  1. The last time I checked this was a Sequoyah thread too. Forgive me, I forgot you think we are lower than you and should act like guests and only talk about how great Central is and how much wrong Sequoyah has done to you over the years.
  2. I was asked my opinion by someone other than Mr. Lowry. I guess I was being defensive because of the accusations that I have to defend against even to this day. For that I apologize, but you know just as well as anybody (not knocking you just meaning you know how I feel) that you can only take so much of someone making accusations and trying to attack your character, that sometimes you read to much into something that is simply put. As far as the coaching stability, I do agree 100%, there hasn't been any stability. Coach Staff for 2 years, Meadows for 2, Smith 1, Kerley 4, Holloway 2, Summey 1, and now Satterfield. Kerley has been the only one that was given any amount of time. For lack of better terms, I think it has been a joke, and that is why we have to defend our program against others in the region, because it has become a laughing stock. I hate that more than anything, because I coached some of those kids in youth league, and I want to stand up for them. Some I didn't coach, but I still admire them and appreciate the athletes they have become. I, for one, was too critical of Elisha last year and after watching some game films over again, realized that fact. This year, I have been one of the first to applaud him, he has done a wonderful job as have the rest when you factor in that they have had to learn three different offenses in three years and still continue to adapt. And just so I cover all the bases, the opinion I gave to the one that asked for it was this: Bill Satterfield was a good coach at Vonore who went on to Greenback and in 20+ years only had 2-3 losing seasons if that. Won a state championship in 1987, went to Grace Christian Academy in Knoxville and started a program from scratch and in the 2 years there, was in the playoffs both times. Has good people skills and enjoys coaching football. If he was willing to commit to 5 years or more, then I thought he would be a good hire. If he wasn't willing, we didn't need him and probably need to find a young coach who is willing to put the time in necessary to building a program. I also said that everyone I have known from the three schools that he coached at that had played for him or been around the programs, liked him, and had nothing but good things to say about him and his coaching abilities. The conversation ended.
  3. Great post and I would have to say I agree totally. Whats past is past, so focus on the present and the future.
  4. Thanks OldSchoolCharger and elhosel. You guys have the right attitude. Your team is good enough. The attitude should be-go in kick butt and leave and let everyone left in the wake talk about how impressive your team was. It always sounds better when other people brag on a team anyway. South Pitt fans had nothing but good things to say about your team and many more will do the same if the select few will quit trashing and disrespecting all the other programs. To the Central fans that deserve the respect: Hope Friday night gives you your money's worth and all your athletes play injury free. After Friday night, good luck with your season and I personally hope Central, along with the 3 other region teams, make a lot of noise in the playoffs. By the way, your youth league has been bragged about since their trip to Vonore. Everyone has talked about the respect that everyone showed for the facilities and the respect both Vonore and Central coaches showed toward each other. If you don't mind, pass that along to them. It looks like Central has some good talent coming up for the future also.
  5. I don't think they need you reminding them of this for motivation, but thanks for attempting to make our program look bad to make yours look better. You don't have to resort to this, but apparently you feel the need to bring up every incident. The players involved did not know the player was still down and had started before the injury. They were reprimanded for that. No one tried to stop them (that I know of), because most everyone else knew there was an injury and was waiting to see if he was alright or not. But you probably don't care about none of this, all you probably care about is that it happened. Keep running the Chiefs down and calling them weak, thats fine. Just remember this, you were down once, now your up, be careful of your actions because someday you may be down again and your doing a good job of making sure you have enough people lined up to REMIND you of your past actions without knowing the whole story. To the sensible fans from Central, good luck Friday night and don't let these few bad apples ruin the whole bunch.
  6. t-mac, let me just say, a region thread is not the same without your comments. Good luck to all region teams Friday.
