How did North get drug into this, i'm a North fan.But if you read all my posts in other threads, ive supported and encouraged Volunteer the whole way...Yes North beat Volunteer,at the time they were better.Things are different now and Volunteer has learned what North has been needing to learn.The big difference is Volunteers program is on the way up and Norths is on the way down.If you take the 8th graders out of the enrollment North has 2a numbers.Both schools are alot alike and have been for years and both has under achieved.I want 2 see both schools do well and will be supporting Volunteers run, i say run because i believe they will beat Tenn. High. If you read my posts in the Volunteer Falcons thread you will see how and why.This team dont need stupid distractions now, they shouldnt just be happy makeing it. Reach your full potential anything else should not be satisfactory...They have a chance to take Volunteer to a level that they have never experienced in there history.There very much capable of doing so and that should be the total focus and only disscussion around this team. Not a bunch of jibberish or distractions, they dont even need to waste there breath on defending there position, there play has spoke for itself.And i would really like to see them stay away from the garbage and focus and succeed on what could be something special 4 them.Right now they still havent really done anything but have a good year, dont be a team just satisfied with getting there focus and take this thing as far as you can go with it. You win a playoff game or two and you will change the face of the program for years to come. Prove its no fluke and you can start a tradition here and now,following classes will work harder and believe.I promise you it will make a difference and this group will always know they were the ones who started it all. I think i proved it wasn't 100%, i asked you about these teams before they played.Houston losted to 6-4 Whitehaven(26-7).Smyrna beat a solid Lebanon team(23-7),Lebanon had 3 losses but 2 of them were to Riverdale and Gallatin.And the biggest one questioned was Dickson County which beat the so called sleeper Ravenwood(21-7).... Maybe i should start a true 100% correct poll Riverdale Gallatin Ridgeway Ooltewah Dobyns-Bennett Franklin Smyrna Dickson County White Station Sevier County

Keep it up guys, im proud of ya.Remember what it takes to get it done there is no reason u cant win some playoff games.I truly believe you will pull a huge upset in the first round against Tenn. High. You are everybit as good as they are if not better.Dont try to beat them at there game with big plays and remember there a good team and are gonna make plays dont drop your head know your gonna make plays to, stay in it.Run straight at them right up the gut, and stick with short passes and screens and i garuntee you will beat them.Dont be affraid of throwing a slant or two in there either, stay away from the deep ball.Throw short and run right at em, stay focused espically on special teams and you will win.Take the run away on D and force them to beat you with there passing game and you got em.If you do force them to the air, get pressure on the qb from the corners blitzing the middle is a waste unless its delayed blitz.Im telln you now you do these things and you will pull off a huge upset...Go Falcons good luck guys

It wasnt a case of running up the score.North has had a extremely frustrating year and wasn't playing for anything.They just really was ready for it to be over,they didnt start that way before the game.But as soon as they had the bad breaks at first,they just quit pretty much.Alot of the kids out there were playn hurt and it showed when they kept getting hurt.They just wasnt up to speed, not taking anything away from Tenn. High and i was a little suprised with the speed they had this year.I know they always pretty quick, but they seemed quicker overall this year than usual.One thing i wasnt impressed with was the d-line ive heard so much about.They got pushed around pretty good it looked to me, int., fumbles and pentalties is really what stopped them.I know it 63-0 but i'd say North had 20 runs of 7yds or more which in the playoffs Tenn. High better not let that happen.I look for a 1st round win for them but i dont see them going past that.I hope they do but i dont see it, good luck in the playoffs. As far as North goes its crazy for them to be playn in 4a, it,s stupid really.They have no feeder school, and are barely above 2a enrollment, and probably would be 2a if you didnt count 8th graders.They can compete with 4a schools but not on a weekly basis.They played South, and Central tough year after year while in 3a but they didnt have to play at that level every week.In 3a they had weeks to heal up and rest players, because the competition just wasnt there every week.They would face 2 or 3 teams a year they could handle pretty easy.But the way it is now with no depth and playn 7,8, and even 9 guys both ways the whole game each and every week, it's taking its toll.They probably dont have 30 guys varsity and jv combined, but they have the most bull headed athletic director i've ever seen.Theres not a big difference at the gate, winning will put more people in the stadium than anything.You just cant maintain that level of competition each and every week with no depth at all!!!!!Good luck to all region 1 teams that made it.

