  1. Comp and others, Rebels '09 will be just fine, but some of these ideas about who will play where are a bit far fetched. Nothing is in stone, but some things also don't requre a consiracy theroy. I want to answer certain questions that were asked that I can answer... Yes, SW has played DB. He isn't a corner. Zanoni and Rowland will be the corners. SW started at safety all summer with KK during 7 on 7, and ran it some live last year. He'll be back there next year. As far as RB goes, Seth's last full season at RB (although it was 8th grade) he did go over 1000 yards and double digit TDs, but I seriously, seriously doubt he will be moved to RB. Coach talked about putting Seth in the backfield as a sophomore and throwing the little flat route to him, but it never developed. Fletcher really stepped up with that route this past season. Dang it, I will miss the Spin Doctor! Since the season ended and Seth's had time to really get really healed up and recoup, he's back up to 180 or so, but he doesn't have the build for RB anymore. The RBs will be Bobby, Wes, and Cassell. St. Clair will be QB, no doubt. Haden will work in KR and PR and will be QB2, as the athlete his is you would not want to keep him on the sidelines. He may see a little WR. St. Clair earned the right to playing time this year at ILB/DE and made the most of it. Great job Aaron. But, his D days are over. He'll be QB1 and that is not a slight on Haden, as he is an athlete and does have a good arm. Haden will fill the waiting role as Bradley did with so much character. Aaron is the field General. He always has been. I've seen it up close and believe me, very few people know how football smart St. Clair is. He has O vision like Ty and Clint have D vision. Ty will be our All-everything LB with Clint excelling as well. Clint may get some carries at RB/FB. Ty will not be carrying the rock, although he'll get a few more receptions from TE. These two are rocks inside. Caleb Anderson and Ethan Long will step up at DE/LB. JC Garvin will find the field, but its TBD where. Speculate all you want, but WRs will be Z-man, Seth, and Ellis, with Rowland coming in on the spread. Haden may see some WR time too. No St.Clair at WR as he can't throw it to himself. I also agree with you about Track, Comp. It really helps. I think Curt would tell you the same. SW has also given up basketball this year to focus on his goal of a 110M Hurdle Title and work for '09 football. When we visited WCU and Furman, the Track coaches there also empasized how they like to work with WRs. Helps everyone, especially the players. Columbo is another one it helped. Chuck seemed to pick up Two 10ths overnight. (Going to miss Chuck knocking the stuffing out of people). With Hilton coaching T&F now, I am hoping there will be a push there.
  2. I am going to AGAIN correct just the facts. This in no way takes away from what an excellent QB BD is and what a fine young man he is as well. We all know that. We all know that Seth is as well. 1. I don't fight Seth's battles for him. He is completly unaware of any of your comments and bashing and how he works thing out is up to him on the field. He knows nothing of any of this. 2. You guys do have very selective opinions when it suits you. Funny how some kids are fair game to criticize and others do take no responsibility. Funny how the three other players that dropped passes were never mentioned. Neither were the poor passes. Just realize you WERE picking on just him. And to make that obvious, I just pointing out the facts. 3. I know where Curt was last summer genious. I said the last two summers. The FACT is, Seth was on the SOUTH field two summers ago running routes with Curt before the official SSHS pre-seaon workouts started. Just him and Curt mostly. Phone calls were made, take that how you want. This summer he was throwing, again before the SSHS preseason started, with Haden and St. Clair. That's the facts, Jack. I never said BD didnt work. I'm sure he did as he got bigger, stonger and faster. We were all proud of him and excited for the team. 4. Anyone that knows Seth, knows that he works extremely hard and has a huge heart for his teammates and wants to be perfect. I wouldn't want a kid on my team that didn't get somewhat upset when he isnt perfect. Can't blame him for that. 5. I'd rather listen to the South football talk instead of hearing you uninformed people yak. I never meant to drag anyone into it. I just got tired of hearing ALL the responsibility being put on Seth. Back to the topic please, as I'm done. You want to discuss it further, I will be glad to discuss it.
