Why as a 3rd year program would you choose to play up?? Why would any building program choose to build up. Big thing is I don't think overall record should be a tie breaker before strength of schedule. Everyone complained in the old plan about how teams scheduled easier opponents to get wins to guarantee playoff spots. Nothing really changed. Just shifting the problem.

Mid TN football you are wrong there. Stewarts Creek was classified 5A. Lavernge was 6A and chose to move down when Maryville requested to move up so. Stewarts Creek didn't choose to move down they playing where they were placed.

Yes they do but if it ends in a 4 way tie. LaVergne 4-3 6-4 Stewart's Creek 4-3 6-4 Shelbyville 4-3 7-3 then Lincoln Co. 4-3 7-3. First tiebreaker is head to head, no team beat all the other teams so that is out. Next tie breaker is best overall record. This is where the tougher schedule hurts Stewart's Creek and LaVergne. Shelbyville with 7 wins and Lincoln 7 wins would be ahead of SC and LaVergne. The head to head would go to Lincoln there so Lincoln 2 Shelbyville 3. The two 6-4 teams left SC and LaVergne the Wolverines hold head to head over SC so they get 4th. Stewarts Creek must win to guarantee a spot or they need Franklin Co. To beat Shelbyville or LaVergne to beat Indy if they do not.

From everything I got it looks like this for the district. If LaVergne wins they are 2 if Stewart's Creek wins as well they are 3 and Shelbyville win makes them 4th. Lincoln out. If LaVergne and Lincoln win then LaVergne is 2, Lincoln 3 and Stewart's Creek 4 no matter if Shelbyville wins because Stewart's Creek holds head to head tie breaker so Shelbyville out. If Lavernge loses and Stewart's Creek wins then Stewart's Creek 2, if Shelbyville wins then Shelbyville 3 and LaVergne 4 because Shelbyville has tiebreaker and Lincoln Co. Is out. If LaVergne loses and Stewart's Creek loses and Shelbyville wins then Lincoln 2 and Shelbyville 3 ( best overall record with 7 wins each and Lincoln beat Shelbyville head to head. Then LaVergne is 4 because the have head to head over Stewart's Creek so the Creek out. Basically for Stewart's Creek they need a LaVergne win or Shelbyville loss to guarantee them a spot in playoffs without winning. If they win they are in.

You right bobcatdefense it would be hard to get a job that there is no way in hades Coach would apply for. I am sure that Murfreesboro money and quality of school is just fine. Interested to see what the film shows as far as the sideline incident. Was alot of talking from both teams going on and things got chippy. Good win for the Creek time to put this one to bed and move on to a scrappy Summitt team next week. Good job Red Hawks

Red Hawks giving up 55?? They haven't given up that much to anyone!! Held Overton to 8 and Independence to 27 with 7 of that from an interception return for a TD. I know you can't compare scores but common opponent is Indy with Stewart's Creek losing 27-0 and Shelbyville losing 46-15. So should be a tight one down in Shelbyville this week.

Yes this is where playing a quality out of district schedule could hurt. I agree it penalizes teams with good strength of schedule. The best thing to do I guess is win your district games and then it won't matter.

Nrgrizzlies even with a win over Franklin Co. LaVergne has 2 losses like Stewart's Creek and still has to play Lincoln and Indy. Don't see them beating Indy which would give them 3 losses. As I see it Stewart's Creek has to win 2 of next 3 to be in as a 3-4 depending on how everyone else finishes. Because if you get a 3 way tie then head to head goes out the window. It becomes best overall record then head to head with two teams left I believe. So could be interesting bottom line for all teams left, the famous words of Al Davis Just win baby!!

Well with the Schedules like they are Stewart's Creek and Lincoln Co. Could very well be playing in week 10 for 2nd in the region. The Red Hawks need to beat Shelbyville this week and Summitt next week to make that dream a reality which is possible. They must play better than they did against Indy when they had 6 turnovers and 17 penalties in a 27-0 loss but With back to back big deficiet losses Shelbyville has struggled as well. Should be an interesting end to the season.

TGUN would call Lincoln Co. a lock just yet as they still have Columbia, Stewart's Creek and LaVergne left to play. The win over Shelbyville is big for them but we will find out the next few weeks how good Shelbyville really is as so far they have wins over (Lawarence Co. Who has 1 win, Tullahoma who has 0 wins, Giles Co. 1 win and Summitt 2 wins. The quality win was over an up and down LaVergne team. Not knocking them just saying their tuff part of the season began last week with Lincoln Co. The Falcons look like a playoff team at the moment but alot of football left in 5-5A should be some great games down the stretch

Stewart Creek will be in the playoffs with wind in 2 of their next 3 games I believe. They can actually finish 2nd and host a first round game by winning the next 3 games. Alot of football left to be played so things could change

As for Maryville the could run I, split back veer, which they have,andd win titles more than just the Offensive scheme they use that allows them to win. It just amazed me how people think you put a QB in the gun now all of a sudden you are more versitale.

Pepvol, just because you are spread doesn't mean you are versitale. Again will tell you many of the spread teams we play do not scare you throwing the football and are just spreading you to try and create running lanes. Look at the state champions last year and see the number of times each three the football compared to the number of times they ran in. Even Maryville is a run dominate team.

Runtheball you are correct. As a defensive coach I am going into Week 4 (4 different teams)and basically defending the same formations and sets of plays. The 4 teams we play call themselves spread but they are really just I teams. They run Power, counter, zone, trap, sweep. The advantage to the spread over the I is they have athletic QB to run read stuff off the plays. Everyone is in love with the spread right now but it kind of makes my job easier seeing it every week our kids get better at defending it by seeing it EVERY week.

Catfan68 won't dog you even though I don't agree with all your opinions at least you express them with some class. Here the deal contrary to what many believe you don't have to practice 7 hours a day or skirt rules to gain an advantage and win games. Coming up Ibcan remember sitting and talking to a well respected coach who has won 8 state titles and talked about practicing. He told me if you go over 2 and 1/2 hours you are wasting your time. By that time kids are zoned out and you are not accomplishing much. It is not about how long you practice, that is the broken record I have heard from many cat fans the last few years, but more so what you do in the time you got them.

Goodoleboy agree Oden doesn't play QB in college just a response that Posey is far and away better player. Honestly defending both last year never worried bout Posey beating us like I did Oden. That is the fact worried more about #9 for the Tigers last year. Great player. I didn't see Posey as the treat Oden was. Just being honest. Not a knock on the kid he is a good HS player as I have said many times. My opinion and you got yours so we can move on
