  1. Can't argue with Jody Wright....never heard of David Scott. You can say what you want about Aaron Green but his track record and success as a player and coach speak for itself. He is a proven winner and quality person!!!
  2. That's why I asked about Aaron to begin with. From what I have heard about McDaniel, there are some similarities. I do know Aaron a little bit. As far as his interest in middle tennessee, I think he interviewed for the Blackman job when the school was opening. That was when he was just getting started in coaching. He got the Cleveland job instead and had a lot of success. His wife graduated from Vanderbilt and their 2nd child is due this spring. He may want a more stable lifestyle for his family instead of the travel involved in college. I would think Oakland would be an elite job, but I guess that's open to discussion. If it's not, I would think it would certainly be more attractive than any of the openings this year. I don't think the jobs at CAK, Coffee Co., Warren Co., or Independence are even close. I really don't know Aaron well enough to speak on his behalf. I have just heard that he may be interested, and I was just wondering if anyone in middle tennessee had any thoughts.
  3. Anyone hearing who CAK is looking at for their new coach or who has applied for the job?
  4. There is nothing in Aaron Green's background that would suggest that he's looking to jump from job to job. He was at Cleveland for 7 years (his entire h.s. coaching career), then he went to Tennessee (where he played) as a graduate assistant. G.A.'s are only there for 2 years, then their time is up. Aaron just completed his 2nd year. Maybe he is more comfortable in high school. Leaving high school to go to the University of Tennessee is a pretty good career move. In fact I bet he is the only serious candidate for the Oakland job who has coached his entire career at one high school.
  5. I hear Aaron Green may be interested. For those of you who don't know, he won a state championship as a player at Sweetwater H.S., played at Tennessee, coached for about 7 years at Cleveland (2 substates and 1 state tournament appearance and I think, 20 wins every year) and has been back at Tennessee as a graduate assistant for the last 2 years under Coach Pearl.
  6. I would agree that the talent that McMinn Central has year in and year out is due to their youth programs, aau, and their commitment to basketball at an early age. However, these reasons should also contribute to more success at the state tournament. To get better you have to play better competition on a regular basis. Once these girls get to high school they are not consistently exposed to great competition (in the regular season) that will allow them to improve at a level to be successful in Murfreesboro. It is not obvious to me that morgan teaches fundamentals....being talented and fundamentally sound should equal to a state championship. Reminder: The thread is "Why does Central always lay an egg in Murfreesboro". I feel the reasons I posted yesterday are accurate in why they are not successful. If I'm not mistaken.... Jill Pruden does have a state championship at the AAA level???? Whats your point?????
  7. I ask the same question before the state tournament, and was attacked by the loyal central fans. I hate to say it....BUT I WAS RIGHT! Morgan has been blessed with a lot of talent over the years (enough to win at least one state championship), but can never beat the good teams at the state tournament. In my opinion, here are some reasons why: 1. He does not play a tough schedule that would prepare his team for the state tournament. For example, the Lenoir City Christmas Tournament is not going to prepare his team for post season. 2. He cannont man to man press every team at the state tournament. They blow out these teams locally with ball pressure and forcing turnovers, but when they get to the state tournament that gambling out of control defense allows for lay ups, fouls, open 3's, and offensive rebounds against the good teams. 3. Offensively, they can get away with going 1 on 1 against the teams on their schedule, but the good teams at the state tournamnent can guard. Run an offense that will make the good teams have to guard, and not a one pass and jack it up offense. 4. He does not adjust to the other teams strengths and weaknesses. For example, good scouting will tell you not to guard players on the other team that can't shoot (play in the paint) or pressure players that can shoot but can't put it on the floor. Central plays one way and one way only.
  8. Old Warhorse, Good question... here is who I think has a better chance of winning it than Central. South Greene (28-4)- 2 losses came to AAA power Morristown West, 1 loss to AAA Wilson Central) They also beat Morristown West once which was their only loss of the year) Upperman (31-1)- Not only a great record but they play a tough schedule as well (Several wins over tough AAA teams). Westview (29-4)- 3 losses came to Gibson County. Gibson County (30-0)- Undefeated with a descent schedule Also, I feel the best team to come out of Memphis could beat central as well because they will be able to match up athletically!
