  1. Thanks for your comment. Coach Morris is a class act all the way. His assistants are as well. Thanks to JCS for your sportsmanship and the way you as fans conducted yourself. We look forward to many more battles on the field together.
  2. This Friday night the "DAWG POUND" will be rocking with excitement in a Rematch of Week #7. Week #7 was a memorable game for Milan vs. JCS. JCS proved to West TN that they belong in 8-2A football. They have the weapons to go the distance and speed to make it happen. However, as someone else has already mentioned, Milan was "flat-footed" and not playing Milan football. In spite of this they squeezed out a big win against the Eagles. This time around I can guarantee you that Milan coaches have spent hours watching film and developing some new wrinkles, as well as, implementing the expected. In the win against Westview, Milan gave future opponents something else to worry about with Justin Coleman running the ball. Against Westview he moved the pile several times against a vaunted defensive line. Throw in passing to several receivers, Jobronski, J.W., and they will be hard to stop. I look for Milan to line up each possession and take it to the Eagles and wear them down. On defense Milan will cover the receivers for JCS and hope to make some big hits, as well as capitalize in the takeaway category. Look for the defensive line to pressure Matt Hudson as they did late in the game in week #7. Don't discount the coaches sending a linebacker on a blitz to make the q'back get out of the pocket. Hudson will have to make plays in order to stay in the game with Milan. Don't discount the speed of both teams in this one. I Milan believe comes away with the victory and further respect for a talented 2-A opponent. Milan - 31 JCS - 17 Better get to Johnnie Hale Stadium early for a packed house. Can't wait for game time at 7:00 p.m. GO DAWGS![/size]
  3. What a scenario, the Dogs vs. the Chargers. How many years has it come down to this in 2A for the region title? Westview is certainly loaded with many weapons and they are big across the line. Milan comes in with speed to burn and a team that is peaking at the right time. Sounds like a good ole' West TN battle for the region title, homefield advantage, leg-up position for either of these teams. Don Coady will have Westview ready for the Dogs. Jeff Morris will have the Dogs motiviated and realizing what is on the line. I have to go with my Dawgs in a close one. Milan 21 - Westview 17
  4. Obviously, from the amount of time this person has been with Coach T and the number of posts, they are new to this. Not sure what is going on, but this person has "issues" with the way that Milan is playing. The Milan Quarterback Club has a slogan, "The Coaches do the coaching, the players do the playing, and the rest of us do the supporting." This topic was begun by me to support the Senior Night coming up on Friday. If you have issues then maybe you need to share those somewhere else. I fully support the coaching staff, players, and managers. Milan has come along way this year and I believe have improved each week. They should be peaking at the right time, just in time for the playoffs. You can't argue with the number of region titles, playoff appearances, and state championships on the resume. GO Dawgs!
  5. Could it be a blowout? Hopefully, Milan will not overlook the Lions and concentrate on Westview in Week 10. Go Dawgs!
  6. Week #9 will be Senior Night for the Bulldog faithful at Johnnie Hale Stadium. The Dawgs will be hosting the Dresden Lions in a Region 8 matchup. For the Seniors it will be the last regular season game on home turf. Sure to be an emotional night for them, their parents, and families. For the game, Dresden comes in at the bottom of the Region and Milan is tied with Westview for the top spot. But, don't count out the Lions from playing hard. With Junior Quarterback Justin Coleman transfering from Dresden to Milan after last season, the Lions have some incentive. In the end I believe that the Dogs will rule and alot of 2nd string players will see action. I look to see Milan get its offense in gear with this one and put away Dresden early on. Milan 45 - Dresden 7. GO DAWGS!
  7. On another thread someone mentioned about the center for Peabody. Since they use the shotgun almost exclusively, pressure is the key for the center and for the quarterback. In the Jamboree the exchange looked questionable and it seems that it has been throughout the season. I believe Milan will bring pressure and hopefully disrupt their timing. Go Dawgs!
