  1. To critisize Coach U on not passing, and say Meadows mixed it up more is not even close. Meadows did not mix up the pass either. Yes there was a lot of passing, but it was all to One receiver. Yes, that receiver was good. But it wasn't as I have stated before throwing talent by Clement that did it it was Tyler that did the work. Coach Meadows had a lot of other options that he did not rely upon. Most of the time we did not need them, but if utilized we could have went undefeated last year. If we were to pass to the T/E at DB either last year, or this year we would have won the game. It would have opened up the offence, and it was wide open both years. There is no comparison there between the two coaches. If Coach U would have been here the last two years in the place of Meadows, Our boys would be wearing a ring from last season. 9-2 was a good year, but it could have been much more. But no use living in the past, no use comparing someone that is not here. Yes we need to pass a little more, but Luther in at T/E on some Hot passes, Run some more short passes with the recievers, I agree that would help open up the offense. But no one can knock the improvement of the TEAM that has been made this year, but this group of boys coming in, especially these seniors, have always played as a TEAM. All the way from grass cutter ball. Coach U if you would have came two years earlier, we may have had back to back State rings. Oakland2001, you are right, he has not had time to learn everyone. Unfortunately the year will be through by the time he has to get the kinks worked out. The 2 platoom system has worked better than I thought it would, the unexperienced o-line has done a much better job. I would like to see more size in when we get close to scoring, maybe bring in Yeary, Green, Luther, Hop and mix them in when it is getting close. I know he doesn't want to play them both ways, and it is understandable, but these boys in on the offensive line, the 3 times in the 20 at DB would have at least produced 2 touch downs. Well enough said. This is suppose to be a post on the Karns game. Keep your heads on straight boys, and get your first win on the road this year. Defense, keep pitching your shut out, you will get some recognition sometime.
  2. Your Thoughts for best D-Line. Let people have their thoughts. Jeff County has one of the best D-Lines out there, especially running a 3 man front.
  3. Another vote for Jeff County, yeary, luther, hop up front, then follow up with Green and Smiley. Defense gave up 14 in the last 4 games.
  4. Williams, and #48 from DB Shirv., Yeary, Green, Luther from Jeff county Filmore to kick from West
  5. Exactly Lawyer, last year's numbers were so great, because everyone wanted to be on a championship program. Everyone knew that JC had a chance to win state last year and all wanted a ring. This year's numbers are lower than last, but look a couple years back, they are right there along the same number of players. I like the discipline that Coach U has brought back in. Last year w/ M. a player would come off, throwing a 2 year old tantrum, throw his helmet at the fence, be booed by the crowd, then be right back in the game. I welcome the discipline that has come with this years team, and it will build a strong program.
  6. I agree, Luther is solid. He has been double teamed most of the year, and still penetrates the line, and reaks havoc on the O. Also being double teamed has cleared the way for red, smiley, and green to do some work. But with him and most of these kids on this years team, they are doing it for the Team. All 3 d-line, should be all-state this year.
  7. If Jeff Co. were to play R Co again today, it would be a completely different ball game. DB is good, Jeff stepped up to the plate. But DB does not win the state. If they even get to the final verses Riverdale.
  8. I am for rival, but Cocke county will not score 28 on this defense.

    DB wins

Great game Patriots. The Defense did an awesome job giving up only 7 points to a team that scores 30+ consistently. Luther, Yeary and Hop, awesome job, LB's, and secondary, you did outstanding shutting out #1. Nothing to hang your heads about, DB, can say they played like crap all they want, but they played like crap because the Patriots Defense caused it.
  10. Denton is doing a good job stepping is as a sophomore, work on his quickness and strength he will be good the next two years.
  11. Lawyer, Offensive Line is completely brand new except for Cline. Beginning the season they had the line going both ways, with Luther, Yeary, Green, Red. At that point, they had moved Billy into Guard/Tackle and put red at TE. Since then, Marcus Bingham is TE now. Billy and Yeary are defensive tackles, and both doing a good job. Both are tough. Hopkins is nose guard, and has finally woke up, Daniel is middle lb. running a 3-4, with the 4 man, being able to float around. which helps red out.
  12. you don't know me, i did get along with both and i like both, just the facts
  13. These posts are some of the most ridiculous I have ever seen. First, Drew is not worthy to be the starting QB, that is why he did not win the job. Good grief, if you knew these kids, D could not even remember the play by the time he got to the huddle. Not to cut on D, he can't help it. But the reason he quit is this is the first time in his life that his daddy was not able to go out and push his weight around and get what he wants. I have seen D since Tball, and D is always been the best, fastest, strongest, most talented, etc. according to Daddy. D's daddy thinks that D should have started prior to Parker last year. So enough said on this. Anyone who walks off and quits his senior year, will regret it later. Ben is a leader, he may not have the best arm, but he is the best choice we have at the moment. As far as the defense, we have a awesome d-line with Yeary, Hopkins, and Luther. Yeary and Luther is either in the backfield every play, or they are taking two o-linemen each to hold them up, which leaves room for our linebackers, and ol' red to shine. Green, Yeary, Luther, Hopkins, are all team players, and always have been. It is not about them. That is what makes this defense. And for the most part this whole Patriot team this year. They have always been that way. There is not the one particular superstar, and that is not always a bad thing. Win or Lose, I know that these boys will give it their all. win, they will be estatic, lose, they will be broken hearted, but they will go out the next week and be ready to play again, not just walk off and quit. I wish the coaches knew as much as all the people on these posts. Maybe some of these people should have applied for the job when Jeff County was taking applications, huh?
