    HHS vs WBHS

Well, tonight is the night to meet at The Woodshed, should be a fun night. I think GovNana and GovPapa will be there, wonder which side they will choose to sit on? Will you be there or are you 'Bama bound? Good luck to both teams, with just a LITTLE edge for The Mountaineers.
  2. Not sure about mistakes on stat reporting, KnoxPrep.com today says Branham now has 165 tackles. Also shows 6 sacks.

I sure miss you, Coop. Come and see me sometime. We got a new camper, so we should go camping again. What positions have you been playing? If you guys go to playoofs I would love to come and see you play. Are you #24 after Jeff Gordon????? Just kidding, good luck to Greenback.

    Is this MY Coop?????
  5. Zing, I am sure glad you guys did not have these trick plays down pat last week, it would have been much worse on us, I am sure. Yep, like I said I try not to ever blame a loss on refs. And there were some calls BOTH ways that were questionable. I really try to teach my son (GO #82) to accept resposibility for what he does, both on and off the field and to not place blame on other factors. That is what it is all about in my opinion!

I agree with GovMan, be on the lookout, it could go either way. As he says, on paper and looking back at the season, WB should come out on top, but we have a group of Seniors that want to win at least one more time, and they are full of heart! Whatever the outcome, I just want to let the Mountaineers know that boys, I am proud of you this year, you have overcome some really bad events and you still keep on plugging! Keep in mind that whatever does not kill you makes you stronger..... Go #82!!!!!
  7. Tackle, I enjoyed this thread also. I am from Blount County and I went to Everett, and my uncle was head coach at Friendsville. The memories of Friday nights at these small community schools will always be with me. The community spirit was so much greater back then. I grew up on high school football, and I sure miss the days!!! Good post!!!!
  8. I will add my two cents worth to this. I am president of our Booster Club and it is exactly as has been stated above. There are about 6-7 parents who do everything that has to be done, and the others just want to fuss over what has not been done. We have to raise the funds to feed our boys thier pre-game meals, then serve the meals and clean up. The parents did help participate in raising money (well, about 75% of the parents) but there is always the same few parents that do the leg work. And I would not miss a game for anything in the world! My daughter wanted to get me tickets to see Fleetwood mac for my birthday, and for any of you 40ish people like me, that would have been an ultimate gift. But the concert was on a Friday night, so I sadly declined the tickets. Of well, this is a loosing battle. It will never change at our school.

