I laughed out loud, too. That was the highlight of the game Maybe ESPN will keep doing it all year. I'm sure someone from Maryville has already emailed ESPN to let them know of their error and to let them know just how much of a "powerhouse" maryville is. One of the sheep here probably even emailed their record, Carl's stats, etc.

That was funny. I could see the blood pressure of the Maryville sheep on here rising right after he said that. I bet he said to himself, "Well darn, in the media guide it says he's from Alcoa, but it lists his high school as Maryville High? What do I say on the air? Which is it?" Looks like even ESPN is in Maryville recruiting tail!

The UT game tonight on ESPN (as sad as it was) did have a few funny lines. I found one particularly interesting (and I'm sure a few Maryville fans threw their remotes when they heard it). Low and behold, Maryville should have gotten some pub on ESPN tonight. Carl Stewart, one of Maryville's finest from the past decade, got in the game for Auburn on their last drive. The commentator on TV stated that, "On the carry was Carl Stewart from ALCOA, just right down the road"...yes, he looked at the media guide and saw where Carl actually LIVED growing up instead of mentioning the high school he attending out of his district... Maryville fans, it always catches up with you one way or another, sometimes in funny ways. I hope Carl's parents recorded the game!

One of you twisted my post around. I said Maryville has a "system"...Maryville does NOT have great "athletes"...that's a JOKE! The fastest player on Maryville's team this year runs a legit 4.6 40. Maryville hasn't had a lot of great "athletes" at all the last few years. They have a great system and their players work hard.

Every week it blows my mind how arrogant you guys are. It's unreal to me. I remember Cleveland scoring 70 straight points on Maryville in 1993 or so when they had the Cobb brothers. Now THAT was funny. That team had some "athletes"...Maryville has a "system". Carl Stewart is the last big-time "athlete" Maryville has had.

Meigs left the sprinklers on for 3 days prior to that game in 1993. The field was nothing but a huge pile of mud. They had to negate Alcoa's speed and that's the way they choose to do it. It was very shady. Alcoa's QB, Nathan McCollum, completed more passes to Meigs County's DB (5) than he did to his own team (4) in that game. It was pathetic. Meigs won 24-0 and a sweetwater team that was the second best team in the state went on to win the state title.

That's a blowout on a dry field.

You guys were on here throwing around "55-9" for scores and still speaking from atop your vicarious perch's. Maryville just drilled Halls in the first half. That 6-0 beatdown was just a spectacle to beheld. I guess murville just "let them" hang around for a while, just like last week, huh? I wonder where you people will go once you have been humbled? It will be interesting to see.

If you all want to go WAY back, Old Knoxville High won the "mythical national title" several times in the 30's and 40's.