Sry waco but i wasnt questioning Riverdale or Ravenwood.I was asking why Sevier County and Houston was in and Smyrna,Woodale, and Dickson County weren't.I just give a little reasoning why i thought maybe one of or two of those teams may should be in.

I'm just curious about something.You have Sevier County 8th with losses to William Blount, and Dobyns-Bennett.Houston at ninth which lost to Bolton and Woodale, and White Station 10th with a loss to Houston.Woodale beat Houston and have only lost to White Station by a score of 21-20. Then there is Smyrna which is 7-2 with there 2 losses coming to Riverdale#1, and Ravenwood"defending champs and #7".Also there is Dickson County whose only losses have been to Riverdale#1(28-6) and Franklin#5(7-6). They gave Riverdale the toughest game they have had, outside there loss to Mcallie.I'm just curious as to why you have Sevier County and Houston ahead of Smyrna,Woodale, and Dickson County.......

The bottom line with a playoff system is you get a true champion no matter what the scenarios are. There is no way you can run all over the state economically, u have some systems that can barely afford to have a sports program.Why send a team all the way across state with families haveing to go that far and flip that kind of expense to see a first round playoff game? Or having a region champ travel somewhere to play somebody who finished 2nd or 3rd in there region, because they have a higher seed.Each region is equally represented and it falls to the playn on the field as to who is the best.You have to play your way there, just because one region is tougher than another doesn't mean nothing.If your not the best team in your region then by no means are you the best in the state or should you recieve favor over a team that has busted its butt and won its region even though there region may be weaker. I agree you may not always get the best 2 in the championship but then again does it ever really happen at any level.Does the super bowl always have the best 2 teams or is the best 2 sometimes in the same division.Ive seen many years where Tennessee and Florida were the best 2 teams in the SEC but yet only one can go to the championship.The bottom line is to be the best you have to beat them regardless if its round 1 or the championship.The way it is now there is nothing political about it and its as economical as possible.Each team knows from spring practice on what they face to get there and win it, no political suprises and nothing controling there destiny but the playing on the field.Thats the way it should be I agree there is some questions to records some making it 3-7 and some not making it at7-3.The bottom line is if your not good enough to at least finish in the top 4 in your conference you dont need to be there.Many teams could schedule powder puffs as non-conference games to have a record, that really means nothing.Alot of teams scedule tough non-conference games to help prepare them for conference and playoff games.Why should those teams be punished for not taking the easy road and are earning there spot in the playoffs by finishing in the top 4 in conference again they know from day one what they must do to get there, period.Again if there is 4 teams field proven better than you are in 1 conference then how can you really be deserving of any oppertunities.

If Volunteer wins and Daniel Boone loses, they not only make the playoffs but will be the number 3 seed.

North had some people out with injuries.But South was by far the better team, and they did have to much speed.There by far the best team North has seen this year.North didnt play nothing like they have been though.Some of that was do to people playn hurt along with others that missed the game.But mostly because South was just better,they found a weakness and just pounded it.They looked very good and wish them luck.I'll be there watching you guys in the playoffs.

