  1. swildcat1967-Your dreaming there is no way they will tell you why they threw that game by having there best cover man on the bench. I agree with you about him being one of the best around. Look back on the season there was only one pass completed on him and that was in the Rockwood game. Most of the teams will not even throw his way. I can count on won hand how many times he had been thrown at all year. They would not even throw to 6 foot 4 J. Jones from Sequoyah when Moore was on him. DJ from Os did not even look his way. And when he is on the field and someone does catch it you can bet your butt he will run them down. The coaches decision made no sense at all. I feel sorry for the senoirs(and the rest)that worked so hard all year and they go play a passing team with Moore on the bench. There was not one player on Alcoa's team that could go 70 yards with Moore chasing. Coach Rhodes I know you know better than that what got in to you.
  2. Tank-You said it in your last post about the tallent its about the same but the score did not reflect it. You did not see Alcoa's weapons setting on the sidelines did you? Moore had big plays for the cats all season but he only touched the ball on punts that were not returnable. If you can't throw it to him hand it to him. And as far as before the half Dustin is not going to break a 70 yard run against Alcoas speed it would have to be Jam or Jeffery. I will give Alcoa credit they played a good game and I will pull for the winner of os and alcoa in the finals. In a playoff game why would you have Dustin and Jeffery on the bench during defense. Alcoa beat a good under coached Sweetwater team.
  3. Tank-So your your saying when you are playing Alcoa(probably the best passing team in the regoin) you should stack the line and forget the pass. Well maybe a few times but when you see you can't get the qb its time to drop back. I may be wrong but I don't think we sacked him all night so our game plan was not working and they changed nothing. You need to watch the film there recievers out numbered our dbs in the secondary and they was wide open the entire game and catching passes while we were blizting trying to get the qb. My gosh the qb was taking a two step drop and throwing a quick out. You can't sack him on that. Bottom line is you have to make adjustment during a game to win the big ones and you have to play your best players. Another thing we had the ball with 2 and half minutes before the half and our coaching staff was happy with a tie and let the clock run down. Whats up with that go for the endzone. After there sorry performance last night I am glad I have a whole year before they coach again.
  4. Tank-I did not say Moore could cover them all. I said he could have easily ran them down. And yes on the screen pass the safety was not blocked he had an open shot to catch the guy but did not. Yes if Moore would have been on the field he would have caught the guy stopping the big play. My gosh man Alcoa had atleast four long tds with no one even close to stopping them. Sweetwater ran the same defense all night. Except they would blitz a linebacker ever now and then. So yeh I am still point at the coaching, mainly defense, but yes also the head coach for not putting in his fastest player. They got beat on defense the entire game and never made the firts change to try and stop it. They were playing the run and Alcoa was passing almost every down.
  5. catsfan84- It worked,ha! I guess thats why we had so many points. We were inside the 20 atleast three times and it did not work then. When you get in the red zone you have to do something different. In case you did not noticed they beat us bad. If it worked we would have had more points. Also inside the 20 on fourth down why not kick a field goal?
  6. I heard coach Rhodes say on the radio why they lost but I did not once hear him say it was bad coaching. I have been watching SW football for many years and tonights game was the worst coached game I have ever seen them play. I think they ran the same play about 30 times. And the defense lord help them. Alcoa smoked you at least three times on a short pass in the middle and not one player back there with the speed to catch them. You had the fastest player(moore)on the bench who could have easly caught the reciever preventing the big play. You were playing the best passing team in the region and you had two young freshmen playing db's. Alcoa passed the ball with ease. Its no secret that moore is one heck of an athlete and its like he did not even play. I also bet that Latham could have helped put pressure on the qb to but did not get a chance. In high school ball your best players have to touch the ball. You made no adjustments what soever to stop the pass. Its a shame for the players that worked so hard all year and the coaches loose a game like that. So players hold your head up you did not get out played you got out coached.
