  1. It all depends on which Peabody team shows up. If it is the one that played against Milan and Mckenzie, then Peabody is in for a beating. If it is the one that showed up last week, then Peabody has a better then average shot at winning. Coach Craig has done a good job at Humbolt, but Tim Haney has done an outstanding job at Peabody. Those kids could have folded up the tents after the previous three weeks but they haven't. Also both of theses teams bring out the fight in the other one. It will be a knock down drag out game.
  2. Dresden is big and physical. They also seem to be much better coached this year than in the past. Also, I think it was very samrt of Cpach Rogers to switch from the 50 to the 3-3. They seem to be a sound team in all phases of the game. However, this is one of the best Milan teams of all time. Milan will win this game going away. Dresden will not be able to stop Rod Smith and they will not be able to run on the Milan defense.
  3. I am here to tell you, that from what I saw of their scrimmages, the 'satngs don't have to pass. They are going to line up and cram do people's throats. I can't wait for the Milan/Huntingdon game. It will be a classic.
  4. I am not from Huntingdon, I am a Mialn Bulldog, tried and true. We paly huntingdon week 5 and then we will probably see them again week 14 in the semi fanials. As for being down on certain coaches, it is simply what I have seen and heard. I mean screaming at a kid is not coaching him. I have talked with several former players whom HATE the coach you are speaking of. Now he may have a great deal of football "smarts", but that don't mean he can coach a lick. Negative coaching irritates me and that is why I am down on certain "coaches". Also, the complaining about having to play in a tough league with out great players, and the constant whinning is ridiculous. You never hear Tim Haney or Don Coady or Wade Comer making excuses when their teams aren't good. They look for the positives and correct the negatvies and move on, instead of crying about this call or that call. But that is just my opinion, I could be wrong.

    Huntingdon

I don't understand the question. I am no where near South Fulton, but I am hearing some good things about the running back they have. Now if they could just get some blocking in front of him, thebn they wouldbe getting somewhere.

    Huntingdon

Peabody is still adjusting to a new offense. So at times they looked very good and at other times they looked very bad. It did appear that they pushed Dyer Co. around. As far as speed goes, they won't be winning any 100 yard dashes, but they well within thier speed. what I mean is that their staffknows their limitations and don't try to do anything that takes a great deal of speed. Defensively, they pursue well, not great, and are solid up the middle. They will only get better as Caoch Haney loves to play a lot of people. I think with a little luck they could finish second in that region.

    Huntingdon

They scrimmaged Peabody and Dyer County. Dyer County did not know what hit them and Peabody did not fair much better. All I know is that Huntingdon did what they wanted to whomever they wanted whenever they wanted to do it. They ran a 43 on defense and an "I" (for the most part) on defense. I was very impressed with them.

    Huntingdon

I didn't see the Milan scrimmage, but iwatched Huntingdon do some damage Fri. They are loaded, big, fast, and intense. I am not a huningdon fan, I am a bulldog fan, but Hunitngdon is well coached and as fast as I have seen them in sometime. It should be a good game between Milan and Huntingdon in the semi fianls this year. How did the bulldogs look?