  14. Good post Gov. I am from Jeff, but there are some people from there that absolutely embarrass me from admitting that. Meadows is gone, oh well, get over it. I did not hate to see him go, he is a good coach yes, but there are many out there. I would have rather had Coach U come two years ago. But in response to the post earlier, Coach M, is not the one that turned Jeff County around, getting K out of the position is what turned it around, K was a good coach in his day, but his days had long past. Pure Talent last year is what turned it around. Oh yea and Gov, don't for get the one about getting the beam out of your own eye... I did hate to see Aaron go, but i hope he has a good year. he is a good kid. Good luck to the Govs, unless they meet us in playoffs.
  15. Gov, you are right, she is a quality individual, and a worker and an asset for the team. She will work her tail off for them. It was a loss for Jeff County both ways, Aaron and mom. I think there is more to the story, but no one will ever know.
  16. Blount canceled the scrimmage, jeff co is looking for someone to scrimmage now. Yeary is doing really well stepping into the fullback spot, qb's has a way to go, so does shirv. he is quick, but has a lot to learn, he won the fastest back at the jamboree last night, on the o line, cline, green, luther are doing good as usual, hopkins is finally coming on, somebody has wokehim up, thank goodness, d is about the same people need some more depth.
  17. Exactly, Thank you Volhammer. jc4life is good at running his mouth, but doesn't know what he is talking about. heck, he can't even spell patriot right, he has it patroit in his signature.. didn't even know the boys had a camp in house, and he tells me to come to practice. Please.... well anyway, enough of that, let's pull together, these boys need our support.
  18. jc i don't know how much you know about the team, but you need to check things out, Daniel is starting lb, he could not play last night, didn't you notice that he was in shorts and a t-shirt. He was dehydrated Thurs, went to the hospital, Scott cannot play much at a time, they are playing a 3-4, Luther was double teamed all night, and still flushed out the play and drove them both back, I agree that Trey can run, also you should be able to tell Shiver is not that smart, speed only in the open field, he hasn't ever hit his holes, Rabbit will come in time, that is why they were giving him some time in the "scrimmage" But maybe you should coach Huh?
  19. yes 5 touchdowns, but 4 against the 2nd, 3rd and 4th strings, Good Job!!!
  20. They did have a camp two weeks ago, and lived at the school for their camp.
  21. I hate to see Aaron go, and also Ms Carson. I know nothing of what happened, but i know in the past that Ms. Carson has been a great asset, working very hard for the boys. This is a loss to Jeff County in both aspects.
  22. JC, I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that WB and JC are going to scrimmage in the pre-season. I'll just about guarantee you that you're getting ready to be really, really surprised. I'm not sure how much Jeff County will be improved over last year when you struggled with the young Governor team in the play-offs, but WB is much, much better. We'll see. No doubt, you've got bragging rights now. Until we can prove it on the field, we don't have much room to talk. But the day could be closer than you think... thumb thumb thumb Gov, You are correct, we will be scrimmaging in the pre-season, but as we both know, scrimmage doesn't show a lot. You are right, it was a tough game, and I gave the WB team my respect last fall due to it. You have some class players, especially when your receiver dropped that wide open pass at the end of the half, they came out and walked with him and lifted him up they did not down him. That speaks a lot for your program then. I know you have plenty of talent coming back, and Meadows is a good coach with talent. Watch the discipline with your boys go down though, unforutnately. Saw it first hand at Jeff Co last year. I like Coach E. already has instilled some discipline back into a much needed program. Hopefully both programs will continue to strive and become a good rivalry. Good luck to you all unless you meet the pats in the playoffs.
  23. Gov, We know that WB has some talent, otherwise Meadows would not have came there. Choo Choo! Ride that train...
  24. Parker was made by Tyler and Tyler alone, don't get me wrong, Parker is an athlete on the court and the diamond, but Tyler made him what people think he was on the field. Jeff and Scoot is the biggest loss, My hats off to both of those guys, but some talent is coming up some good solid players. Euverard is well accepted except by a few people that wouldn't accept the best coach in the world, not naming any names because someone find something wrong with anyone, so don't hold all Jeff county liable for a few ignorant people. Good solid line coming back, just new coaches have to learn the kids all over again. The Ones that show in Practice are alot of the ones that choke in the game, so naturally there is going to be a learning curve and time. Jeff county should have a good year, and should be able to give anyone a run for their money. Give the poor kids a break though, Seniors this year have their third coach in 4 years learning their 3rd offence. And to compete at the level they do with changes as that, says a lot for these kids. Good luck to all teams, but especially Jeff County.
