  1. Trousdale County nor Friendship Christian would beat Page a 4a playoff team from a tough district. Eagleville lost to them and Signal Mountain probably would give Trousdale and Friendship a good game. The Eagles also played Forrest, Cascade, White House Heritage, all strong 2a teams and in the playoffs. From top to bottom the Eagles schedule was much tougher and the strength of schedule rankings illustrate that. Eagles in a close one. Hope the Monterey folks can come to the game. Should be a great crowd and night for a ball game. GO EAGLES
  2. I wasn't really wowed by Eagleville last week, a very simplistic offense. Not a lot to it and their defense very basic, I did not understand why they did not blitz more in passing situations. They do play very hard and disciplined. Contrary to what some believe, they played the much tougher schedule. Eagleville's schedule strength is ranked 14 and Monterey's is 38. Eagleville will win in a low scoring affair. This Eagleville team plays hard but not as good as the 2005 playoff team, that team had little more athletic talent. Go Eagles.
  3. Tom Kreager knows about as much as Murphy Fair does when it comes to 1a football. All they care about are the larger schools. Their will be a lot of schools in the playoffs with losing records and I do agree MTCS AND Eagleville have played a very tough schedule. Go Eagles. Oh Yeah it is good to see the former Eagleville coach doing well in his second year at Spring Hill, they are 7-2 and both loses to very good teams. They play Page in a big rivalry game this week.
  4. I believe he played wide receiver last year, he's a pretty good athlete. I don't know about his throwing skills
  5. Coach Flat is head coach of the Jr. High. So he is still in the program.
  6. That is just not true, not even in 1a ball. Most of the 1a championship teams have been rushing teams first.., very few exceptions. Look at the history. One reason that passing is not as effective in 1a ball is because of lack of depth and not as many good athletes at the skill positions. You can win championships passing 7 to 8 times a game and sometimes less. It is done almost every year.
  7. I know I'm old school but rushing the ball and playing defense is what wins HS championships. For instance last year in 5a Oakland rarely threw the ball and they came away with the gold ball. Eagleville last year was a good throwing team but lost a lot of close games because they did not play good D and could not rush the ball to close out close games. Look at the power houses in TN HS Football in the past, Alcoa, Smyrna, Riverdale, Trousdale County, David Lipscomb and so forth, Defense and rushing the ball rules. The last drive by Oaland last year against a throwing team in the championship game was amazing. 4 yards and a cloud of smoke, they took up almost the whole 4th quarter and beat a more talented Franklin team. In college and pro ball you must throw the ball but not neccessarily on HS ball. Everybody can believe what they want but history speaks for itself. In TN their has been many more good rushing and defense teams than high scoring passing offensive teams in the championship games.
  8. Not trying to be critical or anything but I saw your basketball team play several times this year and I only remember one player who had good quickness and speed and that was your point guard. I didn't observe anyone on the basketball team who I thought would be an outstanding receiver except for maybe the point guard. Your basketball team always played very tough and hard but they were not athletic and that is what you need at wide receiver.
  9. Any news about Eagleville. How did spring practice go? Were there any scrimmages?
  10. Eagleville has pretty much played all zone the last part of the year. I believe they are better too, but I guess coach is trying to keep us out of foul trouble. It has worked. We still do a lot of trapping but usually it has been always out of the zone.
  11. Should be a great game tonight. I think Eagleville will win a close one? Our defense has been awesome in recent weeks and I believe we can slow down the inside game of CA. In my opinion CA guards are a little suspect. The quickness of our guards I believe will give them some trouble. If we choose to stay in a zone we will have to work hard to keep CA off the offensive glass. That does worry me. Both teams need to keep out of foul trouble due to lack of depth. I believe a fast paced game will favor us, but that will not happen. Eagleville wins 49-44. Go Eagles.
  12. Never seen Collinwood or Summertown play but Forrest lost to Eagleville three times in double digits but that means very little. But Eagleville does return 2 starters and the 6th man from last years team that made it to the state tournament. I believe they could hang with either Summertown or Collinwood. I have to admit I was greatly surprised that Summertown upset Culleoka. They must have played very well. As I have stated many times Eagleville starters are pretty good and play well together but depth could be a problem if key players get into foul problems. CA like Eagleville does not have a lot of depth and depend pretty much on the twins to do most of the scoring. There other players are spot up shooters and can not create scoring opportunities. The twins against Cascade scored most of their points on offensive rebounds, a least in the second half the half that I saw.GO EAGLES
  13. Wasn't much of a game. Eagleville pretty much dominated even though we did not play well. We missed at least 5 or 6 layups in the first half. It should be a good game with CA, we might struggle with their size but I believe they will struggle with our quickness. We have played very good defense in the tournaments and have stayed out of foul trouble. I sure that is why we have played so much zone this year, not as much depth as last year. If we can keep CA brothers off the offensive glass I believe we can give them a good game. Their outside shooters are pretty much spot shooters thus I think we can handle them just as Cascade did. Cascade just could not keep the CA big guys off the glass. The CA/Cascade game was an exciting game. Good Luck Eagles Thursday nite.