I LIKE Grad.......He (or she) is cool.....
  10. I really do not have any insight into exactly what happened. Over on the visitor side there were 4-5 police starting about 3 minutes before the game was over. There had been personal foul calls on both sides a couple of times during the game and apparently both sides were rather mouthy. I turned around to get my blankets and the next thing I knew the police were in the middle of the boys, and needless to say, there were no handshakes! I am in no way blaming this event solely on Bradley and I sincerely hope that the blame is not laid solely on Heritage. Both sides were wrong, and I feel sure that our coach will address the issue at practice today. And I will be the first to say that my son was in the thick of things. I do not think there were any actual blows, just some shoving and some inappropriate language. I would like to say that this is not a normal way of behavior for Heritage and I am sorry that things got out of hand.
  11. Well, the reason I asked is we played Bradley in Cleveland last week and there was just a tad of home-cooking going on. I am not making any excuses for our fairly poor playing, but I was kind of hoping for your sake that the game would be in Athens. The fans and the parents were very nice and polite, but I am sure you probably heard that there was a bit of a problem on the field after the game. Again, I would not dare to blame it one one side or the other, it was just an unfortunate experience. I am sure our boys were as "mouthy" as they were. You see, I try very hard to not lay blame on losses on refs, coaches, etc. These boys will have to learn in life to take responsibilty for thier own actions. But anyway.... good luck in this traditional match-up, and I suppose we will meet you guys the next week at Heritage.
  12. Where will the game be played????
  13. Yep, that would be a true statement also, I did not mean any disrespect to your boys. I am sure that they came back fired up!!!!! Good luck to you guys too!!!!
  14. GovMan is a CLASS ACT!!!! We all talk up our teams, but what we fail to remember is they are KIDS and they are not perfect, on the field or off. I am sure that the Govs were heartbroken that they let that one slip away. I respect GovMan for his comments about the game.
  15. OldSkool, Not to be rude, and certainly trying to be realistic, but even Heritage still would have a shot, I believe. All three of our last games are region games, and I know that according to all of the poster on here we are UNDERDOGS, and may not have a chance in you-know-what. BUT in theory we could win these games. Notice I said "IN THEORY". I am very realistic, and I certainly do not expect this to happen. Even so, I love my Mountaineers, and I am proud of them for their efforts and their heart. And you know, stranger things have certainly happened in this region. Whatever the outcome, good luck to all teams in this region. I have learned a lot about the character of the teams down south of us, and you guys are fine people. GO MOUNTAINEERS!!! GO # 82 !!!!!
  16. One thing about South Doyle that impresses me... if you look in KnoxPreps Leaderboards for 5A stats the leader in tackles is Branham with 151 total tackles, almost twice as many as the number two. I realize that all schools do not report stats to KnoxPreps, but this is impressive!!!!!He has 86 solo tackles!!! Not bad, not bad!!!!!
  17. Hey GovMan, I could not get into the chat room with my former name so hence the name change. Although the chat room does not seem to get much traffic. #82's hand is healing nicely, he still played the whole game against Ooltewah. And no slight intended toward Ooltewah, but after reviewing file, we were IN on the first two point conversion and also IN on the second TD, both of which were called as not in. Oh, well, that is water under the bridge, the Owls played us well and fair and square, and they were very gracious hosts. There is always next year!!! Looking forward to "Meetin' at the Woodshed" and best of luck to all of the boys. BTW, how is my look-alike gonna do in round ball this year? Can't wait to watch her!!!
  18. I just left the doctor's office and saw Ryan there. HE IS CLEARED TO PLAY!!! I am sure that is good news for you guys. He did say that the doctor warned him to not play with pain, so we will be praying for the best for him.
  19. Oh, man, I missed the cheer. Refs lookin' good, though. I am so proud of both sides, and I thank you so much!!!That 75 yarder was very inpressive!!! Yep, #82 played pretty good for his handicap. It took him until the second half to get into full swing, in fact, you can thank him for your first td. He missed his guy!!! Tell me more about the cheer!!! Oh yeah, saw a couple of refs talking to a couple of our cheerleaders. Cute, aren't they???? Good luck next week Owls. Can we beat Bradley?
  20. We won everywhere but where it counts, on the scoreboard. Still proud of the Mountaineers, and I hope your team wins next week. Good Luck.
  21. Good games, Owls. We got there early and tailgated, then settled in to watch our Mountaineers totally sleep for the first quarter. The game got some better after that. Our running game progressed fairly well, we just could not get it over the line in the end zone. This is my son's last year, but I will be there next year when you travel up 75 to Heritage. Until then..........
  22. Hey! We are just about to head that way from the Maryville area, is is raining now? It is not raining here, but you never can tell. What does the weather man say? See ya there soon, Go Mountaineers and hope it is a safe game for all!!!
  23. Yes, Rebeljohn, you are absolutely right... and I am proud to be from Blount County, home of the Maryville Rebels. Also home of the Tornadoes, the Govs and teh Mountianeers. I do not ever slam any of our fine county teams, or say hurtful things about them. After all, these are our boys playing. I know kids on all four teams, and I support all four teams. I sincerely hope that Maryville wins another state championship. I know that HHS will not. Does that mean my team deserves any less respect? I think any adult would agree. Sorry if you took offense at my posts. The End. No more.
  24. No, Heritage has lost 4 (count 'em) 4 in a row. Or can you count? We are 1-5 for the year.
  25. Grad, I am sure he is not an Owl, because I have read a few of his other posts. But thanks anyway! I would like to say that I really appreciate all of the posts from fans of opposing teams. Almost without exception these folks are considerate, kind and friendly. The Maryville poeple, Wm Blount People, and the Soddy folks from last week are all fine folks. Looks like we do not slam each other and talk trash. I LIKE THAT! I am sure that we will be made to feel welcome tonight. But maybe..... Mountaineers by 7.
