  1. in my area, ill say soddy at rhea co. should be a traditional hard hitting emotional game.
  2. Hard to argue against Scott Parrot QB out of Soddy. His completion % is quite staggering thru 2 games. The performance he put on at william blount was amazing. Throw on the run sit in the pocket, he can do it all with outstanding touch on the deep ball

lol just bustin your chops. Summer ball is finally here. Alisha has ben pitching well the last month and just didn't have near her best stuff this whole week.

    Soddy is out

sdsoftball12, such as maybe you are in that fan category, seems every post you've had as of late seems to wanna dog other teams and start some feuding. The true sd fan shall not bash another team for not having as much talent as sd. In closing the only fan being classless is you my friend! I say good luck to all teams left, i give the slight edge to ooltewah but its a toss up from here on out!
  5. here's some truth. Soddy won one tourney last year, also they lost 5 games in a row at beech play day. the year before that they didn't win a tourney. But i beleive they did one the tournament that counted the most! side note: the last four year noone picked soddy to make it to the state champ game. Will they make it this year?? eh maybe if they get lucky, we lost at least 8 1-0 ball games where we had runners on 2 and 3 with less that two outs, so anything could happen.clarification: runners on 2 and 3 more than once in the ball game
  6. the girls take nothing for granted, they know that it is one game at a time and next is Lawrence County........someone has read the morning paper.
  7. i wasn't referring to coffee winning as an upset. If you make it to sectionals you played your way there and deserve it. There is no doubt they arent a fluke. my apologies for that misunderstanding
  8. The road to state always rolls through chattanooga the district soddy is in is tough but soddy plays every high powered team in chattanooga(which there is one on every corner), so the level of competition isn't as great in the mid state besides your obvious teams. Go and take a look at the mid states track record against chatt teams in AAA its not so good. If soddy is to win tomorrow then there could possibly be another state title game with two teams from the same district( soddy and ooltewah). Soddy has been 6 of the last 8 championship games i beleive including 4 in a row. i just don't think anyone plays the quality competition that soddy or ooltewah plays on a year after yea basis and it shows.
  9. another thing, home field in softball is about as good as home field in college basketball. There's not a whole lot of emphasis on it and i really don't think the girls care, there are hardly ever any true upsets in softball. 95% of the time the best team is gonna win, no matter where the game is played.
  10. i would take condra's word for it, hes an orange wearing sports genius
  11. Lets think about this for a minute, soddy plays in the toughest region and district in the state, noone likes them and if a team doesn't get much fan support, well theyll all come out of the wood works when they play soddy. Everywhere they go its a hostle environment. Playing in big games year after year its just not an issue with them. The pitcher for sure isn't gonna get rattled, if anything she might just laugh it off. Thats the kind of personality she has. This is a team that loves to play and have fun, they play for big games and crowds like this.
  12. Soddy is very very young. Clifford seems to have a "knack" for getting his girls ready to go to the state tournament. The girls are swinging the bat and hitting the ball the best they have all year, they just cant get any luck. A bad bad strike here and there a a line drive off the pitchers leg that goes right to the first baseman for out 3. You name it its happened over the last 3 weeks, especially against ooltewah, in games that have been decided by fluke plays bad officiating(for both sides) and errors. Soddy HAS TO MOVE RUNNERS. they can not continue to have runners on with no outs and not be able to put a bunt down or at least chop something in the dirt. Alisha is on her a game defense has to step up and not take any plays off. Im hoping for a good game and hpoefully, the field will be dried up and ready to go.
  13. Any thoughts on this one? We usually play coffee one a year in mid season tournements but havent seen them this year. Its a sectional game im sure it will be tough for both sides.
  14. ooltewah won this game 2-1 on a sac fly in the botton of the 11th. girl playing right feild caguht a fly ball that was foul with the bases loaded. She made a heck of a catch, tho she should have never attemtped to catch it, she had a brain fart i guess you could say and held the ball and didn't think about the girl on third tagging up.
