  1. The Hawks have some bright spots. They have a lot of young players who are doing a lot of good things. Clevenger is among the top in tackles and sacks. Krebs is a great linebacker who is also doing good things at fullback. Bishop is going to top the 1000 yard mark and Schlosser is a good reciever. Karns should not take this team lightly. Anderson County was a game that the Hawks showed a lot of improvement. You can hear the game on metrotalk67.com as myself and T Blackmon call the game. Good luck to both teams. TC
  2. Things are not the same without Boom Big Sticks on WATO of Friday nights. let me know where to go so I can help.
  3. You breaker take it easy on the 2003 team. As i remember (since i was in the huddle) our running backs including one you know well were pretty banged up. I also remember a running back wide open in the end zone but the ball was tipped before it got there. But i agree with you that who ever the coach is for this team I will support. I have just been giving who I think would be a great person for the job. Besides do we really know who is being brought in for interviews. It seems that Pemberton and Gray are the only names popping up. There has to be more to this. But who? Does rally, blade or anyone else even kool aid have any other people? I am not trying to be mean but I want to know. Besides shouldnt spring ball be coming up soon. Final thought whoever gets the job will have more bad press than lane Kiffin to deal with. Just less recruiting violations... hopefully.
  4. I am a little disappointed in this board. With all of the great minds that know everything that goes on in Oak Ridge, the only reason that is given as to why Ron Gray is a option for the head coach of Oak Ridge is the fact that he and Coach Mullins are friends. Come on there has got to be better reasons. Lets take alook. Numerous playoff games. Numerous players named for post season awards. Look at the names atop of the record books in Oak Ridge Football in offensive stats and you will probably find guys that played in Grays offense. Porter, McMahon, Booker, Gulmire(sp). Then you look at the number of lineman that won awards Josh Anderson, Jonas Burnam, Micheal Beehan, just to name a few. He is a good coach. Villeram said that he puts the 11 best football players on the field. that is true. I am a perfect example. I wasnt very athletic but coach gave me a chance. So if you are gonna take your kids away form OR just because of the football coach then we dont want you here anyway. So people I have a challenge for you . No matter who takes over(whenever that finally comes) lets get back to what we do best. Lets win football games. Lets find the tradition that Oak Ridge is known for. Lets Roll Wildcats Roll.
  5. Ole Dad I can't believe you went that far talking bad about Coach Mullins. How can you even doubt Mullins and his desire for the success of all of Oak Ridge High School sports. He puts more effort than anyone else in this town does. Mullins wasn't the problem. His hands were tied just like every other persons were when Mr. Green and company hired Stanton. The funny thing is that Mr. Green if I'm not mistaken was not even going to be in the Oak Ridge School System the following year. So with that being said I think that giving the timing of the job opening and school getting out for breaks and the holidays you should back off. But thats just my opinion and there is always a chance of me being wrong.
  6. Man i can tell you the answer from all three of those coaches. NO. If GQ would not leave Maryville for a job at UT then why would he come to the Atomic City.
  7. Myster you really are something else. Im sure that the coaches at White House know how to stop the option. I mean it aint that hard. You gotta play your responsability. I dont need tape from another game to tell you what KC will do. They will line up behind that big o-line they have and run it down your throat. will it always work, no? but as you learned they can throw it. and Daniel Hood makes a nice target. So dude i have one more question... how do you accuse a church school of cheating? (that last part was a joke)
  8. Thats what makes KC a good team.. They do what they have to to win. at this point in the playoffs it aint gottta be pretty its just gotta count. I dont know much about White House but for them to be in the Semi's they are good. Just a tip for the fans come early and bring chairs or blankets. Chairs because there probably wont be room in the stands and blankets to sit on the stands in you get lucky.
  9. It is amazing how much this Farragut team has adapted to a more balanced attack compared to the amazing running game they had last year. Good luck to both teams and do you think that the Farragut coaches will review the game film of Oak Ridge and Ooltewah....
  10. Sir Pettus, my personal opinion is that you would be a great addition to the Wildcat coaching staff. Please come back home. I know that you still have that Wildcat pride. Good luck in your search.
