  1. Battle Royal! Thanks for the update netfan.
  2. Vikes upset Crockett in a large way tonight. DB downs Volunteer in 6. Boone takes the Hill to extra innings. Any updates on that game? The big 9 is wide open.
  3. I am dumb? I thought tempor was a way to cook shrimp or steak? No wait that is tempura. Maybe I am dumb but.. Once again goofarooofbaseball you get the Moe Ron of the week award. I really can't tell if you are talking about South or the Vikes, Payne or Krebs. Either way it is a ramble that has nothing to do with your last post. Dude I am sorry. Keep em shot and sweet and maybe we could all get something out of what you are trying to say.
  4. Say What? Say What? Hey goofarooofbaseball! Figure on this, the South and DB games both both went extra innings with the Vikes. Games that could have gone either way. And at what point did THS have the Tribe beat they didn't lead after 7. That was one heck of a game. You think Krebs aint the real deal? Who will the next fool be? The DB SH final was 2-1. Short of the 1st inning The Indians did not allow another run. The Vikes lead SH after the 5th inning. Both South and THS final scores were lopsided in the end. Oh yeah the DB SH final was 2-1 in case you missed that. Pick your posion any Big 9 team against your Va. team.
  5. I don't guess 3-2 vs. East was either. Don't get me wrong, right now Crockett is one of the best 2 in the league if not the best. Science Hill has the depth though over anybody with their rotation.
  6. Monday night the scout below me said his gun was reading 2mph faster than the board on Krebs. The gun at J. Fred is in the pressbox window makes sense it could lose a couple. Either way that was gas tonight. Not to mention going from 90 to 70 on a nasty curve Harvey flat dug deep tonight and that was his best yet and it is early.
  7. The Kingsport Times News had a small article today. Coaches poll , small bit on the teams. Tricitiessports.com typically has a good write up for whole upper east Tennessee area but nothing so far. The seem to have been in decline since the start of their paid subscription.
  8. Its going to be hard to argue with that.
  9. In my life? LOL!! Probably got close to 50 in 2008. South Carolina 8, East Cobb plus area HS Ga 4, Va. 2, NC 2, East TN 20?, Cleveland area 4, Murfrees 3, Franklin 2, Nashville 4 just off the top of my head. Couple of favs...Riverdale, Morristown East, Cardinal Park With the turf....DB is a whole diff deal. One of the nicest at any level.
  10. First scrimmage of the season last night @ DB. Let me tell you the field at J. Fred Johnson Stadium home of the Indians is now complete and looks fantastic. 2nd to none. The dugouts are complete the new brick looks great. Bull Pens at both dugouts are flawless. If your team is not on the DB schedule please look at playing there this summer at one of their tournaments. you will not be disappointed. DB fans this is something to be proud of. Come out and see the Tribe play this year. And yes this is a High School only field.
  11. Short scrimmage lasted just short of 2 hours. HV made some good def plays. Scored one un earned run on a 1st and 3rd steal to 2nd with 2 outs late throw on the steal enabled the runner from 3rd to steal. Few hits sprinkled here and there. 3rd baseman did a good job. DB scored 5 or 6 Crawford went 3 for 3 with 2 HR's one was a bomb to center. Pitchers for both needed the work, off and on finding the strike zone. DB needs Big Dave in the rotation this year he went for a couple innings showed signs he can get it over with some gas. Doran and Harvey did pretty good for the first time out. HV needs to get the junk over for a strike or find some gas, that could make or break them. All in all it was a great night to be at the field.
  12. DB welcomes Happy Valley to The Fred today. Looking forward to seeing the boys scrimmage this afternoon. What positions do Hodge and Mann play?