  15. All of your opinions and remarks are correct no doubt, maybe i came off the wrong way. By judgement an umpire is taking into consideration of many different variables. Why the nikki waters thing was never called, i have no idea. i have often wondered the same thing. For 4 years i figured that state umpires would hammer her over it. im not them so i don't know. The fact does remain though that i would say 95% of pitchers in high school are illegal in some way, so it becomes judgement whether or not to call it. For instance if howard and tyner were playing, would you call illegal pitch everytime b/c every pitch is illegal ON BOTH TEAMS??? There are so many things that are looked at. I love the game, thats why i umpire, youll find most guys do it for the extra money. The high quality teams i think should be judged more harshly than any other teams. its a sad reality but thats just the way it is and its probably never gonna change.
  16. i am a tssaa official in chattanooga. I know for a fact, at least here, that rules are stictly enforced. If the teams around here see that you are repeatedly not making a call they will not hesitate to contact the the area UIC to get the problem solved. In our monthly meetings it is highly stressed to enforce all rules no matter what the circumstances. That is here in chatt. so i cant speak for other areas. We are also human and people make mistakes and it takes years and years to learn all of the rules and their interpretations. Maybe, the parents in the stands should do the training classes from now on??? Another bit of useful information is to never compare high school ball to summer ball, rules are so much different. The crow hop thing about having to be an advantage is correct. If a pitcher is crow hopping and striking out batters, then i would call it but if she is doing it and walking batter after batter then whats the point?? which is why it does say in the asa rules that it must be an advantage to the pitcher. The reason is b/c, the crow hop is not taught anymore b/c it has been made illegal. So, if you do come across a pitcher who is TRULY crow hopping shell be throwing the ball all over the place. Most parents view of crow hopping is very very far from actual crow hopping. In order to do it, it takes lots and lots of practice. i have never seen a girl ever come close to crow hopping. bad mechanics? yes crow hopping? no
  17. stupid thread, maybe coach t will open a REC league message board
  18. soddy did well alisha pitched well all weekend, lost to Mason OH 1-0 in pool play and lost to beech in opening game of bracket play 1-0. soddy just couldn't string 2 or three hits together, but i see that changing soon b/ clifford was really worried about his defense coming into the season and the defense seems to be clicking on all cylinders now. So in classic clifford form im sure he will focus on hitting now that we are into the later stages of the season. This week we play baylor and ooltewah so shuold be a tough week. ooltewah is dedicating their new field thursday for the soddy game, i don't know if i would dedicate my field on a game that i could lose. maybe its something to get the ooltewah girls more focused for the game who knows. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  19. love2coach, let me touch on a few things about your post. First, i would suggest not commenting on a subject you seem to know absolutely nothing about, its very apparent you don't. If you did, you would know that one, ooltewah the past oh 6 or 7 times they have played each other that ooltewah has either been in the lead at the end of the game and lost in the last inning, or has just lost by a run or two on some very suspect coaching. as for the chemistry thing(which is the most ignorant remark of the post) oolewah is a senior ladin team, if they don't have chemistry i beleive something is wrong and you could always point that back to coaching if you so choose. In my opinion having seen the owls and trojans play against each other the past 5 years, i would say that the players did exactly what their coach told them to do or not do and they have all resulted in a loss. who knows maybe coach gets the "heebee geebees" when it comes to playing soddy. in her quote in the times free press she said "playing soddy is always a mental thing" perhaps she was speaking mainly of herself b/c her teams never seem to be FLAT as she says. I think she plays soddy not to lose rather than win.
  20. that neice would be brandi lasley who had the two rbi against the owls.
  21. well said terri, as this has been the case the last couple of years especially in last years regional final and even perhaps in the owl invitational. Many many questionable coaching decisions have plagued the owls against soddy.
  22. SODDY BEAT OOLTEWAH 2-1 IN A THRILLING GAME. GUESS SODDY STILL HAS IT WHEN IT COUNTS.
  23. wow, what a game!!! very intense and nerve racking