  14. Eagleville made the state tournament last year and lost to Moore Co. in a close one after a unbelievable comeback. They have two starters back from that team plus a very quick guard who got a lot of playing time last year. They are a good team but not as good as last year. They do not have as much depth. They have a good inside game all though they are not that big. There best post player is about 6'1" (Jo Jo Wilson) and has very good hands and is able to score against much taller defenders. The other post player is about 6'6" Barrett Bingham a good rebounder and a good passer for a big man. We play a lot of high low post. Basically we play with three guards who all are very quick and like to push the ball up court. Two of them are very athletic. When we can hit the three that really opens up the inside game. Our leading scorer usually is either Jarett Wilson or Jo Jo Wilson. If we can keep the turnovers down, shoot the three well, get the ball to Jo Jo and stay out of foul trouble we can play with a lot of very good teams. I'm looking forward to seeing us play WH Heritage, it should be a great game. If we stay focused which can be a problem for us at times we should win by 10 or more, but you never know. Whats the info on WH Heritage.
  15. We have one guy over 6'1" and though he plays very hard he is not one of our better players. I have no ax to grind I'm sorry I hit a nerve. But when you struggle with turnovers, have a hard time handling pressure defense and do not shoot the ball well from outside that indicates a weakness and it is guard play. Our best inside player who is listed at 6'2" but he is not, he's shorter than his brother who plays guard because we play a 3 guard offense. Our leading scorer in the tournament was a guard, he was also MVP of the tournament. I believe the leading scorer for yall was one of you inside players not a guard, Good luck in the region and I hope I am wrong about our district being weak I'm just comparing the district to past years. I don't see any team in the district as good as last years Eagleville, Van Buren County or even Cascade teams. But last year was a strong year. Good Luck District 9.
  16. I thought the big football player looking guy came in and gave some good minutes for Forrest. Cascade really struggled with his bulk. Surprisingly agile for a big guy. Like I said Forrest always plays hard. Maybe they are just a year or two away. Good coaching is always important especially in the district and region but to get past that you have to have some talent to compete against the Culleoka's and the west TN teams.
  17. The fact is District 9 is really weak this year. I saw both games last night and none of the teams really impressed me including my Eagles. I do believe Eagleville has the most talent but at times they have a tendacy to lose their focus. Cascade is a one man team, you shut him down or he gets into foul trouble then they have a hard time scoring. Forrest probably has the least talent but plays the hardest. Community has a hard time playing against quick teams such as Eagleville. They lack at the guard position. Eagleville has three very good players if they play well and stay out of foul trouble they might make it to the substate, sectional, what ever you call that round. I don't think anybody in our district can handle Clarksville Academy but last year I did not think we would beat Culleoka neither. We had much more depth last year.
  18. Well, you got one right. I would have had the same picks also. I saw Community play Eagleville and I don't understand how they can beat Cascade twice. I guess they just have Cascades number like the Cascade has Eaglevilles number. You never know in HS Basketball. It did not surprise me that MTCS beat Forrest. It should be an interesting tournament.
  19. Haven't seen Cascade play. I saw Eagleville last night. We were pretty sloppy but won handily. We are learning to play together, we lost some good players to graduation. We do have some good athletes but not near as big as last year. Only one player with any size but we do have a lot of quickness probably more than last year. It should be a good game.
  20. Eagleville played very sloppy and won easily. Forrest plays hard but they just don't have a lot of talent. If they are a top 4 team our district then is very weak. Our district is definitely down from last year. Go Eagleville
  21. People don't realize that Eagleville also has a good rushing attack. They rushed close to 200 yds in the first game. The Eagles don"t have to have a great day passing to win but MTCS does have to have a great day rushing to win. Being that the game is at Eagleville it would be an upset but yes it could happen. But I see the Eagles winning this one in a close game.at least for a while.
  22. I think you sell both teams short (Cascade and Eagleville). Eagleville and Cascade skill position athletes are supperior to all the teams in our region with the exception of Jo Bryns and maybe Forrest. Jo Byrns will probably go undefeated. I hope I'm wrong. I believe both teams (Cascade and Eagleville)could withstand an injury at QB. The starting qb for Eagleville last year is now 2nd team but is a very good player. Once again I believe the key to Cascade and Eagleville is line play and for Eagleville also discipline and attitude. That has been a problem in the past with the exception of 2005. For some reason we have had some talented cocky players who have been a detriment to our team. Hopefully this year we will have a more disciplined team. I haven't been around them but I do hear good things. GO EAGLES
  23. Cascade will win easily if they do two things, stop the blitz and stop the run. McEwen has a tendacy to do the same thing over and over. They to do it well but there is not a lot of diversity in there offense or defense. Screen passes, delays and short passes to the backs have worked very well in the past. Cascade has the qb and the rbs to be able to do that. If Cascades D lineman have good games and are able to stop the rush they should win by 14. They definitely have the talent in the skill positions to win this game easily but alot time games are won in the trenches.
  24. The athleticism of Cascade will give them this win. Speed wins and they definitly have that. Cascade will win this one on big plays. McEwen has the tendacy to blitz on about every play and because of that they will give up the big play. Look for tds of over 40 yds. Good luck to both teams. Go Eagles
  25. Can you believe it? Goforthegoal is in agreement with Cascade 11. Cascade wins by 7, NCS win by 14, Jo Byrns in a blowout, Forrest wins in ot and Eagleville in a close one by 7.