  13. Getting this train back on the tracks. The Tribe scrimmages Thursday and Saturday. Farragut and Science Hill are the only Tennessee teams ranked in the National High School Pre-Season top 100 by PG. #3 and #87 respectively tbca.org has some preseason coaches notes.... Tennessee High 16-15 2/8 45 The 2009 THS Vikings will be returning 7 positional starters with only 1 varsity hurler. Senior pitcher Jon Krebs returns as the only starting pitcher back for the Vikings. Krebs was 6-2 with a 3.16 ERA and had 55 k's in 48.2 IP. Krebs has committed to Walters State CC. A couple of transfer students including Bryan College signee Chris Upright, a senior rhp from North Carolina, are expected to boost the pitching rotation. Senior Storm Ketron hit .354 with 24 rbi and highlights the experienced Viking offense returning. Senior leadoff/SS Jarrod Payne(.337, 25 runs scored) will once again be relied on as a catalyst at the top of the line-up. Payne has committed to Spartanburg Methodist JC. Other offensive returnee's include 3B Jon Krebs (SR/.314), DH/C Dylan Crockett (JR/.288), 3B/Util Stephen Mullins (SO/.287), 2B Cody Snyder(JR/.260), along with defensive standouts sophomore catcher Austin Snyder (.994 fld.% with 1 error in 176 chances) and senior centerfielder Skyler Shope (1 error in 39 chances). "I am very excited about our competitive chances this year", says 2nd year Coach Gill Payne. "Last year was a battle trying to get our older kids to buy into our philosophy, but most of this group are very receptive. With a solid returning defense that boasted a school record .946 fielding percentage, an offense that has matured, and the progression of our pitching staff over the winter, I like our chances." Dobyns-Bennett 14-16 2/28 60 Dobyns-Bennett returns 7 starting position players and 6 starting pitchers from the 2008 14 and 16 team. Our strengths will be our pitching and our defense. If our offense is productive against our league's good pitchers, we should have a banner year. All 6 of our pitchers threw over 30 varsity innings. All of our varsity position players had over 60 at bats. With this experience, we should be able to compete in every game we play. We return our entire infield, our starting catcher and one starting outfielder. We also return our 2 through 8 hitters. After suffering through last year without a field we are excited to be playing on our new surface. David Crockett 21-14 2/28 69 The 09 pioneers lost 3 seniors from last years team. The strength will be in the pitching staff where we return 3 of the top 4 pitchers from a year ago. Clinton Freeman (11/LHP), Milligan signee, Brandon Massey (12/RHP), and Chris Marti (10/RHP) The key to our ultimate success on the mound will be our health and to find some quality depth. Offensively the pioneers will again be led by Freeman and Massey. Juniors Jacob Berry (2 year starter at 2nd) and Drue Deloach (transfer from Science Hill) will be relied on heavily to pro-duce at the plate as well. A trio of talented sophomores (Marti, Ty Shipley, Sam Tarlton) should be able step in and make us better both offensively and defensively from a year ago. We are very excited about our chances this spring. Building on our success from last season and a feeling of coming up just short last spring has motivated this group during the off season. Our conference is very strong and balanced from top to bottom. Playing with a sense of urgency night in and night out is a must for us to make a run!
  14. First name Moe. Last name Ron. And thats about all I got to say about that.
  15. Yes sir it will be a great game for both programs to open up with. No time to fool around this game could have a big impact for the whole year.
  16. There will not be a Big 9 Jamboree @ Dobyns Bennett
  17. Unicoi County (Erwin TN) has a jersey that is very simular to the old Houston Astros uni with the fade stripes, except Unicoi's is a blue fade instead of orange. Hands down these are the best at any level I have seen.
  18. How is it looking down that way? Anybody have the Kevin Calia Tournament schedule that they can share?
  19. Science Hill is taking it to the streets this spring. Scenic City Classic, Riverdale Warrior Spring Classic, Sportsbelle, Kevin Calia Oak Ridge Tournament.. As for the Kevin Calia Oak Ridge Tournament..here is some of the teams listed DB , Science Hill, Oak Ridge, Powell, Sequoyah, Daniel Boone
  20. We are on the Oak Ridge schedule........ Friday 4/10/2009 Kevin Calia Classic - Dobyns Bennett (Kingsport)Hopkins Field Noon
  21. PB if the info I got was correct DB opens at Crockett on the 10th , the 1st Central game got moved up to the 23rd of March, They are going to Oak Ridge April 9 10 11 and add North to the end of the schedule.
  22. That was the game Coach Morgan missed. I don't think you will see the Tribe play that kind of game tonight.
  23. I quoted what you wrote. Read what you write. Read what I wrote, I did not state make the team. Above you say beat out a player where previously you wrote.. "They have guys that will not play that could start anywhere on other teams" moooving on.
  24. Come on NET you are losing some street cred here. Take the blinders off. You said "They have guys that will not play that could start anywhere on other teams" SH does have some depth and Sharpe is a good ball player no question. But really could he knock out Krebbs @ 3rd? Crawford @ SS? Freeman in the OF?
  25. The best ... Dobyns Bennett.. Turf playing surface College Style Fieldhouse Locker Room Seperate Building with 3 indoor pitching lanes and 2 MLB pitching machines http://www.tricitiesphotos.com/p/baseball_...poster_taylor38 (best link I could find to show field)