CC will play Volunteer till the end.I've posted in other threads,IF THEY DONT GIVE CC JUST DUE THEY WILL LOSE!!!!!!! All that hard work coming together and turning it around will be for nothing.The goal is to make the playoffs,recently you learned how to win,together.Playing confident is great but confidence is not thinking you will stomp somebody.You have to give respect, confidence is knowing and believing you will rise to the occasion whatever that might be.CC will play you very hard and are going to make plays on you and create oppertunities.You dont need to help them out by thinking you can turn it on anytime you want on them.Momentum works miracles in a football game and you must control that no matter who you are playn.You have to get it and keep it, if they get it theres only 2 ways to get it back.You either make a big play, or turnover or you stall the game till that rush leaves them and the game calms back down.You have to protect from letting them make back to back to back big plays.If they get a turnover dont drop your head for a play or two.Thats when you really have to focus and rise to the occasion as a team.If anybody is dwelling on what just happened(while your not focusing on whats happening now)something else will happen and so on and so on.Before you know it your mind is running behind on every play,and on the scoreboard.CC will not win with personal, but they will beat you with momentum or a lack of respect for them.Do not come out flat or unfocused thinking about playoffs or what could happen with a win here and a loss there and so forth.You guys that play,think about it, when you get momentum on your side you dont feel tired your not thinking of anything else.Its like being in a zone and you are totally focused and in touch with whats going on.On top of the fact, that you feel invincible at the time and you play to the max of your potential during that time.What makes it even more critical is it effects the whole team at the same time, meaning at that time all 11 are playn to there full potential with total concentration at the same time.Good things happen, how can a team look so dominating in one drive and look bad for the next 4 or 5 drives, or even the rest of the night.Good teams know how to seize the momentum in a game and keep it.They come out early and establish it and dont slack or lapse and allow the other team to take it.I have a really bad feeling about a letdown for you guys this week.If you want to win you better have your mind serious about it and realize it will take every bit the effort to win this game as it did for Boone!!!! I didn't say i didn't like the bump n run though.It's actaully my favorite, i like putting the pressure on the offense to make a play.Play em tight, bring the heat and make them get rid of it quick.Without pressure man coverage is hard to play.I dont like zones 2 much, every zone has holes in them.And you can find a weakness, alot of times its in the linebacker area.Not many linebackers in high school are very good in coverage,but in many zones they have a assignment.They just dont have the time to practice it, most of there time in practice is stopping the run.They know there coverage but as far as practicing gaurding a man,or picking up a man in there zone they dont practice it.Whether it's cover 1,2,or 3 any of them have holes in them, a good off. cor. will have a designated reciever to run a route for each.Then it's up to the qb to recognize the coverage and thus hit the reciever with a route designated for that zone.But most high schools pretty much sticks with the same coverage barring certain situations.It's not that complicated really,say there in cover 2.That means two guys got deep assignment one right halfthe other left.It's not that hard to beat u have te right, and 2 reciever set right.Have reciever on left side run a go, streak whatever you wanna call it.He draws deep safety left side over qb looks that way first, makes sure he pulls over.Right side te runs seam or go, outside reciever runs curl, and inside reciever runs a wheel.Starts with a 7yd out toward sidelines turning upfield.You've cleared the middle and the read is the right side safety.He either has to jump the te down the middle or the outside man on the wheel.Whichever he takes qb goes to the other.The biggest thing about defense to me is taking away what the other team feels comfortable with and likes to do.Every offense has a base package that they practice hard on everyday all season.Each week they put in some things to that for that particular opponent.If you take away there base package, then you put them in a area of less comfort.They can get tight, not have confidence in decision makeing, plus the fact there running a offense that they have not practiced nearly as much.Making blocks they havnt made a thousand times, running different routes,putting the ball in hands not used to having it and so on.Odds are the exacution and timing is not going to be there.Blown assignments, and mistakes,turnovers usually follow and more importantly not confident decision making, frustration,and confussion.Sometimes you have to sellout to do this,but if your not stopping a team with what there doing there gonna beat you anyway,period.I'd rather take that chance and try to create a mistake as wait and hope they make one.

To b successful in bump and run you have to b a tenth to two tenths quicker than the guy in front of you, and it's critical to know how to play it.There's alot to coverages,theres ways to beat the bump n run, and zones.If the other team in bump n run all you have to do is find a match up you can win, and beat it in the ground.They either have to pull help or change personal, but theres always a way you can get a match up thats in your favor.You also have to be able to trust front seven to stuff the run, you cant play bump and run and read the qb.You are responsible for that man in front of you and need to keep eyes on him to a point.Ever see recievers drive db's out of the play without laying a hand on em.It's one of the best blocks in the world.You can play outside the man and still see play develope,but good coach will beat you to death with slants and inside curls.You can bump and still play zone, your better suited to mix coverages up in high school or play zone.Zone is easier to teach and less responsibility which usually leads to better exacution.If you are a far more athletic team(as is the case alot in high school) you can bout do what you want.It doesn't come down to individuals, it's your whole defensive unit,not only that but theres alot of variables that dictate what d you should play.Can't be stubbron and try and make what you want to work,work.You need to do what will work, it is high school.

