  1. That's what I did. I got into coaching the youth teams. Wasn't quite the same, but it's fun passing on knowledge.
  2. I went to neither school, nor am I an English teacher. All I know is if you want the Maryville fans to be gracious losers, don't be a sore winner
  3. First of all, it's You Weren't, not you wasn't. And act like you've won a game before
  4. im still working on getting the squad i coach to be able to stand in a group for the whole game without a few of them wandering off
  5. good job Cats and best of luck next week. pulled one upset, go for 2 in a row
  6. Go for it!!!! BUT, running your own gym isn't cheerleading. A gym will make you money, cheerleading won't
  7. quick update for those interested. apparently rockson is hobbling around on crutches on doctors orders. everything seems A-ok rockmom is also hanging in there. keep thinking of her
  8. sweetwater seems to be rolling after getting through their rocky start. i think they'll continue the win streak for at least one more week. 42 - 28
  9. if you want your school cheerleaders to be at a wresling match, then have them there. but unlike football where they are down next to the playing field, or basketball where they are on the baseline, there is no room for them at a wrestling match next to the mats. they would have to be in the stands with the fans
  10. Not enough for it to be a career choice
  11. yes 48-3 over, i think it was Shelby County, but i can't remember for sure if that's what was told to me
  12. just a quick update. rockmom's son is out of the hospital and resting at home and everything is going well. They can still use your thoughts and prayers as they go forward with the intensive rehab though.
  13. some of you may know rockmom, she is a member of the site. her son was injured in a game and suffered a broken hip. he is through with surgery and everything seems to be going well, but there is still a long rehab coming for him. so both he and rockmom could use your thoughts and prayers. Hang in there rockmom and god bless.
  14. unfortunately, professional cheerleading is more dance than cheerleading or gymnastics. most of them are professional fitness trainers or dance students or teachers. i don't cheer in college, but i do coach some youth squads for youth league games, so i still get to flex my cheer muscle
  15. that's practice for us. when you are practicing football or basketball or even wrestling, are you not in a sport because it's practice? we are simply working routines and such for competitions
  16. welcome to the fight. finally more people on my side
  17. next time keep the remote control in your lap, and do some stretching before you reach for the chips and dip. apparently your couch coach isn't doing his job, because his team is always hurt
  18. 26 - 12 is not beating someone like they are nothing. A win is a win and it's nice to get that first one. But they are still 1 - 2 and one of those was a butt whippin. hopefully the wildcats will get on a role, but to talk about them like they are kings of the world again is a bit premature. they will need to prove it on the field. that being said, sweetwater 20 alcoa 17
  19. i never said they were better or harder. that is left to those who try them all to decide. i was simply saying that just as those people train hard to compete in their sports, cheerleader train hard to compete in theirs. And they deserve the same respect
  20. never cheered at a wrestling match, but don't think i'd want too. as with most sports, the main focus is on the match, but in football and basketball there are other things to pay attention too, if you as a fan choose to. wrestling matches are usually in the dark towards the finals and only a spot on the center mat for people to focus on. in the early round of tourneys, and id imagine at matches, there are several matches going on at once, and no room for anything else
  21. thanks for proving my point, i never said they weren't sports. I think they are. I only said IF YOU didn't consider cheering a sport then the others weren't. i agree it takes a lot to do the other things, and they can't be learned in a day, neither can cheerleading. it takes time to learn how to hold people up and keep balance while the are moving around then throw and catch them.
  22. dissapointed with sweetwater's first game, but i think they will rebound 17 - 14
  23. you have admitted already that we are athletes. and it can be agreed that at the state and national level we compete in competitions. that makes us competative athletes. competetive athletes compete in sporting events. IF, as you contend, cheerleading is not a sport, then the following are also not sports: hunting/fishing , any sort of car race (NASCAR or the indy 500), track and field events (lets face it, anyone can run around in a circle or jump), horse racing (people don't do anything but sit on the back. the horse does all the work), archary and shooting (it's in the olympics) , figure skating, swimming, diving, bicycling (my 5 YO niece can ride a bike)