  8. Here's looking for a great cross-county rivalry between the Bulldogs and the Golden Tide. Peabody showcases one of the best athletes, if not the best, in West TN. Kendall Harper is the real deal when is comes to football. The Bulldogs saw him last year once during the season and once in the playoffs. He is a real gamebreaker at Quarterback. Milan counters with a defense that is starting to hit it's stride with 2 big wins over USJ, and a very talented JCS team. The defense kept us in the game with JCS until we could score late. Against the Golden Tide they will have their hands full, but I believe they are up to the challenge. Everyone knows about Milan's running game and after Friday night future opponents know about our ability to pass. It keeps the safeties and corners from creeping into "the box." I believe that Milan will come out with a big win at Trenton. My prediction, Milan 35 - Trenton 21. Go Dawgs!
  9. Congrats to JCS on a big win against Humboldt in which no offensive touchdowns were scored. JCS is well coached and will come into Milan this week to face the Bulldogs. Milan is starting to get it's rhythm which is bad news for the rest of the opponents. If my numbers are right Milan used at least 6 tailbacks against USJ on Thurs. night. Two of them were Sophmores and one of them was the leading rusher. Another week of practice in the passing game and Milan could be dangerous in the games ahead. Looking for a good game from a state championship team who gives Milan alot to practice for this week. In the end I believe that Milan's physical game will eventually wear down the front of JCS, but, it should be a close game. GO DAWGS!
  10. Booker T. comes in with a loss at Alcoa and Milan comes in with three straight wins, Gibson Co., Camden, and Humboldt. Look for a great crowd at Johnnie Hale Stadium and alot of "Who let the dogs out", as well as, "Move those chains." The Bulldogs are starting to hit their stride and are playing much stouter on defense and we should see the offense continue to improve. Here's hoping for another Bulldog win as we head into the "thick" of our region schedule for the remainder of the season. Looking for a great "Homecoming" crowd and alot of Bulldog faithful to cheer on the "Dawgs."
  11. Should be a real hard hitting affair. Camden is a tough, well coached team, as well as Westview. Sounds as though Westview is starting to pick up their play with a huge win over Region opponent, Trenton. They capitalized on turnovers and made Peabody pay for them. Camden comes in with a solid offense and a stout defense. If it wasn't for Homecoming at Milan, I would love to see this one.
  12. Hopefully back by the USJ game in 2 two weeks.
  13. Should be a great game for the Bulldogs. They are coming off a quality win and starting to hit their stride. I say the Dawgs by 14.
  14. Week 2 finds the Bulldogs looking for a win against Gibson County. This is a great way for the Bulldogs to pump up their spirits and move on with their season. Coach Jeff Morris and his great team of coaches will have this team ready to play and will come out with passion and purple pride before the best fans in West TN. By the way, the City, School, and the Quarterback Club have made some improvements to the field this year. We now have 24 second clocks in the end zones, new stencils for the hashes and numbers. Also, the word "Milan" will be lettered in both end zones, as well as the Bulldog "M" with the bulldog coming through it in the middle of the field. Put all this together and it should be a great night for the Bulldogs. Looking forward to the all of this and a big win for the "Dawgs."
  15. Schedule is now complete. Milan plays Booker T. Washington in week #5. Don't see any real "soft" teams in this schedule.
  16. Don't know alot about the Middle and East TN schools. Heard the names and some are repeats in the state playoffs. 5A - don't know 4A - Henry Co. 3A - Dyersburg 2A - Milan 1A - JCS It's a West TN thing. Here's one bulldog fan pulling for a clean sweep for the West TN schools.
  17. These posts show alot of class from competing schools. Wishing the best for JCS, Dyersburg, Henry Co., and Milan. Would be nice for all three to complete a clean sweep of the 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A championships. We will be rooting for you this Friday night for the opportunity to play for "all the marbles." GO DAWGS!
  18. My vote goes to Jeff Morris from Milan. Great motivator, teacher, and man. By the way, Coach Counce from Dyersburg is one of the guys who mentored Coach Morris at Henry Co. H. S.