The brewing confrence showdown ypur reffering to i hope is CC.Cause if your talking bout useing this week to get ready for next week,your gonna be on here crying Saturday morning that i promise u..CC is no joke, they are a dangerous team to be playn for you guys right now.Regaurdless of last week this is the one game that they believe they can win.Meaning they will be playn you guys with confidence the one thing thats hurt them in earlier games.You guys on the other hand was loud early but after early season woes u got quiet(on the board).You became more focused and won some ballgames.Now this week you got threads running everywhere youd think you won the super bowl Friday.You havent did nothing yet i mean nothing!Go ahead and get caught up in excitement cause the future looks brighter.But in that your gonna lose the focus that turned it around and got you to this point.Better quit thinking what may happen and do the work to make it happen.Unless your satisfied sayin well at least we beat Boone this year, but if you want to make the playoffs and do something meaningful better get back to the focus and determination that gave you this oppertunity.

I have to say it was a great football game.Clean hard hitting fun game to watch. Usually in a game like that, there is fighting and junk.But both teams kept it between the whistles and gave and took there shots cleanly.I have respect for JC and there program the play hard and physical but show class.Proud of both teams!!Good luck to the Longhorns

Don't let up stay focused as a team and you will get there.Do not overlook CC, you dont want to blow the great chance you have.It would be a miserable feeling to go through all the adversity and then all the hard work and effort to turn it around to lose to CC.What you guy's have done builds a great amount of character so losing to them would be like them stealing your character from you.Keep and demand each other focused during the week on CC or you want be on Friday night.Thats all that counts now, there are no more second chances.You have the makings of a special season so go make it special, don't feel like you've accomplished anything just because u beat Boone. Never be satisfied when it comes to football, strive and desire more and you will be successful.Then when it's over you can look back and gauge your accomplishments.There should be know Hawkins county match ups mentioned, PERIOD! That game in reality is meaningless if you don't take care of CC!!!Good Luck

JC 27- SN 20 I thought both teams played very hard and am proud of both.Just like so much for the Raiders they had a chance.Just like the post i made last night it came down to the end and they were outta gas.I still don't understand some of their decision making.Taking nothing away from Johnson county i feel North should have one the game.Why they didnt go for the first down on 4th and a foot early in the game deep in JC territory,i don't know.The end of the 3rd qtr lining up for a game tying field goal, everybody could see how disorganized they were.I was dieing for them to call time out, i told everybody something bad was about to happen, they were to outta sync.That was a critical time in game and those points were crucial at the time.Sure enough bad snap and loss of 20 yrds and no points.This is not the first time critical points were lost on disorganized field goal.It's different if your way behind or ahead or even at different stages in the game.It's happen a few times, why not call time out get orginized and let the kicker take time to get his bearings.I mean on the ones that could have major bearing on the outcome of the game.It was the same thing with 2 or 3 min. left and going for the tie, i was livid but when i see JC calling timeout i was so thankful.I mean at the time that kick was the game and the kicker who is also the qb took a beating on that drive.And if you have a d-back thats strugglin and teams r picking on them every week heavily with success.Why not do something, i know they don't have a capable fill in but u could at least switch sides with him inconsistantly on different plays to at least make the other team have to guess where he's gonna be at.I don't understand on Norths last drive why the fullback never touched the ball when they got deep in JC territory.He had been tearing it up.I also dont understand how in the spread the middle of the field was wide open and not once was it ever tested.I cant figure out why their scared to death to throw a slant,its practically being handed to them.I know i sound like im bashing im just frustrated,i feel they should just have 1 loss.This coaching staff is probably the best thats been at North,and have done a great job.They are gonna be successful, they have been very competitive and have had theirself in position to have a great chance to win in every game they have played.Thats what should be expected of coaching, it's up to the kids to finish it.I guess i just expect to much sometimes and i am proud of what there doing.They played to win and went for it tonight,almost pulling it off.