  3. I did not Bash the team or the QB. I was asking this RebelRebel about his selective observation. To do so, I encompassed all the shortcomings from Friiday to prove a point. The boys know they let down and will work hard to do better. They dont need anyone to tell them. All I was doing was defending Seth and correcting the FACTS. He has not dropped many balls, he does seldom get thrown to and seldom looked at. He never, ever, gets on CoachT. These are the facts and not my opinion. Who are you trying to convince otherwise? RebelRebel was stating his opinion and sure he is free to do that, just as you are and I am. But I was not bashing BD and these were not opinions, they were the facts. BD has good throwing ability, I never said he didn't. I said most of the balls thrown his way have been thrown poorly. Buddy, they have. Go back and look at game films and see how many times he laid out for them or had to reacdh back. This doesnt mean that BD is any less of a player, just that most of the 20 some that went SW's way havent been the best. I also said over and over that to correct this brilliant poster, I basically had little choice but to correct the facts and hated it. NOW in my opinion RebelRebel is the one who shined the unfavorable light. Again, Seth doesnt read this crap on here and none of them should. Don't pin any of my short comings on him. Quite frankly, I'm sick of people blaming Seth for things that are mostly out of his control. Could he have caught those two he dropped... yep. Don't you think he knows that. You all want to get off it now and focus on the boy and Greeneville.... all of who we support!
  4. Well, your opinion is worthless and cowardly behind your little screen name. He doesnt read CoachT by the way. He NEVER has. NEVER. You choose to run your mouth on here about a 16 year old. Well, tell us who you are and who your perfect off-spring is buddy. You certainly did intend to put him down and as you do it, I am forced to defend him as you're facts are wrong. He has not dropped balls but very seldom. He had two last week, one midseason and the one at Science Hill. I again say one at Science Hill, because the second was really poorly thrown once you see the game film. Also, when you make statements like the following, what choice do I really have but to correct you. I hate to, as it reflects poorly on others, but I wont allow it. As far as getting "out there and" throwing" wtih bradley some more" goes, HE tried the past two summers. HE WAS THERE RUNNING ROUTES! HE was there throwing with St. Clair and Haden this off-season. THEY were willing to throw during the offseason. Also, the off-season before, HE and Curt went and threw probably 15 different times, just the two of them. A few times Fletch came and a few time Clint. Curt was still calling HIM when he came in from Wisconsin, because he knew SW would be there if at all possible. So you inadvertatly just launched a salvo at the wrong player (I didn't) which is unfortunate and not my intention. Don't blame the WR when the QB wont make the effort. Sorry, but you mentioned it and it is the truth. Comp will confirm it if you really need to know.
  5. O.k. I can't resist... that's funny Comp. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Should I ask around and find her some stripes and yellow hanky for this Friday night? Although, I'm not sure if she has quite enough arm to get that yellow flag to the field from that high up in the home section of Death Valley. I'm willing to let her try though. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  6. LOL! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> It's a little cool out for the popcicles right now! We'll have to wait until summer and fulfill that promise. I'll never live it down if we don't. Maybe we can get the Rebs to visit the CHAC kids some next year as well, as this one is wrapping up. All the little kids, not just mine, love it when they get attention from the Rebs. When the Rock Springs teachers let some of the kids visit Death Valley during school and homecoming festivities, they LOVED it! #2, #1, #10 and others went up and visited them in the stands giving high fives. It's these little things that build upon the tradition and program that has started with South Football. A little attention to the next generation goes a long ways. The future Rebs all know who the current Rebs are and look up to them. There's a bunch of little student-athletes looking forward to wearing the gray and columbia blue. Heck, #1's mini-me clone even has the first Curt Phillips autographed football. I often find it next to his pillow at night when I go up to double check on 'em. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  7. LOL! Of course Betsy didn't play Crockett. You typically want to scout those games and teams that you don't play, honey. Whoosh!...right over your head. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Whoosh! That's the sound of this going over your head twice. I'll spell it out for you and then go away: Would Elizabethton want to study the Greeneville/Crockett game film to learn about Greeneville, regardless of who the QB was/is for G'Ville? How much do you plan to learn from that game film, sweety pie? /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  8. TN High and South will win. Betsy has a great chance if they prvent TO's. North needs to play great.
