reddevilfever, You are exactly right. The man is a blemish on the good people of South Knoxville. You must be a player to have seen this man act that way. I certainly saw the many things he has done over the past few years - walking his team out like they are the cockiest bunch of heatherns in the world. Last year at South-Doyle, I heard, with my own ears, Coach Swafford curse the ball boy from Halls (this was not some young kid, but probably a young 30ish, fat, ball boy). Knowing full well who the ball boy was and his connection to Halls, I'm amazed he didn't hit the coach. These instances and many others are probably the reasons for a new direction in the administration at S-D. But Clark Duncan doesn't put up with that for very long.

rbfootball841, Where oh where do I begin. Last year my beloved redevils were 5-5, losing their last three games in a row (Central, West, Carter). Have been running the triple option since the 2000 season, although their first scrimmage they did not run it that much. Different formations, passing game isn't worth the football they use. No imagination. Short little 5-6 yard routes, sometimes they cross two receivers, nothing very fancy. From talking to fans that attended the D-B scrimmage it sounds as if they made some slight improvement. They go versus Jeff. Co. this Tuesday and versus Webb this Friday. See ya in the middle of the season (Red Bank).

qbsdad, Read your post and was going to add it to my scrapbook. BUT, you need a spelling lesson -> i before e, except after c (receiver). Your GED teacher should have taught you that!!

red dog, You sound as if you are close to the program, are you a supporter or former player. Or do you just know everything about anything? How many sophomores are expected to start or play?

f;ip96, My beloved Red Devils will not scrimmage this Friday (today). I will be the first to admit it makes me very disappointed. I did not make the scrimmage at D-B this past Tuesday, but after reading some of the post on another thread, I called a few friends and they told me Halls actually looked better. Here is the recap - D-B scores 3 times on Halls #1 defense. Halls scores ! time on D-b #1 defense. Halls scores on int return (middle LB, must have played better than vs. Gibbs). D-b #2's did not score, Halls 2nd off. scored 1 time and their defense scored 1 time. Halls wil scrimmage JeffCo next Tuesday at 6, and Webb next Friday at 630. Maybe this young team just had a bad day vs. Gibbs, maybe they got better, maybe D-b is not very good. Don't know which is the case. Sounds like the Halls defensive players should be playing offense, if they returned 2 int's for TD's. The young Devils open the regular season at fairygut on Sat, Aug 23. Flip, if you find qbsdad at our scrimmages next week, bring him up in the bleachers, dying to meet him.

splainshornet, You are exactly right in your statement. But when you go back through the previous posts, you find where qbsdad, stated Stanton at Carter would be 1 of the 2 best QB's in the KFL this coming season. I know you know this but, QBSDAD = B.S. (and that don't stand for Bobby Stanton). Check out March 13, 2003, 2:44 pm, all of qbsdad's posts. Even tells in a later post about which camp he son attended last summer, this summer, next two summers.

qbsdad, My, my, my. You have all of the answers. 1) I played. 2) My children played, both got scholarships to college. 3) Hopefully, my grandchildren will play. I attended the scrimmage - not because my children were playing, but because Halls was playing. I'm Red Devil through and through, and I make no excuse about it. I just simply stated my displeasure at their performance on Friday am. Now, to get to you, my little fat hornet. I don't live in the past, I live in the present. I don't get on here and rant/rave about my son will be 1 of the 2 best QB's in the KFL this year. If you can't handle what I say, find you way to Halls and look me up - I'll be in the bleachers NEXT Tuesday evening (when we scrimmage Jeff Co.), 6:30 PM.

splainhornet, Seems like I ruffled your little stinger. Like you stated, reading and posting is a PRIVILEGE. But, it is also an opportunity, or a RIGHT to say what is on my mind. Just like your last post said, if you don't like what I say or post, DON'T READ IT. After all, this is just friendly bantering between consenting adults. After the way my red devils looked this past Friday, I wouldn't doubt the Carter Hornets kicking our butts again this fall. And this time Halls might be so far down the region play-off picture, the game will have no play-off implications. My only feeling was that any parent that posts on this board about his sonis suffering from an ego trip. Maybe even the deadly virus, LIVING HIS DREAM THROUGH HIS SON, BECAUSE HE WASN'T VERY GOOD OR NEVER PLAYED THE GAME HIMSELF.

jjwsiv - Thanks for clearing up the series totals for Gibbs - Halls. I thought they had played longer than 32 years. Sitting through that BS on Friday seemed like 32 years in one morning. AusDan, yes Gibbs has a running game. Or at least they had one Friday, but the better question would be, Does Halls have a defense? Got to go to church to pray for my Red Devils.

qbsdad, Sounds like you are tooting your own little horn. You must be the Stanton's kids dad. Don't look at things through rose colored glasses - every parent in the world thinks there kid does no wrong and should be playing in the nfl. One other thing, scrimage is spelled SCRIMMAGE.

red dog, You are obviously some one who is close to the Halls program, maybe even a coach because of your defensive statements, but answer this. Were you at the scrimmage? If so, did you not think the offensive blocking was awful? The defense looked absolutely pathetic. When something like this happens, I, as a parent, think things have to be looked at. 1) Coaching staff. 2) Offensive and defensive plays. Loyalty to the program - Shepard applied for the AP job and the defensive coordinator has applied for every head job that has come along. Are these two people stable enough or are they just trying to get out of Halls. Maybe a little of both, from the looks of Friday's scrimmage, they need to fire the entire lot of 'em and start over. What is there record over the past 4 years? If the schedule is so brutal, then who makes out there schedule? If my memory is right on the money, Gibbs has only beaten Halls 1 or 2 times in the schools history. They have been playing for the past 40 or so years.

red dog, halls looked awful. I don't think Gibbs tried but 1 pass in the first 45 minutes. I know they dropped back 1 time, but the Qb got tackled. Halls looked like they had never seen that offense before. I know that we had not played them in a couple of years, but the offense looked to me like the Halls offense from the past, option, traps, sweep. The defense looked sluggish all day long, no git up and go. I know Shepard is hard on them maybe he just worked them to hard this past week and the boys were wore out. BUT THAT IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE EXCUSE. I just could not believe what I saw. Yes they have talent in the younger classes. Maybe they were nervous or something, but I will tell you this. If they play like this past friday, d-b will kill them. Something needs to be done now with that coaching staff. I think they are only 500 over the past 4 seasons. Correct me if you know what there record is.

Attended the first scrimmage for my beloved Red Devils and came away with an outlook for the devils - they were terrible. Looked like they had never seen a game of football in their life. Gibbs took the ball and rammed it down our throats only trying to throw 4-5 passes all day. Halls has the most pathetic blocking on their offensive team I believe I have ever seen. But they are playing a lot of young players, at times as many as 9 sophomores and juniors. On defense, it was even worse. They never attacked the line of scrimmage, LB's were terrible, especially the middle, and the secondary looked sluggish. They have no chance against D-b (tues), Jeff Co (next Tues), Webb (next Fri). Prediction for this year 2-8. Worst at Halls in many, many years - go back to the Adams years (60-70's).
