  1. Congrats to the Bobcats on an outstanding season.....playing much better than most expected. Hats off to the coaching staff for a phenomenal job. I look forward to another outstanding season next year. White House was the better team tonight. But, I still hate 'em! No good luck for next week out of me! Go Notre Dame!
  2. Now, this is what I like to see......White House's and Greenbrier's TRUE colors....and I am not talking about blue and green. From what I have seen the last 5 1/2 years, the two towns really DON'T like each other in private, but tell a different story publicly. However, just one little loss and White House shows how they REALLY feel! And, now Greenbrier is starting to return that love. This is the way it OUGHT to be. What good is a rivalry if everybody just "loves" each other? I don't like White House and love it when they lose. May the dislike continue to come out!
  3. The key for Greenbrier is the same as it has been all year.......simply playing sound, mistake free football. They don't have a Ricky Ladd.....they have much more. They have a football team that plays as one unit. They have a team that executes and plays well for 4 quarters. More importantly, they are very consistant. From what I can tell, White House has been very inconsistant this year. A lot of folks keep saying, "IF White House plays like they did against Polk Co......" Well, the problem is they don't play that well consistantly and hence the advantage Greenbrier has.
  4. Imagine that.......White House fans picking White House.....Greenbrier fans picking Greenbrier.......hmmmmmmmmmmmm
  5. Dandy, you are the typical White House jerk (one of many that have helped me develop a hatred for your community in just 5 1/2 short years). You aren't making an observation. You are flat out TALKING and showing your arrogance! You are trying to imply Greenbrier has waaaaaaay too much pressure on them to make sure it isn't 24 years in a row. Please....mind games are for the weak. That may work around town in White House....but don't bring your childish games this way.....just bring your football team!
  6. Dandy, I am thinking the exact opposite. Greenbrier has MUCH LESS pressure on them this game. You can't face any more pressure than they did 2 weeks ago.....trying to win the region title against a team you haven't beaten in 23 yrs.....overcoming the mental block....etc. Now, they can just focus on playing a tough second round playoff opponent. I think the fact that it is White House just adds a little spice, but no extra pressure now. See, we faced this same situation two years in a row. We had to play a very good Sycamore team in the 2d round two years ago with half our starters playing with the flu (and we won a nailbiter). Last year we had to do the same thing with Marshall County (except no flu this time). So, playing a region foe we have previously beaten in the 2d round is nothing new to these guys.....been there.....done that.....came away with THEIR t-shirts! That said, it should be another great, close game. ONLY a White House fan would even think about the 24 year thing. Who cares? I guess that is the only consolation you guys can have after finally being humbled. It is obvious you guys are having a hard time swallowing that streak-ending pill! From this point on in the playoffs, it is about who plays their game and who makes the fewest mistakes. Everybody is a quality team from here on out. I think the Bobcats' discipline makes the difference AGAIN! Here's to the beginning of a Greenbrier streak....20 - 14 sounds about right!
  7. I am still trying to figure out why everyone thinks the runaway scores in the first round are such a big deal. The current format is just fine. Other states do the exact same format (Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, etc.). The fact that eight #4 seeds beat #1 seeds is proof enough that it should stay the way it is. And, several #3 seeded teams won as well. Most teams would rather make it to the playoffs and get blown out in the first round than to not have made it. It helps to build something within that program on some occasions just making to the playoffs. You guys are making much ado about nothing!
  8. Either that one or Fulton at Knox Catholic. I suspect Notre Dame will win and cause Greenbrier to have to travel. A Pearl Cohn win would be nice so we could play home in the 3rd round (assuming we beat White House again)!
  9. I would expect this to be an excellent and hard-fought game. Nobody wins by more than 7. Could go either way depending on execution and making the fewest mistakes (go figure). One of several games I'd love to see in person. Good luck Creekwood!
  10. Well, this is the first time I have gotten to see the guys since the PJP II game. Very impressive! I came away from that game with one clear picture: this group may not be as talented as last year, but not only are they very solid and sound in their game....they play with a TON OF HEART! Goes to prove that discipline and hard work can beat talent any day! Everybody who carried the ball refused to go down on the initial hit. They were getting an extra 3 - 5 yards on most plays with pure determination and heart. Great job Bobcats and bring it back next week for another victory!
  11. Looks like two completely different football teams. I suspect it actually might be a high scoring affair to be decided in the 4th. I say 31 - 28 whoever wins.
  12. In no way, shape, or form do I think Macon Co. is going to be a "pushover". Notre Dame will have a fight on their hands. However, the only difference in some teams is that those who win know how to do so in the clutch. Greenbrier went through that....not knowing how to win the close games to almost always winning the close games. If I'm not mistaken, Macon Co. was in most of their games until late 3rd Quarter/Early 4th Quarter. The only exception was against Station Camp and they haven't learned how to win, period.
  13. Although this should be a good game, I'd have to give the edge to Notre Dame. No matter how good Dallas is, he hasn't been good enough for Macon to win 10 games....only 5. So, Macon is more than beatable. As a matter of fact, Macon didn't beat a single team that had a winning record except a 2A team. And, their only loss that was less than 11 points was to another 2A team. Also, Notre Dame may play in the 2d easiest Region in 3A, but they came from Div II where the competition was stiffer and are no stranger to tough competition. I suspect the 3 - 4 hr bus ride will also have an impact on Macon. Notre Dame by 10.