  9. I'm not a Elizabethton homer, barb. So, am I reading this right... someone from Greene County is making fun of Carter County. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> Also, assume it safe to say "I" have NO "GAME TAPE", being neither from Carter nor Greene counties. I was just giving my outside opinion. By the way, I noticed you mentioned your team couldn't tell much from the Crockett film... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Please tell me your team didn't choose to scout this game and make this game film themselves. I do doubt it. Guessing the coaches did the gentlemenly thing and exchanged films. The Crockett game being sent to you was a brilliant move on their part and you don't even realize it. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  10. If Witten's boys can avoid the butterflies and avoid the TOs, I think they may surprise the Devils. They are better than their record shows, like MoWest is. Both E'Town and G'Ville are quality teams. I'll say 20-13 Cyclones.
  11. Mom, I try to avoid throwing in my 2 cents during the season... "try" being the key word there. But, ya know we've got 6 ourselves, 5 of which are boys. Youngest is also 4. So, I guess we'll all be spending our lives together at South. So, should ya be looking for someone to sit with.... By the way, tell Bobby his little buddy is scoring 2 or 3 tds a Saturday in at CHAC flag. Reminds me of somebody..hmm??? Maybe next year we can make some of the Rebs make an appearance at a Saturday game... maybe we should start in numerical order as well, huh? /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  12. It means a great deal to the Central an East players, especially the seniors. On that Friday night, on that field, it is the most important game on the planet to them. Give 'em a break. Don't start putting our county cousins down during their lean times. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  13. That might be more lopsided than the game on Friday. I am betting on the Ranger! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Let this thread die guys....
  14. To our friends in Paris, I can tell you first hand, Alcoa is for real. Not really sure how an undefeated Henry County thread got off onto 2A Alcoa, but whatever. I personally cannot comment about the DII schools, because they are not represented in our part of East Tennessee. But, I can certainly comment pretty confidently /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> , on the current schools at 1A,2A,4A, and 5A, statewide. Talking just the public schools, because that's what I know, Alcoa isn't at top 15 team, as some have said. They are top 6 or 7 in Tennessee. Honestly, 11 on 11, they are good. Maryville, well, we all know about them... So, I agree with the Professor above. Move onto the Henry County game. I'd say good luck to Henry County, but I honestly don't believe in luck. I think we make our own breaks, and then destiny kicks in. Hope you guys make it to the boro. Also, hope this is the year my Sullivan South Rebels climb over the Maryville hurdle (as Maryville is going up in '09). Rebel Nation
  15. North and South thread.... South will not overlook North. Coaches wont allow it. Quite frankly, I'd bet the Rebels are glad North is doing so well this year. Their character allows them to want nothing less than an undefeated Raider team with a healthy Throp. North has dropped one game and unfortunatly Throp broke his wrist. The Rebels will still show up. Ok. My two cents off the thread subject. Once the game with North goes down, please everyone dont be so quick to jump to the TN High game. Elizabethton is a tough team. If they stop the turnovers, they are very good. W/O the turnovers, they would have beaten Science Hill as well. May be the best team, in my humble opinion, that the Rebels have left in the regular season. Something to ponder... /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  16. As Sgt. Shultz would say "I know nutzing....nutzing." /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  17. This is true that Holston beat Colonial Heights in that game. It was a great game. Allot of Carl Roberts running the ball and a huge amount of Taylor Fletcher running the ball. I think it was the only game CHMS lost in about 3 or 4 years so the Eagles and their fans were pumped and deservidly so. I know the current CHMS Junior class went undefeated, winning the 1st Area 1 Championship the next year beating Harmon and Vance the next year. Great game as well. Anyway, I remember sitting in the stands and leaning over to the guy next to me and predicting the fake punt that the Holston coach called. That play iced the game. Nice coaching job there and the entire game. Would his coaching translate to the high school game, I dont know. He certainly outcoached CHMS on that day. Of course, this leads me to another possible cause that keeps of the Cougar program down. Can anyone remember how many kids were on those Holston teams (current Junior and then senior classes)? Then, how many were on the Blountville Middle teams those years? I bet there were 35 to 40 on each team, each year -----> 70 to 80 kids to feed into Central's freshman team the each following year....? Nope. If my memory serves me, the current junior class had 19 kids the next year under Coach Hooks reign. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> Whats up with that kind of drop in participation? Personally, if I was a Cougar booster, I think I'd wonder about the AD what is going on during the school transisiton. Oh, and by the way, that Holston over CHMS game, and the fake punt for a TD... was a pass to Patrick Albright who has focused on basketball at Central. Our family thinks allot of Patrick and he always speaks to us at the games and track meets, but I wonder how much influence the BBall coach had on this... Heck even the Great Buck Van Huss at DB allowed his basketball players to play football. Mr. Van Huss did make 'em work their way back into playing time, but he did let them play two sports. My two cents...
