KevB,
You're right.....Brian likes to buddy up to the schools.....but he does it to get information that other 'so-called' sportswriters might not be able to get.
Seems like you are jealous.
Despite the 'Canes being a 4-A school and the Cougars are 5-A, look for the 'Canes to give first-year head coach Larry Smith a victory.
Final: 'Canes 28, Cougars 20
Jamboree set for Friday, August 15 at Burke-Toney Stadium in Morristown.
Gametime: 6:30 p.m.
Teams Involved: Morristown East, Morristown West, Greeneville, Cherokee, Cocke County, Jefferson County, Volunteer (?), David Crockett (?)
Folks, gimme me your thoughts on the coaches that dish out the best quotes to the media.
Three of my favorites are Graham Clark @ Kingsport D-B, Larry Williams @ Cocke county (no longer coaching football) and Mike Sivert from Cherokee.
Your input is needed on this subject!
JPATS5,
I think Brian Trent does a creditable job of providing coverage of JCHS sports for the Citizen Tribune. He has a good working relationship with coach Meadows, coach Sinard, coach Potts, coach Holland as well as coach Kisabeth.
Do you hold a grudge against Mr. Trent?
Yes they did. Larry Smith is the new head coach at M'Town East. He's from Charlotte, N.C. A veteran coach, he's already retired from the state of Virginia.
Maybe the coaching staff @ Rutledge will go to Claiborne County and allow the Pioneers to finally have a coaching staff that knows what they are doing!
GO SEYMOUR!
Talked to someone this morning who told me that East is doing more interviews this week.....hope to have a head coach by next week.
Seems to me that they're putting the football program well behind all other schools by not having a coach in place. Hope this plan doesn't haunt them in the fall.
I agree that they need 2 get a coach in place.....If they make the wrong move and don't give Seals the job, they're going 2 have to learn a whole new system in a short amount of time.
I agree the talent is there.....but will there be enough coaches at JCHS to teach the talent. At last count, Meadows only had three assistant coaches (John Brimer, Chip Watkins and Jim Hastings).
Two went to McMinn (Hutchins, Chait), one went to Sevier County (Wilhite) and one wasn't rehired (Whitehead). Also, the two freshmen coaches from last season (Crigger and Cox) won't be back.
Can anyone update me on any additions to the staff.
