  1. The QB from Cumberland Gap H.S. gave his verbal to the Pioneers yesterday. Congrats Corey and good luck.
  2. Stan, I spoke too soon. I don't see a direct link to the TACA. Any suggestions?
  3. I thought it would be hard to find many people who knew much about this event. It just kind of seems to happen.
  4. How do you get a hold of them? I posted this on the football forum, but I wanted to check with the coaches too.
  5. Those are kind words Relaxed and Ranger. Funny enough, I too have no vested interest in Cumberland Gap other than they are a neighboring school. I have followed them this year and can shed some light on why they have had some success. #1) They have a solid group of senior players: Corey Russell is the QB, he is a tremendous athletic talent who will make a good QB for some college. Caleb Medley is Russell's favorite target at WR who also plays CB. Tyler Fransico is a heckuva player who broke his collar bone about a month ago. The list goes on with kids like Overton and Rowlett. #2) Their spread you out/run and pass offensive scheme has been effective. #3) The new facilities seem to have the community revitalized. As far as consolidation, the school they combined with brought absolutely zero talent to the field. Having said that, let's see where they are this time next year when all of their senior laden support is gone.
  6. Union County wins. I would say by 2 to 3 touchdowns. Union is too big upfront on both sides of the ball and they are much better at the skill positions.
  7. Deputy Dog, Take 25E from Morristown to Tazewell. In Tazewell, you will come to the red light intersecting 25E and 33, turn right and stay on 25E to Harrogate about 10-12 miles. In Harrogate, turn left at the second red light, this will put you on highway 63. Follow 63 approximately 2 miles, when you see right and left turn lanes appear in the highway turn left (I don't remember the name of this road off 63). After the left turn this road ends with a 3 way stop, turn right. Cumberland Gap H.S. is about a 1/2 mile on the left. Have a safe trip. GO PANTHERS!
  8. Very insightful replies ftballfanatic. Evaluating talent is not a perfect science hopefully things will work out for all these athletes.
  9. Corey Russell from Cumberland Gap H.S. has to be mentioned in this group. He is tall, athletic, and has a very good arm. He is D-1 material and whoever signs him will have a good one at the QB spot for the next few years. (I am not even a fan of his high school, but he is special)
  10. football fan, From what I have seen and read, Cumberland Gap's defense should be getting better that is the only unit to see the field in the first 2 games. Giving up 300 yds. rushing against Rutledge and 234 yds. on 43 carries!!! vs. S. Greene. I'll be a big enough person to call CG's quarterback by name. It's Corey Russell, and he is a dang good one. I am a fan for another local H.S., but anyone who knows anything about the game can tell you he is a good QB and CGHS should be glad they have him, because there will times this year you lean heavily on him. As for the game: If CG can limit UC's carries on offense, I see this one being close until the end.