  9. Shouldn't you be working on an end of the season workout program to maintain strength and conditioning for the end of the season instead of wasting your time on this board? I'm officially out of here....I am not going to lower myself to same level as all of you arrogant, cocky central fans. I admire your loyalty but laugh at your ignorance. If you consider yourself a coach, you shouldn't be worried about whats being said on a message board, and concentrate on the responsibility you have to your team. Best of luck! OVER AND OUT!
  10. We finally get a central fan that is mature enough to make good solid points without the name calling. Good post OldSchoolCharger, but I'm hesitant to agree with you on several of them. I know basketball as well and also have seen first hand what it takes to win the state. This team might have the pieces this year, but I feel the way they play defensively and offensively will not get it down at the state tournament. I am not a hater on anyone, thats just how I feel.
  11. "make a fol out of yourself"..... thats funny considering you can't spell fool. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  12. Yes, I will be there! What does that have to do with anything?
  13. Well since you brought it up.....Yes, jewell at Meigs took several talented teams to the state tournament, and if I'm not mistaken they have a couple of state championship trophies in their trophy case to show for it. I also think Coach Davis at Polk has a state championship under his belt as well (1981 maybe?). Sweetwater had a couple of girls teams in the mid 80's that made it to the state tournament. Anything else you want to Know? Yes, Morgan has won a lot of games, but they have won in this area because they have more talent than everyone else. And yes, Meigs in the 90's out talented teams in this area but also beat great teams at the state tournament and brought home the gold ball....there is a difference. Again, the thread is about whether or not the chargerettes can win the state.... and the answer in my opinion is no and I've given my reasons why. Why don't you people stop getting mad and give me some good reasons for why you think I am wrong!!!!!!!
  14. No, I do not consider under achieving as being successful! I also do not consider playing teams close at the state tournament as being successful if you've had the talent to win it. I do not consider fortune to be the reason Livingston, Jackson County, Shelbyville, Oak Ridge, etc to be the reason they have won multiple state championships. So are you saying that McMinn Central has not won a state championship because of bad calls and/or bad bounces? Again, the thread was started by someone asking can Central win it all? I've given my opinion, and my reasons why. I have never said that Coach Morgan was not a good coach! Lets see if my opinion is wrong or right come state tournament time.
  15. I don't consider Polk County a state tournament team! The thread was started with a question....can mcminn central win it all? In my opinion, the answer is no and I've given my reasons why! You central fans crack me up!
  16. Didn't say I was the personell director for McMinn Central High School. Didn't realize the school had a position of strength coach? Are you employed by the school system? Give me some details of your responsibilities of the team? How many days of the week do the girls workout?
  17. I respectfully disagree: 1) They've had several teams in the past that had good leadership & play well together 2) Strength program? I am very close to the program and have never known them to strength train 3) They have been 8-10 deep in the past....depth at the state tournament is over-rated anyway 4) Post presence- Julie Alderhold was an inside out player but did post up alot and her team didn't win it 5) They've had plenty of experience at the guard position in the past 6) I REALLY DISAGREE WITH THIS ONE & FEEL STRONGLY THAT THIS IS THE ONE OF THE REASON THE ARE NOT SUCCESSFUL AT THE STATE TOURNAMENT! They can pressure full court, man to man, in your face, borderline nasty DEFENSE, every night.....against the teams they play during the regular season, but that gambling out of control style gives up lay-ups, fouls, open 3's, middle penetration, etc against the GOOD TEAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some of the better teams at the State Tournament play well against that style.