    WESTVIEW

I disagree with how the coaches picked 7AA I think: 1. Milan 2. Peabody 3. Union City 4. Dreden 5. Westview 6. Humbolt
  10. I am a Milan man. So I don't support Westview, but I also don't think you guys stink (that's Dresden). Our teams have had many great batles over the years, and a mutual respect has grown from how hard the coaches and kids worked for both teams. You as a player, I am not an expert, but you played hard last year and I know it had to be tough since you were on a Sophmore being thrown into the fire. If you have had a good work ethic this summer, and since you are at Westview I know you were not allowed to sit around and drink Kool-Aid all summer, then you will be a better player this year.
  11. JCM's defense will be something to watch. They play hard, fast, and mean. I love to watch those guys swarm to the football. they are definetly well coached.
  12. What are the OC new offensive and defensive schemes? I have yet to see them perform.
  13. Bishop, There is no doubt in my mind that Westview will be good. You guys don't just have one great coach you have two (Lawrence Hurst) and a very good young coach in David Byars. I agree you will be tough defensively. You would have been even more solid on Defense if two of your starting LBs hadn't left. Offensively, yes you have talent and speed, but it is young. If you guys can gell during preseason and avoid the injury bug then you will be very tough to beat. just keep your head up and play hard and good things will happen.
  14. Bishop, where did Andre Brown move off to? And did Coach Coady ever get anybody else hired to help coach besides Coach Byars?
  15. I understand how you feel about Mitchell. However, that is their edge. They intimidate people, with how they play and how they act. Is it unsprtsman like? Maybe. But remember, we (Milan) don't act as civilized as we think we do. We are a highly emotional team, that is OK if you can channel that emotion. Mitchell is highly emotional, and they channeled their emotion very well last year up to the State Championship game. I can guarentee that Westview did not want to play Mitchell last or this year. What's more, is that I know We are going to put a beat down on you all like yall did to us two years ago. It pay back time, so start getting your money ready!!!!! Also, not only can Milan win 5 straight playoff games, but we can win 15 straight football games.
  16. Indeed it will be his last. He will simply be Peabody's Principal next year. I don't think the job will be open to the masses. I bet money Kent Scott gets the job and deservedly so.
  17. I agree with you Croach. Tim Haney doesn't have the studs that some of the other coaches have, but his teams are well coached and play hard right up to the final buzzer and most of them over achieve. Not to mention he is just an all around nice guy. As for USJ, I know they don't recruit and Alabama didn't pay $200,000 for a player, and the United States didn't put a man on the moon, and Oswald didn't kill JFK, and President Nixon didn't lie about Water Gate, and Phil Fulmer can beat Florida any time he chooses and USJ doesn't recruit. It is all one big consipiracy. By the way USJ wouldn't be able to stay on the field with the likes of Milan. And as for playing them, well we asked them to play and they declined. Too bad cause then we could have seen how good they really are. And how many Golden Trophies does USJ have in football . . . That's right. I forgot they can't get past CPA. Another school that doesn't recruit.
  18. I'd have to go with 1a. Either Rod Sturdivant or Mickey Marley. I am leaning toward sturdivant since he doesn't get to pick whom he will coach. 2a. Jeff Morris, Wade Comer, Don Coady, either of these three. I think Morris has the strongest staff since the mass defections that Coady has experienced. 3a. P. A. Pratt or Jake Linville. I am leaning toward Pratt since he has built something out of nothing. 4a.Either Hardigree or Counce. Both are excellent. 5a. I really don't enough about 5a to make a judgement.
  19. It would have to be either Milan or Mitchell.
  20. Croach Your hope is a reality. Coach Wilson is very excited about being at SF and thinks they have a bright future ahead if them. I tend to agree with him. If they will allow him to have input then SF will be unpredictable on offense and tough to figure out defensively. He has a great football mind.
  21. True. Mitchell is by far the best program in that region. As for up here 1. Milan. Bigger, faster, more mentally ready than the 99 State Champs. Will be very tough to beat. Yes I know Mitchell beat us in the Quarter finals last year. 2. Trenton. returns a core unit that was very sound last year and was in most every ball game up to the final buzzer. Yes I know Mitchell spanked them in round 1 last year. 3. Union CIty. Now Trenton and Union City could very easily be interchanged here. Union City is athletic and fast, but a new head coach may pose soem problems no matter how good he may be. 4. Dresden. That is right, dresden. They are freaking huge up front. The thing that may get the is their lack of speed. This is whom I think Mitchell will beat in the first round this year. 5. Humbolt. It will take their head coach one more year to get the pass happy air attack out of his players and instill his more physical brand of football. They will be tough to beat, but not to tough. 6. Westview. They are way too thin and way too young to compete this year. Next year will be a different story, but their coaches will have to be miricale workers to get this team into the palyoffs.

    WESTVIEW

I think Westview will be average at best. That's not to say that you guys won't pull out some wins that you aren't supposed to. However, look at your situation. You lost four coaches, three to rival schools, and replaced them with one coach. So you are short handed on the coaching end. Granted the coaches you have are exceptional, but the talent which they have to work with is not the greatest. For some reason Westviews numbers are way down, I guess most of the young men there don't want to pay the price Don Coady wants them to pay. And you have very few juniors and even fewer seniors. Now look at your region: Dresden- Returns a good portion of their team and their front is HUGE! But westview will be much faster than they are. Humbolt- Will be on much more solid ground this year as they are becoming more used to the physical style of play that their coach demands of them. Union City- They do have a new coach, but he has been there for a while and the kids won't have a hard time adjusting to him. They have speed out of their wazzou's and of course Westview only beats Union City once every ten or so years and that has already happened this decade. Trenton- They have a good solid nucleus returning and an offense that should light up the score board since Coach Haney ahs abandoned his run first offense to a spread chuck-n-duck offense. They have a solid Oline and a college prospect leading the way at QB. Their D is always tough, and nothing less should be expected this year. Milan- The bulldogs will be bringsing home Gold Ball #5 this year. Your non-conference schedule is very tough as well. So I think you will field a very hard playing, hard fighting, overachieving team that will be lucky to finish above .500.
  23. Gibson Co. win Lighthouse win Humbolt lose Milan lose Westview win Trenton lose Union City lose Camden lose Mckenzie lose South Fulton win Same story different year.

    Milan?

He preaches and teaches, fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals. A lot of coaches give this lip service, be he delivers. Also look at the offense, we aren't sophistcated. We just do what we do best and we score. He instills confidence and pride in his team, all the while letting them know he is in charge and will not take anything less than their very best. Basically he just does what a head coach is supposed to do. It doesn't hurt to have a Rod Smith to hand it off to either. I think one of the biggest contributors to Milan's success is that football actually means something to the kids. They love to play it, they love to play for Coach Morris, but most of all they love to play for Milan.

    Milan?

If we don't contend for the the State Title then folks in Milan will really be asking questions. Especially after the way we played against Mitchell lst year. I think Coach Jeff Morris will have us ready and we WILL be in Murfreesboro and we WILL bring home our 5th Gold Ball!
