Baller100, I know you want to see the guys play Hoosiers basketball well maybe you need to watch Gene Hackman and Old Hickory play than any of the state games. The west tn teams usually try and maximize their ahletes and run transition offenses. The play pressure defense and that tends to make the play chaotic but if the game becomes chaotic it plays to their advantage. Mt. Pleasant had a good team but they could play Humboldt 10 times and I would bet they lose 9 out of 10 times. I had said all year the Vikings were the best Single A team I had seen all year and they proved it today by beating my Falcons. Oh yeah one last thing that Lady does not try to coach she Coaches and her record speaks for itself.

Thanks for the back up GURU. I agree it was a sloppy game but to me alot of that had to do with the effort each team played with and the physical play allowed on both ends by the officiating crew. I though it was a fun an exciting game to watch and even though my team came up short they played their hearrts out and Humboldt just proved to be the better team and they gutted out a win. Sad that people can't say great game between to good teams and leave it at that.

As for my UCbballwatcher, if that UC is for Union City I am sure you guys will make another region semifinal run next year cause that seems to be what the great coaching staff over there is good at here lately!!LOL

My honest assessment is this thread is a joke!! I would put Coach Barger up against any coach in this state I don't care what class. Single A game today was by far the best game played the other two were very 1 sided. As I said in another thread the lady has been a head coach for 3 years and has made the state tourney all 3 years and has a gold and silver ball along with a final 4 appearance and a 6-2 tournament record. This team wins a Silver ball and began the year with only 2 players with any meaningful varsity experience. Baller100, you need a little hateraide to go with these posts. The jealousy shows through in your posts. Let's talk about coaching, Coach Barger has been a head Coach for 3 years in that time she has been to 3 state tournaments, won a Gold and Silver Ball and finished in the final four the other time. Has a 3-0 record in Sub-State games, 2-1 in Region Championship games and 2-0 in District Tournament Title games. Oh yeah she is 6-2 in the state tournament. Took a team this year with only 2 players with any meaningful varsity experience the last 2 years and made them better all year. So say what you want but the proof is there. As far as West TN basketball, down us all you want but I do believe 5 of the 6 gold and silver balls are going back across the river to the West side of the state.

McEwenallumni, in the game they key will be for LC to keep Devon Jones out of foul trouble. Humboldt provides alot of mismatches with their length for the falcons. Need Devon on the glass helping board to have a shot. Also must play good defense and limit Turner(#10) open shot opportunities. Finally which has been the case all year for LC they must get some points from supporting cast Flowers, Taylor, Kimble or Johnson to take a little of the load off Jones and Coleman. LC won at Tiptonville in the regular season by playing good defense and frustrating Bradford in the 4th and overtime. Humboldt won the next 3 by dominating the boards getting out to big leads that LC could not overcome. Can't wait to see this finals match-up between District 14-A rivals.

ghettozero, You know nothing about the situation and how it went down at Lake Co but yet you call LC staff and administrators cheaters?? If you truly read the news stories on LC you would have known the TSSAA ruled that LC did NOTHING wrong in the situation. They followed protocol on the situation and were a victim of misinformation. The foriets resulted b/c kid was by rule ineligible. You leave out that another school, Trenton-Peabody, had 2 forfiet 2 games due to the same player. Heck the kid even played for Trenton in a game vs LC before Christmas. Nobody talks about them b/c they not a factor in the post-season. Coach B and the Lake Co. staff is as above board and honest as they come. Heck Tim Haney, Tim Allen and Peabody is as well. So you can try and spin it however you want but when you speak garbage like that you just discredit yourself in my book.

Frankie let me explain hot team to you since you do not seem to understand it. The Falcons have won elimination games at Greenfield, at McKenzie, and in Humboldt vs UC. Then on the road in Memphis vs. MAHS!! The Falcons have won both games in the boro, in OT by 1 or 21 doesn't matter they won to get here. In 3 Years Coach B and LC are 6-1 in Murfreesboro so I would call that hot. They have improved tremendously from early in the year so it is what it is. Humboldt has great talent and are very good but maybe little ole LC can find a way to pull the upset.

Lynnvegas you should be proud to be a Richland raider!! You guys had a fine team and the young men played their hearts out. sounds as if Richland and LC have alot in common with 60-70 kids graduating, LC has 260 kids in the school(9-12) and typical graduating classes of 55-65.

Well time for round 5 between the Vikings and the Falcons. This time for the Gold Ball!! The Vikes hold a 3-1 advantage over the season but LC is hot right now and looking for a little payback. Same song different verse, LC must play big on the glass and Devon must stay out of foul trouble to win it. Humboldt has been the best team in our district all year in my opinion and provide match-up issues for a smaller LC squad. Can LC get it done against the favored Vikes on the big stage. Who knows but should be another District 14-A classic!! see ya tomorrow at 4 pm West TN!!

Baller100, I know it was a tough loss and just so you know LC was punished for the ineligible player, really to harsh in my opinion if you knew the circumstances around it. Will post all the situation on here but will say the TSSAA told LC and Trenton-Peabody, who also was punished and had to forfiet games, that they followed all the protocol and did NOTHING wrong in the situation. Just had been given some wrong information. Bottomline is the falcons have over come much adversity and are playing their best ball at the right time. As for the game a great game between 2 good teams. Now it is time for a District 14-A title tilt.