  7. I did, and thanks for explaining yourself. All is well. LOL!
  8. Well Dave, I really don't know how to take this. Most everything that you have said is what some have accused me of doing, so I'm not sure if that is the direction your throwing that or not. If not, sorry I read it that way. As far as how a coach is hired, I do believe there should at least be input sought from the coaches that would be remaining with any staff, at the very least. I just want to be clear one last time, I never played for coach Satterfield, unfortunately. I never recommended his hiring. I was asked what I thought about him and I gave my opinion based on his combined coaching experience at Vonore, Greenback, and Grace Christian. If that got him hired, then so be it, but like I said before, I do not believe I weild that much power. I was for him the first three times he applied and was told by the last Director of Schools that he would never coach at Sequoyah as long as he and the principal were there. That is when I gave my OPINION to him of Ronnie Summey. The only time I have been to the BOE was to attend a school board meeting and take my wife out to get signed up as a substitute teacher and occasionally pick up her check. So when RedChief posted that I had been seen at "Oak Grove" and accused me of strong arming Mike Lowry, that was totally false. The only conversations I have had with Mr. Lowry since his hiring have been to congratulate him on his hiring and one other time to let him know that I was attending classes to one day become a teacher. He is one of my former teachers (I know this will go over real well) and I just wanted to update him on what one of his former students was doing. The politics in Monroe County have never been worth bragging about, and that is just my opinion.
  9. I'm not overlooking Loudon, just going off of what has been posted. It has sounded like some people feel there is problems at Loudon. If there isn't, then Loudon should be as good as always. I was not one of those that said Loudon would lose to LC and CAK, in fact I picked Loudon over both of them. I just think Greenback will pull this one out because after the Central game Loudon didn't look as good as last year. I think I stated that after the CAK game I wasn't as sure.
  10. Well, its been a while, but I did confirm Friday night that Perry Hull is the new coach.
  11. Thanks guys. I hope he sticks around for awhile, his plans are for long term anyway. I'm not too sure I want it to become that kind of rivalry. Man you guys are harsh towards one another! LOL!! Good luck guys, and again I hope we are respectable hosts.
  12. After the Central game, I was giving Greenback the game. After the CAK game, I'm not as confident. I do think Greenback is better than last year and I don't think Loudon is as strong as last year. Greenback 26 Loudon 18.
  13. And that is the way it should be. Congrats on your season so far and best of luck after Friday night, just can't wish you any luck for Friday. LOL! I was glad to read on the other thread about the improved GPA and volunteer work that has been done. That says a lot about character and discipline in the classroom. Hopefully this will be a respectful game between the two respected teams. Good luck to all athletes and hope all can go injury free.
  14. I'm a 3-3A fan too thug. Thanks for noticing the improvement. As far as overall talent, I would dare say this Central team is the most talented in the region in quite a while. I hope the only thing you don't like about your trip to the Chop House is the final score. LOL!!!
  15. I do believe that this topic is on another thread so lets not get into the accusations of running the score up. If you have an axe to grind thats fine, the coaching staff at the time was told that some day that would come back to bite us. We are prepared for it, but at the same time, we have the confidence that our defense won't let it get that out of hand. I don't know why you have to post a defensive post with an attitude on here. Everyone elses post have been good communication between two schools with a hint of respect for the two programs. What happens, happens, and it will be between the athletes and coaches. I hope you paid attention to dumdum's post. A lot of people assume things happen without knowing what really happened. His explanation of the "onside" kick should have cleared that up. His son is a good person and a good kicker. Sometimes mistakes happen, especially when it is younger guys. He tries hard on every play and feels like he has let his team down when he doesn't make something happen on every play. Nerves can effect everyone. But like I said, if you still feel like you have a payback to give because of your grudge, go talk to your coach and put in your request. It won't be the first time that its happened (giving a payback), and won't be the last.
  16. Who would have thought Tellico would occupy the fourth spot in the region after the first week of region play? If the season was ended right now, they would be in the playoffs! Snapped a 15 game losing streak. It seems the majority goes with Central and Howard 1 & 2, Polk 3, and 4 up for grabs. Not settled on Polk at 3 yet. Nothing against them but just not comfortable with that prediction yet. I do think if it plays out, Polk, East Ridge, and Sequoyah can be in a three way race for the final two spots. He posted on the first page Central and Howard.