  14. Great job Bobcats! Wish I could have been there, but was on the road to see family here in South Carolina. However, got frequent phone updates. I was on the edge of my seat the whole ride! We have only been here for 6 years, but to me this win seems to be as big as the one we had last year over Kingsbury to send us to Murphreesboro. To end the streak with the region title on the line and in a year when not many expected much.....HUGE! You have created your own identity that no one will forget! Keep it going!
  15. Oooops! You are right about that Jsmack. I missed the little part where it said "after each of the following steps you go back to C." I was thinking you went through all of D to get #2 before you went back to C.
  16. Hey Catfish, I just realized that Giles could finish 3rd and Creekwood 4th....it is the same way Greenbrier would end up 3rd if they lose to White House. Here's the TSSAA rules again: Based on this, if there is a 3-way tie for 2nd place, Cheatham gets 2nd place. Creekwood and Cheatham both would have 8 victories vs. Giles' 5 victories. That eliminates Giles from 2d place and 2d place ONLY. That does not automatically make them #4. Then you have to go down to step 2 in part D with Cheatham and Creekwood. They both have only one win over a team with a .500 record or better. So now you go to step 3. This is where Cheatham gets 2d place. Their opponents have a total of 41 wins. Creekwood's have a total of 36 wins. And, given that they had 8 common opponents, this Friday's games are not enough to swing that in Creekwood's favor. Now, with Cheatham owning second place, the process STARTS OVER for 3rd place. In that case, Giles gets 3rd place due to their head-to-head win over Creekwood. So, the bottom line is if Giles does beat Marshall Co., they will get at least the #3 seed....if not the #2.
  17. COACHHARD, they are actually doing the same thing for each one. This is done just like the NFL tie-breaking system. You determine 1st Place first and ONLY first place. Once that is done, you start it all over again for second place. Head-to-head is the first tie-breaker there. Since they all beat each other you go to the second tie-breaker and look at overall record. If that singles out one team, then they get first place. Now, the tie-breaker starts over for 2nd Place. You look at the first tie-breaker again, which is head-to-head. I agree that it doesn't pass the common sense test, but it does pass the logic test......and we know that logic and common sense don't always match up!
  18. But now, if we only let the "players on the field" decide the game, then you have an even bigger problem. Like you said, the players are out there playing their heart out. That goes for both sides of the ball. If a defensive player is following the rules and playing his heart out, but he gets held by an offensive player that is also playing his heart out, should the referee not throw a flag? Your statement above is pretty moronic! That is like praying before a game and asking for a victory. God is rooting for BOTH teams.
  19. Actually, Creekwood is in the driver's seat for the #2 seed in your division (and hence a home playoff game). They could even lose and still get the #2 seed. If they win, Cheatham Co. has to win (no matter what Giles Co. does) or Giles Co. has to lose for them to get #2. Also, they wrap up the #2 seed if all three teams lose due to head-to-head wins over both Cheatham Co. and Marshall Co. They would only NOT get the #2 seed if they lose and either Cheatham Co. or Giles Co. wins or if they win and Cheatham loses and Giles wins.
  20. Based on the play of the Bobcats' defense the last three games, I'll say that Ladd won't break the century mark. .....and being a Greenbrier fan, of course I am going to "pick" Greenbrier to win.....but it is obviously anybody's game! I think it is time for the streak to end. Bobcats - 20 Blue Devils - 17
  21. Great job on the 28 - 17 win, Bobcats! Can't wait to hear the details of how the game went. I am guessing by the score that they didn't completely shut down "Dallas", but obviously good enough!!! One more win gets the region.
  22. Lipscomb by at least 20 points....and that is only if they play the 2d string a lot. Marshall is definitely down this year and DL is their usual self.
  23. Below is copied and pasted right from the TSSAA Regulations on their website: So, according to this, it does matter who Greenbrier loses to. If Greenbrier beats Macon and loses to White House, then Pearl Cohn would be region champs based on team with the most victories (Step 1 in Part D). Then, the tie-breaking procedure starts over again at step C (notice the part in bold and underlined above in Part D). Then, White House finishes 2nd due to the head-to-head over Greenbrier according to rule C. Greenbrier MUST beat White House to win the region championship or to even have a home playoff game! Losing to Macon would mean the difference between a #3 seed and a #4 seed unless they beat White House. Bottom line is that there are still TOO MANY scenarios left to figure it all out. The Bobcats have to just take 'em "one game at a time" and keep on winning! Also, anyone else noticed how GUTLESS tim bdp (blue devil punk) is? Haven't heard a peep out of him since Friday night. Can't wait to see his smack next week before the big game!
  24. Macon has definitely improved, but the Bobcats are focused and I suspect the coaching staff will keep them that way. They have to win 1 of these last 2 games to ensure themselves a home playoff game in the first round. However, they could lose this game and still win the region by beating White House. Unfortunately, history has proven that beating White House is not a very easy task for GB. Bobcats by 7 - 10 points.
  25. Tim, if you are a MAN, you will come back onto the Greenbrier/Pearl Cohn thread and admit how wrong you were. A real MAN doesn't run away and hide when he puts the proverbial FOOT IN THE MOUTH! What did you say....PC by 21 or more points?!?!?!?!????? HA HA HA HA HA!