Nice post biggest! Thanks for the props for LC as well. Watertown fans were very gracious as well when the game was over, the ones I talked with were very fine folks. As I said it was a great game between 2 very good teams that needed an overtime to produce a winner. Both teams played their hearts out and put on a show for the crowd. Now I hope my Falcons are focused and ready 4 tommorrow

Been out of the loop and things get intertesting on here!! LOL Was a great game played between 2 good teams.LC stayed to their MO in that they get behind early keep battling and find a way to win in the end. Trailed UC by 11 in the region semi, trailed MAHS 7-0 out the gate in the substate game then fell behind early yesterday. What the falcon's record, or anything else cannot measure or tell you about this team is the heart they play with. As for the record 2 losses to Dyer Co. still in AAA tourney, 3 losses to Humboldt, still in Single A tourney, 1 to TCA, single A substate, 2 to Union City ranked in top 10 all year in Single A. Also had to forfiet 4 games won 6 total but 2 were losses anyway Humboldt and Dyer Co. This team has just came together and are well right now.

Y8s, Humboldt and Lake CO. are staying in the same hotel. We were the last 2 teams drawn and so ended up at the same spot. As far as rooms, that is all straightened out now and just a mix up on the Days Inn end from what I was told. As far as the record,I will explain one more time, LC had some tuff losses early this year as they were an inexperienced team. The falcons had lost 6 of their top 8 players from the last 2 tournament teams to graduation last year. Only Zay and Devon played any meaningful minutes the last 2 years. Had some struggles with players, dismissing some due to grades and then some missed games for other reasons. Had to forfiet 4 wins due to an ineligible player situation BUT these guys came together at the end of the year and are playing good ball right now. Young guys stepping up and the veterns, Zay and Devon, playing big. Hope they continue to get better and make a good showing tomorrow evening.

I am with you then, LC looked bad that night. I am sure we didn't leave much of an impression. Humboldt got a big win that night as well.

McEwenAlumni, never said Lake Co. was getting disrespected. I said we are 8-23 I am sure that doesn't strike fear into any team we play. This team is definitely not as talented as the teams of the last 2 years but they play with tremendous heart and will get after you for the entire game. I was just responding to the sarcastic post you left for my boy bigster. He asked a simple question but you could not give a simple answer. He was just wondering when you saw LC play. It may have been a night that they had 4 starters out, like over Christmas break vs JCS and TCA, or could have been in the District or region tournament when they were at full strength. Who knows you may have drove to Memphis to watch them play in sub-state. Was just curious about when you saw them play but instead of a straight answer we get a blah, blah ,blah. Oh well sorry to ruffle your feathers.

My dad always told me opinions were like ______ everyone has one and most of them stink!!LOL Just had to throw that in there cause I always get a kick out of the "so-called" expects that "know" alot. I know our poor ole Lake County team is not very good, heck we are just 8-23, can't be good if you only win 8 games.

Guess all the women should stay quiet and ride in the backseat of the car as well??LOL I was opposite on The Coach Summitt thing I was hoping she would take over the men's program. Heck I think she would have done well. Anyway, It is a philosophical issue I see so we will just agree to disagree. Mr. TSSAA I don't see Watertown playing zone and packing it in, I keep hearing they are a man to man team that likes to play uptempo and press some. That excites me about our match-up with them. Lake Co. is not a great 3 point shooting team BUT has had some players make some key jumpers in big games. In the substate win Dominique Kimble knocked down 4 big 3-pointers and Zay hit 2 big 3's in OT. So even though they don't shoot it great they do have the capability to get it done. I do think you gave a good unbiased assessment of LC but I hope you are wrong on the outcome and my Falcons continue on!!

Topper would also like to say this is in reference to your class A comments, Yeah this is class A and ALOT of people care that is why they will be more fans and community support for the class A games than many of the others in AA or AAA but hey if you don't care feel free to not post in the Single A threads anymore.

Topper06, why you have a problem with a woman coaching boys basketball? If a person can coach they can coach, bottomline. No one seems to have a problem with men coaching women's basketball. Or most people don't have a problem with women being teachers and teaching both boys and girls. So would love to hear the reason you feel a woman should not coach a boy's team.

Sorry GURU, but you saying BTW was the 4th best team at the tourney last year shows everyone else to not put any stock in anything you say. 4th best really?? A Div. I signee, Newby, who won Mr. Basketball not to mention arguably the best freshman in the state in Kahlil Spencer. Bottom line is the best two teams last year matched up in the 1st round in a classic overtime game! The falcons came out flat the next night and the Vikings played like it was a state championship game and pulled out the win. The Vikings must have been satisfied because they played terrible the next night and basically gave the gold ball away with poor shooting and play but past is the past. I do agree with you that this thread should be closed because there is ALOT of basketball to be played and all teams there are capable of winning.

Y8s, you better not give Coach B room she will drill that jumper in a second!! Still has some range I hear. No so far (knock on wood) no one else picked up the flu bug in the house!! Hope to see alot of LC fans swing by the gym today and show our boys how proud we are of them and give a little to the cause!!