  7. Sweetwater by 9. Kickoff at Goddard Field is 7 p.m. ``We know where Sweetwater's been,'' Tornado coach John Reid said. ``They've been up against some tough teams.'' The Wildcats (6-5) shocked the Class 2A playoff brackets with an opening-round 27-23 win at Gatlinburg-Pittman last week. It's a shock to some Sweetwater stopped the heavily-favored Highlanders. Not Reid. ``It's not too surprising,'' he said. ``I thought that could be a good game. They (the Wildcats) can cause you some problems with the athletes they have.'' Wildcat stars Dustin Latham, Jam Ferguson and Jeffrey Moore combined to throw more speed at G-P than the Highlanders were prepared to handle. Latham's 36-yard burst with four minutes remaining, his second score of the night, put the Wildcats ahead to stay. Moore's 41-yard kickoff return set up another score. Ferguson further added to the Highlanders' troubles with a scoring run from 30 yards. ``Latham's powerful and he's got some good moves,'' Reid said. ``Ferguson's got the speed, and he's strong. They're as good a backfield as you'll see at the 2A level.'' Sweetwater will also come to Alcoa with an ax to grind. The Tornadoes jumped ahead early and held on to subdue the Wildcats, 21-14, in a Week 5 clash in Sweetwater. Alcoa, finding its legs, hasn't lost since. ``That's so long ago, both teams have changed drastically since then,'' Reid said. ``We're both better teams.'' The Tornadoes entered postseason one of the state's hottest teams last week. Sophomore Dustin Lindsey has run away and hid with the county rushing title, carrying 175 times on the season for 1,186 yards and 14 touchdowns. Fellow sophomore Brandon Warren has gone ballistic over the last seven games as well. The tight end/wideout is closing on 30 catches for the year, totaling 555 yards and seven scores. Quarterback Joei Fiegler, yet another of Alcoa's talented sophomores beginning to feel a sense of belonging, has riddled defenses for 1,545 yards and 14 scores. ``I think they're getting a feel for playoff football,'' Reid said. ``They're doing a good job executing the offense. Last week we threw to six different players.'' Receivers Ben Fuller, Brad Coulter and Warren and backs Gary Hill, Logan Love and Lindsey each ran under at least one Fiegler pass last week. Fiegler rifled Cumberland Gap for 242 yards and three scores in a 55-22 Tornado rout. Following the Week 5 game, Reid said he knew Alcoa probably hadn't seen the last of the Wildcats. ``We talked about that in the end zone,'' he said, ``and we said, `That's a good team. We'll probably see them again.''' From the daily times
  8. Sweetwater's Jeffery Moore and Dustin Latham.
  9. I tried to tell you people not to count the cats out. Way to go boys!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Game!!! And to all that did not give them a chance. Before you make predictions you need to look a little deeper than the records. The games Sweetwater has lost has been because of mistakes.
  10. Tackle-I believe if you read my other posts I was making a point that lipscomb out numbers all the other AA teams. Say what you want but that is fact. They are in the wrong division. If you can't see that then you are blind. I don't care if they play college ball or not the fact is 70 can beat 30. I will humor you though and give you a list in a little while.
  11. Tackle- Seems like you read up on them. I know one of the coaches I will check with him and let you know who is now playing were, I think your wrong about them not playing at the next level. Bottom line is have you seen them on the field? Well I have. When you have 70 players playing a team with 30 I don't care who you are the smaller team will get beat down. Just like last year Harriman had 17 players and could not compete with 30. Its simple math. And no there size is not inflated. If any thing they are listed smaller than they are. You said it yourself 20+senoirs. You name me one team in east tn. double A that has 20+ senoirs every year. The five A schools rarely have 20+ a year. Why don't you do a little more reading and find out how many of thier players were raised within say about 15 miles of the school. Not many. Go watch them play a team from this side and then we will see what you have to say. TSSAA needs to give them the boot out of the division they are in. If you are talking about the roster I posted on this thread it did not come from the Tennesseean, It came from lipscomb university.
  12. Go watch Sweetwater beat G. Pittman on thier own turf. AGAIN!
  13. Kingbrian3-Lets talk about the dreamland your in. Your predicting that Lipscomb would beat Alcoa 35 to 14. Ha HA! Lipscomb is better this year than they were last year. Last year in the playoffs they shutouts against the number 1,2,3 team in the state and then had a shutout in the state title game. The only team that scored on them was Sweetwater and that was 2 points and that was because Lipscomp's punter kicked the ball in the back of one of his own players and it bounced out of the back of the endzone. First of all Alcoa won't make it that far. And if they did trust me it would be more like 48 to nothing with lipscomp calling the dogs off in the fourth. They don't call it Lipscomp UNIVERSITY for nothing.