  17. Warhorse you sound like a sensible guy. I will give credit were credit is due, Central is definitely a good team with a load of talent. Sequoyah is a work in progress and the players are really working hard. I think the past two years everyone involved with Sequoyah (players, coaches, and fans) have really become serious about football and improving the program. No knock on any previous players and coaches, but the past two years have really made great strides in Sequoyah football. Central is not long removed from the same situation and hopefully in the very near future (hopefully starting Friday night), Sequoyah can make even greater strides to getting to the same competitive level. I'm with dumdum, my heart stays with the Chiefs and I know anything is possible. Here's hoping for the best for the Chiefs.
  18. Sorry to hear that.Definitely praying for a speedy recovery.
  19. Very well put. I believe someone has finally hit the nail on the head.
  20. SWildcat1967, Do you know when the Sweetwater girls soccer team plays at Sweetwater? Have they already played Sequoyah? If possible, could you get me a Sweetwater soccer roster too? I have an old friend that I haven't seen in years that has a daughter playing. I just found out last night, and I am going to suprise them. If you know it, post it on the Sequoyah thread or e-mail me at kkvol33@aol.com. BTW, the statkeeper is supposed to bring me the stats of the Sweetwater/Sequoyah game next Friday night. As soon as I get them I will shoot them over to you. Thanks
  21. Congrats to Central on their ranking. Although I agree that the rankings don't mean much especially this early in the season, it does mean something to the players. It can affect a team two ways. It can either make them think they are invincible and make them a tougher team, or it can make them think they are invincible and become mistake prone because of inflated egos. Central was a good team last year and I think they are out to prove it wasn't a fluke. Central 24 Meigs 6.
  22. I think the long ride will play a factor in the game. Both teams have hard nosed players. Tellico 18 Grundy County 16.
  23. I personally didn't take anything you said as trying to tear down, others may have, but I thought you brought up some interesting questions and points. I do think that you got a little caught up in a battle of words with slobber, but you were not the first and probably won't be the last! LOL! I think it is good that we can question some things from time to time, I personally think that shows concern for the program. I have agreed with every poster on here at one time or another, even if I disagree with some of them a lot of time. That is the difference of opinions, and although I may not agree with some of the posts, I do respect them for their posts. Anyway, glad to hear that the coaches are involving the younger kids in the practices. This will go a long way in providing depth and building towards years to come. With the off week, is anyone planning on attending other games? Meigs goes to Central and that is where a lot of people will probably wind up, just curious what everybody is doing in the off week. I'm kind of debating on making the trip to Sunbright to watch Greenback because my wife has some relatives that play for Greenback. If I don't go there I will probably wind up at Central. There was some concern about the cramping situation in the Sweetwater game, but there was less in the G-P game, so I figure most of it in the first game was because of the humidity and may not have been that preventable. If it was due to conditioning, maybe this extra week will help resolve it. Good luck Chiefs, players, staff, and fans.
  24. In an attempt to get everyone moved back to this thread, (which is what some people have asked for on the other thread), I want to respond to some things posted on the other thread. I was at the game Thursday night, and I tend to agree with most people, I felt we should have, and could have run the ball in the last 4 minutes. I do recall when we had the ball deep in G-P territory ( not sure what yard line), a running play was called but was stopped because of a penalty. I can understand not running at least that same play, because you have already showed your hand. I felt like we could run the ball, and why we didn't may always be a mystery, but all I can imagine is that the coaching staff saw something we did not. What I don't know, but I do know that we are questioning the decision of our coaches who were matching wits with a man who has been at the same school for 30+ years. Anyway, a lot of questions can be asked that will probably never be answered, but I just wanted to say that I too thought we could have and should have run the ball. Although it would have been nice to have won the past two games, they meant nothing compared to what is coming up. It's time to get prepared for Central and the rest of the region where every game counts. Good luck Chiefs, players and coaching staff.