  11. Sirpettus its good to see you on here. The faithful need to be with this team. Good luck this weel against Farragut
  12. I know that the weather had alot to do with the small crowd. The forecast had been cold and wet all week, so i think that a lot of people made other plans. I actually went and stayed the whole time, and I invited a former player that graduated with me and he left at the start of the 3rd quarter. I hate to see this. the talent on this team is no less or more than in previous years, but the way the talent is being used is the only difference.
  13. The Cats will have to beat the Owls (who destroyed the #1 team in the state) and the former #1 team in the state Farragut to make the playoffs. This also means we would need some help from McMinn County. I'm sure that they will understand. So good luck cats and strap it on real tight this week. If Tyler Clark is out this week, our chances drop dramastically. He is a good leader on offense, and a good defender. oak ridge might wanna think about throwing the deep ball against that great backfield of the owls.
  14. now guys this thread is supposed to be about the game tomorrow night. But since it has been brought to my attention lets discuss it. ive made it know that i was not in huge favor of hiring stevens, but he is the coach of the team that i played for and i will support the team. However I do not believe that the talent is being used correctly. not being able to go to all pratices, games, events and what nots i cant say that i could do better but this is not oak ridge football. me and another former lineman talked today and he was shocked at how bad some things were with this team. This game against Soddy and the remaining two are playoffs. if they lose more than one they can almost kiss the playoffs good bye. this region is tuff and every game in the region is a chance to make your claim for a playoff spot. some where along the line maybe even when coach lussier was here we forgot that. someone said to me that the current oak ridge players have a swagger when they walk, thats what oak ridge players are supposed to have. this team needs a reminder on what this program is..... its tradition. when the sign starts lighting up and the band starts playing you are not just playing for any other team its the wildcats. so go out there and show the world, all of the coacht posters, and yourselves that you are ready to reclaim that glory. so is this an issue of race...... no its all about winning.
  15. I hate that hazelhurst will miss this game. i remember how special it was to play clinton when i was in an oak ridge jersery. how does this hurt the gameplan of the dragons? I really hate that both of these teams will not be a full power. Good luck to both teams........
  16. I talked to GC after the game and he admitted that he did not call a great game in the second half. It was a good game. Good luck to both teams and can't wait until the rematch.
  17. Thank you to who ever started this post. 9/11 attacked out country and everything it stands for. the last time I checked high school football was important to this country. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who died during those attacks and for those who have served since then. I remember that week, That Friday night i saw two schools ( Oak Ridge and Heritage) come together to show our respect for our country. God Bless America and God Bless high school football.
  18. I have to agree with OR Nole. Just because we don't all bash Stevens dosen't mean that we are not pleased. It appears that since Gulmire, Trent, Whaley, and Coffey led them to state the team has not had the killer instinct, that Oak Ridge is known for. This team has lots of talent. However I believe in my opinion that it is misused. Rodgers in not a every down running back, he would be a great speed back to a power back if there was one. However I believe that he will be missed at WR. The biggest improvement of the offseason was Irby moving to DE. He had a great game against Fulton, but now can he dominate like that every week. I hope so, because that will help the defense that much more. Good Luck Cats.
  19. I know that Bradley is not the top team in Region 2-5a but this will be a good measuring stick for the Cats. The Chattanooga style of football is very physical and very tough. I dont think that Fulton showed that too much to The Cats. From here on out everyteam will be looking to push OR around. How many different linebackers do they normally use and is Underwood used only in specific downs?
  20. Thanks Ole Dad. I'm glad you are always here to catch us when we fall. Hey you need to check out my sports call in radio show at wutkradio.com Thursday nights at 7:00 as we have begun a high school football segement. i was impressed with Irby at d-end. Very good control of his body to hassle opposing quaterback.
  21. I dont know much about Bradley for this year. But they are a typical team from the southern part of 2-5a. Big and physical. Oak Ridge will need to score while on offense because not every team on the schedule wil look so bad on special teams. Also every team from here on out will not be so young, so the cats better strap it on real tight... Good Luck
  22. I dont think that this game will be a blow out. Coach Shattuck has inspired a change in the Dragons Den and its not long before they will be making a strong push for post season play. However Kerr returns a great group of seniors who look like they can challenge for the top spot in the region.......