  18. Comp, there's really no way to comment without seeing it firsthand. I'd havent a clue anyway. We never did anything like that when I played. I'd say they all those fans, and fans in NET as well, would do themselves justice if they would send a little check to the boys in Hermitage and ask for a rule book and case book. Makes for great reading....hahaha By the way, have you guys been watching the Games of the Week on Charter. Love the extra camera angles and replays. If only the announcers could get names right and quit explaining what is happening on the field. They dont know Friday night rules from Saturday and Sunday. Doesn't sound like they ever laced 'em up either. I watched the Science Hill at Elizabethton game and laughed several times as the announcer described what was going on, on the field. Check it out Comp. By the way, without the turnovers, who was the better team that night in Elizabethton? As far as Boone goes... good group of boys. Jessee Collins is a great kid, getting a deserved chance at WR for the 'Blazers. As far as '09 goes... They'll be good again. St.Clair is a field General. This class has played alot and will be seasoned beyond their grade. Rebeltothecore, I'd love to see SW back in the backfield as well, but I think he's moved out to WR permanently. Bobby will tote the rock with Wes Williams. Clint will get some straight forward, fullback like carries. As far as younger kids go, Crowe will be there along with Ryan Headrick from CHMS.
  19. Actually, you and I may know the rule. I know skunk does. But, most do not. Trust me, most coaches dont even know the rule. Also, wouldnt say that I am an expert. Just looked the rule up a few years back. I have no idea what happened at J. Fred Friday. Just wondering what you guys actually had.
  20. Sure you can block below the knees. Contact the boys in Hermitage and get you a rule book. Please understand, I did not see this game, so I do not know if these blocks were legal cut blocks within the expanded neutral zone, or illiegal blocks below the knees outside of the zone, OR actual illiegal chop blocks. All of which are different animals. 9 out of 10 people dont know the difference. I can tell you that a RB blocking below the waist will always be illiegal, and a LB being blocked below the waist will always be illegal because they did not start the down on the line of scrimmage/in the expanded neutral zone. If the LB steps up to the line to blitz before the snap, he's then fair game for a cut block as well. A "chop block" is two players blocking one player, where the first hit is either high or low and the second player blocks low, with a delay between the two blocks. The key is the second hit is low, after a delay of the first hit. Is this what you had?...
  21. Hey Comp, Remember I told you before the season started, that the Spin Dr, Taylor Fletcher, barring injury, would have 1300 yards this season? How's that number looking? (Make me look like a genius TF, I need the help!) Some college is going to get a steal out of this kid. I want to also agree with you on another point, and it gives more credit to the Johnson County Longhorns. Elizabethton is a much better team than the record shows. I think the Toppers were not the better team the night they played in E-Town. Cyclones beat themselves. Saw that with my own two eyes. So since the 'Horns lost to the Cyclones, in a game the Horn fans say they should have won, I'd say the Rebels better not overlook Johnson Co tomorrow night. Comp and all, your take on the Rebs as they have progress through the season so far???
  22. Ok... that's funny. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