  19. Congratulations to a gutty Humboldt Vikings team. Adrian Donald is the real deal when it comes to running backs. For the DAWGS! After the last two weeks we could rename them the "Kardiac Kids." I like the never give up attitude. Friday, Nov. 24th, Goodpasture comes to Johnnie Hale Stadium for the chance to play one more week. I have heard that Goodpasture is loaded and makes very few mistakes. According to Bobby Sharpe from Lewis County, they are an excellent team. Both teams are now back in familiar territory in the semi-final game. Historically, Milan has been in many of these games and gone on to win 4 state champion titles, two under John Tucker and two under current Head Coach, Jeff Morris. Goodpasture is playing their best and has steam-rolled through the playoffs, with the exception of this past Friday night. Look for a great game and two of the best 2A teams in the state. Whoever wins will face an outstanding team for the east, probably, Alcoa. Come early for a good seat at Johnnie Hale. Can't wait until next Friday at 7:00 p.m. Quick Question? Anyone heard on the status of Jake Anderson?
  20. Coach Jeff Morris was interviewed live on 97.7 FM this morning. In the interview he stated that Milan HAS NOT RECEIVED A RULING from the TSSAA. A ruling is expected hopefully some time this week. I applaud Coach Morris and his staff for being men of character, integrity, and honesty. Thanks Coach Morris for the way that you have handled this entire situation. Thanks to Kris Todd for being thorough and above board. To the player in question and family, we at Milan are behind you and will stand with you through this time. BADDAWG.
  21. Thanks for getting back to the topic of this thread. When Milan and Huntingdon meet you can throw out all of the records and know that this will be a game to watch for 2A supremacy in West TN. Grant it that Huntingdon has not played up to the level of expectations of everyone. Going to be an exciting week and can't wait for next Friday. If Milan plays like they did against Humboldt, Milan wins 35-14. As for the discussion about the "alleged illegal player" Milan has had for the first part of the season, let the real facts come out. I am surprised by those in the media in their "rush to report" have stepped out on the limb with "100%" certainty. Maybe someone will saw that limb off. Where has character and integrity gone these days. Thanks to 97.7, Grace Broadcasting, Robin Coud, West TN Sports Show, and Steve Hemann for their stance last night. If you missed that interview around 10:30 or 10:40 you missed the real facts. There has been no ruling and the ruling will take place this next week. (Period) That is from the mouth of Coach Morris the head coach and Kris Todd the principal. Let's get back to reporting the facts, not hearsay. Let the kid's play ball and let's watch West TN football, which by the way, is the best. Baddawg!
  22. Well said. These three year in and year out put quality teams on the field. Kind of partial to P.A. because he grew up in Milan and played under the legendary John Tucker. Any of these three would be first among 3A schools statewide. Baddawg.
  23. Head Coach Jeff Morris of the Milan Bulldogs. One of the winningnest active H.S football coaches, if not the top, in the state. Has two state championships, 2A in 1998 and 3A in 1999. Year in and year out has quality teams that take the field. Knowing Coach Morris, he always defers to his assistants who in my opinion are the best group of coaches in any classification. Baddawg.
  24. One of the winningest active football coaches in the entire state who is in his 11th year. Throw in 2 State Championships, 2A - 1998 and 3A in 1999, Several region championships, and to top it all off, sits right in the middle of the toughest 2A region in the state. Coach Morris has probably the strongest group of Asst. Coaches around with Tim Jackson, Todd Holden, Todd Greene, Paul Acuff, Teddy Pettigrew, and Two volunteer coaches. He will tell you that the key to Milan's success year in and year out is the work ethic of his assistants. My vote clearly goes to Jeff Morris.
  25. Always an interesting week when we play Humboldt. Barker Memorial Stadium will be beyond capacity Sept. 29. Rivalry predates even Poteete vs. Tucker days. Two towns separated by less than 2 miles, same region, for the region lead, home field advantage, bragging rights, etc. but, alot of respect between the two teams. Adrian Donald is the real deal at running back. I remember seeing him as a freshman and he was elusive and quick. From what I've heard he's even more so now that he is a senior. Hopefully, we can keep him from reaching 100 yards for the game. This will be a close game as the two teams will mix it up with the run and the pass. The team who executes on special teams will probably win this one. Can't wait for Friday night. Milan - 31 Humboldt - 27
