  1. I remember hearing about that incident (Simmons in '99). The people I know in attendance said that they were fairly certain the kid was dead after the shot...let's get 'em tonight! ps, Dan, are you the Dan involved in a certain big game in the sunshine state tomorrow? if so good luck...
  2. nice work, WesVols...good site... very interesting reading on the Cal Preps site...I can see a day in the future when teams (like Evangel this year, who is playing I think 5-6 games against non-LA teams) are scheduling like college teams....
  3. can any CBHS fan give us a recap of your season to date? Looks nasty already with w's over BA and Germantown... edit: just looked at it on unapproved website.com. Yikes...this should be a heck of a ballgame...

Anyways, I can remember that the first "date" of my life was to the Spagetti Supper and Homecoming game 7th grade...good memories all around...glad the event remains as good as ever... not getting carried away by any means...been a great first half of the season though...glad that BA has been moved to the end of the season...I'll be on pins and needles waiting for someone to get back from Memphis at post the score next Friday...any of you guys going?

    MBA SCORE?

I don't want to get carried away just yet, but this is starting to shape up as a regular season for the ages...I guess we still have the meat of the super 7 schedule in front of us...but yikes! what a first half of the season we've completed! thanks for the update, RRR.. Go Big Red!
  6. cool article in today's City Paper...ahh, homecoming...blazers and bad spagetti abound...a great weekend indeed... http://www.nashvillecitypaper.com/index.cf...s&news_id=27137
  7. thanks, RRR...man, wives...they just don't get it? How can they not appreciate football data from the last 100 years? sheesh....I'll take MBA 20, McC 16...
  8. need to bump this up there...all right, rollredroll, what is the series history for MBA-McCallie? And what does the Blue Tornado have for us this year?
  9. thanks to you, KPTVol...best wishes, GO Big Red, Go D-B, and go big orange!
  10. GBR: thanks for the recap.....getting fired up for BA in a few weeks...
  11. fellas, anybody got a take on this one? Domination?
  12. RRR: yeah, I can imagine there's some good stuff in there...
  13. good find, RRR; can't be many older than that. edit: Semper Fi: doubt it. The play-offs have only been around since...'78(??). I know Ryan beat them in the clinic bowl in '97, but playing together in 11-AAA for most of the play-off era means that they wouldn't have met up in the play-offs until the change to the super 7.
  14. I can't find any definitive data on MBA-Ryan; neither web site really answers the question. I know we've been playing football for 104 years and Ryan, according to their web site, 78...so I'd guess somehere around 70 meetings...
  15. no more "Evil Empire of Elliston Place." Used to be THE game. Some sweet ones at Dudley field (and some not so sweet ones). Will never forget 41-0 in 1991. I just wish I had been on hand for Ricky's running up the score in '99 when all those Ryan players were ejected.. It's like the SEC and the split. If you're a UT fan, Florida (BA) has dwarfed Alabama (Ryan), especially as the latter took a nosedive recently. Will never fail to enjoy a win over the Irish, though... edit: that was 1992 when Regen made the guys paint the cannons back to black in front of everyone....DR really kept the torment to a minimum tough; he wouldn't let everyone camp out around them and give them grief...I just remember them on the cover of the Bell Ringer under the Headline: "Good will always defeat Evil becase Evil is Dumb." That stuff was in good humor (akin to stealing mascots, etc.) I understand they took it too far last year...
  16. I gotta comment on MBA-BA: it is, right now, among the biggest rivalries in the state. The game has only been played, however, 10 times (I think): BA wins: '95, '96, '02 MBA wins: '97, '98, '99, '00, '01 (twice), '02 (CB) MBA-Father Ryan is the traditional rival which must rank among Nashville's oldest. It used to be a sweet game...best recent match-ups: '92 for 11-AAA title; '97 in Clinic Bowl. Lots of tradition (painting the cannons, etc.). High School football at its finest.... if we're UT, BA is our Florida but Ryan is and always will be our Bama... I'd say: Sumner County: Gallatin-Hendersonville Rutheford Co.: Oakland-Riverdale
  17. 500 yards of offense...yikes! who do we play next week?
  18. well, MBA's new cardinal stockings make the unis perfect. Best in state, by far...but, i've never been a huge fan of our helmets...would prefer the MBA "waffle" to the Mississippi St. looking "MBA." however, I will always, always love the old FRA helmets with the rebel flag, back when they were the FRA rebels...a cooler version of Ole Miss' unis. But, not politically correct and (rightly) discarded...
  19. well done, my man...the most thankless job in sports: long snapper....Roll Red Roll!!!!
  20. why yes I am...I'm in a technology seminar right now...spending my time wisely...who are you, Big Red Bud?
  21. I'll be honest, I don't think that's really the Trinity fans' fault. If anything, it's MBA's fault for not policing the parking lot better and setting up guidelines (at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, this is public nuisance #1, and, as far as I can tell, the primary function of police in the parking lot)....I wasn 't there (live out of state) but heard from my dad that Trinity travelled extremely well...as in SEC extremely well...MBA was well prepared for the crowds and may have even scared some fans away with tales of "get there 4 hours before kick-off." Maybe a little alarmist, but it sounds like it was a well-run event with few if any glitches... as for KY vs. TN HS football superiority, there's no way to know...the fun lies in the fact that some teams, like MBA, Trinity, BA, Paducah-Tillman, Warren Central, etc. are willing to take a chance and play some exciting out-of-state football and give the argument some life...just like us with Bolles a few years ago, Trinity had no reason to play this game (a threat to their USA Today ranking) but did anyways in pursuit of the best competition...props to Trinity and MBA for playing these games! Brohm, in every report I've read, has been a gracious and classy loser...best of luck to him and Trinity the rest of the season!!
