This may be the funniest post I've ever read on here. Hey, isn't there a football game tonight?

The '01 and '02 teams of both schools were pretty talented across the board. Since then, Coach Maynord and the crew have taken the SC program to a different level. I do know that GV will play one of their best games of the year tomorrow though, they always do. Amen to tearing down both schools and building one. I guess it's too late for that now though. Also, that semifinals team played way above their talent. That run was the result of a lot of heart and great leadership. Not to downplay their talent, but I just think they were as tough as any team you'll ever see. I do think this SC team is loaded with potential. If they learn to play well together and get a few breaks, this could be a special year.

Yeah, there was no need to call me out, but I don't mind. I have nothing to hide. It's only fair that he should post his own name though if he's going to be posting someone else's. If you're saying that SC's coaching staff is better than Gville's...I agree. Nothing against GV's coaches but I have ultimate respect for SC's staff, for obvious reasons. I agree that 01 and 02 was the last time the rivalry was close in talent. It's hard to argue that you were better when you lost though. On paper, I don't think this game should be close at all, but GV will probably make it closer. This is what they wait for every year. You can say it's the same for us...but it's not anymore. In my opinion, this "rivalry" should die. SC has nothing to gain from it, and GV could get an extra W every year. I look for some fireworks from the SC Offense tomorrow night.

Yes, Gville has lost to SC for 7 straight years because of bad coaching. I love to hear the old gville faithful. You are right about the game meaning something to the players, but it doesn't mean anything more than all the rest of the regular season games. The Owls will come ready to play like they do EVERY OTHER WEEK. This game isn't even as heated as it was 4 years ago, when the kitties were pretty talented and even then it wasn't the SC's players biggest game. I can guarantee that. Owls roll by 3 scores. The real question...what's the over/under on Quarterback draws...I'll take the over.

Come on Bigreid, Are you asking oldsc7 if he feels important?!?!? I think we all know the answer to that question. My prediction for friday...for the 2nd year in a row the owls knock off the future 3A state champions.

I thought you always hated running to the left side oldsc7. Tell me about this year's club. How are they looking other than the White House scrimmage? Are they as fast as I suspect?

Oh, no no. I'm still black and gold to the core. I figure why even argue with our faux rivals. Maybe they'll win one in the next 15 or so years and actually have something to talk about. What is this I hear about a wide open offense this year? Are we going to be lighting up the scoreboard?

I'm thinking that I'll make the trip to Livingston to watch this one. I can't miss the atmosphere that i know LA will have, and I want to see Cates play again. Ya'll LA guys will have to hook me up with some blue and white, us Smith County people don't have any of that in our wardrobe. I can't wait for friday night, it should be a great one. Congrats to Boyd for making the plays to win last night. Make some noise and go get tyner. I just want to say congratulations to these Owl seniors. At the beginning of the year everyone talked about how they had no heart, or they were just riding the past success of the program. I am proud to say that I watched a bunch of boys grow into men this year. The seniors stepped up to lead this team and it showed on the field. I wanna say a special congratulations to Billy Plummer. I played with him when he was a freshman and we thought it was just hilarious to see this skinny kid catch a touchdown pass against cannon county. I'm proud to see that he has become one of the most clutch receivers that I have seen at SC. He steps up at crucial times and embodies everything SC football is all about, Heart and determination. He never gives up and it showed in last night's game. Congratulations to all the seniors. Keep your heads up and be glad to have been another part of SC's tradition.

Great Post. I agree wholeheartedly with every word. You always hear about SCP and that post explained it for me. I made brothers for life on that field and will never forget the memories, good and bad. The work and fun I shared with those other guys on that field made me who I am today and will continue to guide me as I go further. Again, Great Post. There's no feeling in the world like wearing the black and gold for all of Smith County.

Maybe I am a little biased, but I can't see how the teams in the 80's were more athletic. Go back just 3 years to the backfield of Ward, Hackett, and Gibbs, It's hard to beat that athleticism anywhere. I'm not sure about yardage, but I bet Oldsc7 or bigreid could help me out on total rushing yards for hackett and ward. On defense in the past few years you have the Hix brothers who were both outstanding linebackers. Wilmore, IMO, is the toughest player i have seen in an owl uniform. McConnel could turn out to be the best lineman ever to come out of SC. I believe Coach Maynord called Brady the most accurate quarterback he has ever coached last year also. The teams of the past 5 or 6 years are definitely not lacking athleticism.

Well guys, I checked Gordonsville's schedule for tomorrow night and they don't play carthage. They play SMITH COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL. If you're coming to see the gordonsville-carthage game u might wanna come in...say 1940? Anyway, the Owls will come out with the fire they always have after a loss. When's the last time SC lost 2 in a row? It's not going to happen friday night. Good Luck to both teams.