  18. loyalcharger, "Idiot" "Write something stupid" Wow, I didn't realize that giving my opinion on why I think McMinn Central will not will the state championship makes me an idiot. Maybe I should think the same about you for thinking they will win it? I realize you are a "loyalcharger" but lets think clearly here. Let me say it again "McMinn Central has had several teams over the years that were talented enough to win a AA state championship, but the fact of the matter is they have not won one yet" Why should I think this year will be any different? If you can give me some concrete facts or evidence that proves this statement to be wrong then let me hear it. Otherwise, stop the name calling because sometimes the TRUTH hurts! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  19. I didn't say he was not a good coach...I said "he wasn't good enough" Playing some great teams CLOSE in the state tournament is exactly my point- Getting close doesn't count! His track record over the years has them losing in the sub-state or state tournament to equal or better teams. I just don't think he is a good enough coach to beat equal or better teams when it counts. I also think they've had enough talent over the years to win a State Championship at the AA level. Personally, I think the weak schedule they play year in and year out hurts them come March. What good holiday tournaments have they played in to get them ready for the state tournament? Lenoir City Classic, Times Freepress...those are really tough! What makes this team and coach any different? Not bashing just putting out the some facts.
  20. McMinn Central has had several talented teams over the last decade and has yet to win a State Championship. What makes this year any different? In my opinion, their coach is not good enough to win it. He has won his games over the years by having more talent. He can't beat the good teams at the state tournament
  21. Redandbluebasketballguy.......makes an excellent point. Until 2 years ago there were only 5 teams in the district. So how can you applaud a coach for making the region tournament during that time when 4 out of the 5 make it to the region? You need to wake up! I can't argue that Bradley's had more talent than McMinn over the last few years.....they have had the most talent of any team in the area over the last several years. But to say Cleveland has had more talent than McMinn each year is wrong! Lets take last year......Cleveland started 5 guards (Alex Goldston at Hiwassee is the only one that is currently playing in college), and beat McMinn 2 out of 3 times last year. This year McMinn has a ton more talent that Cleveland, and Cleveland has already beat them once already. If you can find someone that thinks Cleveland has more talent that McMinn (this year or last) PLEASE LET me know because they need their head examined along with yours. Cleveland has had 1 D1 player (Charles Little) over the last several years (and you see where they went with him....2006 State Tournament). Juan (sp?) Smith's senior year (by the way who is currently averaging close to 14 pts a game at Tennessee) McMinn County only won 1 District game during the regular season. I think he was a little talented (laughing), and to be honest they had some quality support players during that time as well. I am not responding on here to bash Coach Elliot, but to respond to your comments about the talent level at McMinn County over the last several years, and to disagree with your comment about McMinn County's region appearances.
  22. Fine Red Bank? For taking the shaft without a fight? Red Bank fouling is not really what I am questioning.....the Bradley foul count is the ISSUE? Your a Bradley fan.....of course you are going to say that. Oglesvy 33 FT attempts Red Banks (TEAM) less than 10
  23. Without a doubt....BRADLEY......8 on 5 is an understatement! There are many examples to prove this statement true, but lets look at the most recent. Bradley beats Red Bank 89-87, and Terrance Oglesvy shoots 33 Free throws by HIMSELF. I think Red Banks team shot less than 10 Free throws. There was a Technical late in the game on Red Banks (Benford) that allowed Oglesvy to shoot 4 straight free throws to win the game when his team was down 2. The TSSAA should look into this situation.
  24. Again, I must disagree......I'm still trying to figure out how Cleveland won 20 games this season, considering they had no post play..... they will lose 4 starters, and return 1 senior (Preston Scoggin) next year. They will go threw another year of not having any size, but next year that want have experienced guards. They could possibly be playing alot of freshmen and sophmores. So how do think they will do much better??????? Just wondering?????
  25. OK....your not going to admit it...thats fine. Congratulation to McMinn Central for getting to the final four. Let me remind you that my comments are based on things you have said about McMinn Central throughout the year. You thought they had a shot to win it, and I didn't. I thought my opinion was made a fact when Central got beat by 23 (excuse me...instead of 25+) to Liberty. I believe if Central played Liberty, Mitchell, or Bolivar 10 times each....they would lose all 10 games to each. I am not trying to bash McMinn Central, but I am totally in disagreement with your comments. I am agreeing to disagree. Again, congrats of the final four.
