in the game, one being an offside by the tackle, and the other a busted play when the center snapped the ball and then didn't block anyone. Needless to say, that parent was very ticked when he had to explain to his son why the coach didn't do what he said he would. The league had the mission that every kid would play...equal amounts, but many of the kids saw very limited time. The coaches were obviously in a win first, teach last mode, because there was very little instruction, just a lot of yelling when things didn't go right in the games, never mind the fact that they never worked on them in practice. On top of all that, the president of the league used it as a personal fundraiser most of the year, since he was out of a job. I sometimes wonder exactly where my $100 league fee went. Probably beer and ice cream.
  3. There is probably more to this than any of the other theories out there. Schools go throught cycles with kids. New middle schools open up and shift better kids to other zones as well. The time of one school dominating Rutherford County has probably come and gone.
  4. I have to agree. I think he would be a great asset for Blackman. He's coached Davidson and Rutherford Counties and been on some impressive staffs as both Offensive and Defensive Coordinator. Organization is a strong suit for him, and on top of all that, he's a great teacher in the classroom. No I don't owe him money, I've just worked with him and know he's a high caliber person that would do a great job given the opportunity.
  5. Solomon, it was a great game...back and forth throughout the 2nd half. 3-3 at the half...it looked like Marshall Co would win in a walk when they went up 13-3 but Lexington kept fighting and found a way to win it in the end. Marshall Co. couldn't stop Lexington's running game and the QB for Lexington had a nice game throwing the ball too. Hats off to Don Thomas' Marshall Co. team...they played a tough game...hard to lose one like that, but they did.
  6. Does Taylor come back for Lexington this week?
  7. P4k...good to see you this weekend at the Mid TN Classic. Any scores from the Lavergne-MJ game. Sounds like a good one.
  8. The Upper Bracket has the two best teams...USJ and Goodpasture...the winner of this one will probably be the champs. Lipscomb has a gift the first round....Anderson Co. will have a tough match up in Bolivar and Will Irvin....so I think Lipscomb probably wins this much weaker bracket.
  9. Yes, MTCS is the place. Congrats on your daughter as well, too. Wow, I can't believe you and Stacy have kids in HS now...but it has been 20 years since we graduated. My oldest (8) is in junior little league and my youngest is in T-ball (6). I have my oldest hitting from both sides of the plate and we have been working on drag bunting from the left side today. My youngest has some serious speed but they won' t let you drag bunt in T-Ball. Man, its fun getting to teach them the game now...they finally just this year started taking a serious interest in it so maybe in a few years we'll be get to go watch some game with a little more on the line than just a passing interest. Good luck to you guys.
  10. Newstang, I think you'll like the MTCS field very well. It's as good or better than Blackman's field. Congrats on your son's team making it back to Mboro. When I get back from St. Louis Wednesday afternoon, Patterson and I might try to ride over and see you guys play. Hate the Big Red didn't make it back, but they gave Lipscomb a good run at it.
  11. 10-0 Bolivar going into the bottom of the 3rd.
  12. working on the updates and yes both aces will be ready for the sectional.
  13. Region 6 AA Lexington hosts Bolivar Region 5 AA Lipscomb hosts FRA
  14. 2-1 final score. Sounded like a great game and good to hear the Edward Jones guy in Lewisburg on the air.
  15. FRA just took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 10th. MC now bats in the bottom of the 10th for their season. Both teams have left a small village on the base paths, and FRA left the bases loaded in the 10th.
  16. Probably the biggest difference in this game, other than Keck, was experience. Lexington has been there for the past several years and that big game experience does pay off when the chips are down.
  17. To the 10th now...Still Tied at 1....MC just took Lintz out.
  18. I'm pretty sure they said it was the 2nd baseman. Haven't heard an update on him since about the 6th inning. Its the bottom of the 9th now and Lintz is still in there...has about 11 or 12 K's now.
