  1. It was a very good game until the end of the third quarter when kingston scored two fairly quick toudowns. Harriman fought hard but wasted way to many opportunities. Guys Kingston will be lucky to win one region game this year.
  2. If you don't have the facilities you should not be allowed to host. That should go for football and basketball. I have taken long drives to watch Harriman play ball only to end up at a sorry gym that seats 300-500 and those were gone 2 hours before game time. I have been to football playoff games where the home sides were aluminum roll around bleachers, visitors side was the beds of pickups, and the cow pasture errr "field" had a rope around it, or there is no room and people stand on the field seen that twice. In all seriousness, I really worry about safety in some of these very old gyms. If a fire was to start in one and the way we cram ourselves into these places it could be tragic. They need to find a neutral court if they can if not rotate between the schools that can handle it and divide the money between all. Roane State would a good place to have it at, but Harriman's gym is quite a bit larger if I am not mistaken. I would expect them to take a look at these old gyms the way they did some of the old football fields and see them condemned.
  3. Wartburg couldn't handle Harriman's speed. Alcoa has a whole lot more of it than the Devil's do. Alcoa 56 Wartburg 0 Oh yeah that is the score at halftime. final 63-14.
  4. I would like to know what the record is of region 1 vs region 2. I think it is very lopsided. Usually the 4 team out of region 2 whips the 1 team out of region 1.
  5. I don't know how much better Wartburg is than anybody else, considering that Harriman beat them pretty good 18-0. Who has Wartburg beat oh yeah Sunbright, Oakdale and Oliver Springs, Go on ahead and scare the heck out of everybody with those wins.
  6. Congrats to Coalfield on the win, they played a pretty good ball game. Harriman really looked tired, emotionally and physically. The QB couldn't throw, receivers couldn't catch, and the running backs couldn't find the hole to run through if they were about to fall in it. Too many missed tackles, busted coverages and penalties they must have had 10 flags in first half most of them were very beneficial to coalfield in the early going; negating good plays for the devils and marching the ball downfield for the Jackets. What was up with the all the flags on punts Harriman had to punt over and over until they got a result that was beneficial to Coalfield. Coalfield has a good team and will do well until the playoffs. One other thing in closing about speed, there was nobody on that field that runs 4.4 in the 40 I don't care what anyone says.
  7. I think Harriman will win this one just on a gut feeling 28-24. I find it hard to believe that Coalfiled will be any bigger, faster or more physical than Kingston or Sequoyah. They held Sequoyah to 7 points through 3 1/2 quarters even with one of the best wide outs in the state and Kingston really struggled to move the ball at all against them. It should be a very exciting game but I would not be surprised to see it be a Low scoring defensive battle
  8. I liked it better the way that it used to be with three classes. I played at Harriman in a region composed of Harriman, Kingston, Rockwood, Loudon, Lenoir City, Anderson County and Scott County. Maryville and a lot of other schools 2A. The only problem I would have is private schools would have to be 3A, Brentwood Academy dominated AA.
  9. Endzones, Wartburg has traditionally had one of the worst programs in the area. Many, many 1 and 2 win seasons even in A ball, they get a team that wins 4 games it is the best team in thirty years. Other than the last 3 years they have always been at the bottom of the region.
  10. It is time for the bulldogs to take their rightful place at the bottom of the region where they had been for so many years. Was last year the best team Wartburg ever had? How many games did they win? Didn't Harriman put up like 80 something points on the Burg 4or 5 years ago. How quickly they forget, Harriman 35 Wartburg 7.
  11. They should be very competitive in all of their games this year, in fact the only team that should spank them would be Alcoa. How do the Chiefs compare with AA teams. They looked to have good size and speed a great wide receiver and plenty of depth and I don't think they are a bad football team. Why didn't number 3 touch the ball 20-25 times. They should run reverses and line him up in the backfield quite a bit.
  12. Great game despite some really questionable calls towards the end. Harriman led 20 to 7 with 4:42 left, but the Chiefs would not quit they were backed up on their own 4 yard line when they hit the big wide out with a 96 yard bomb. If was aided by an obvious offensive pass interference no call, he was penalized 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct for diving into the end zone from the 5, PAT partially blocked. The Chiefs took over and were aided by a few penalty flags to score with 11 seconds left PAT wide right. All in all it was a great hard fought game. Harriman looked really good on defense with the exception of a couple of plays, the offense took a while to get going but overall was pretty good. I am very anxious to see what the skill positions look like on dry field. Great game by both teams it is a shame someone had to lose.
  13. I am going to take Harriman in an upset 21-17
  14. Has anyone seen any of their scrimmages, how do they look?
  15. I drove by Harriman on Sunday and the new facilities looked great and almost complete. The home side and visitors side looks much larger than the old bleachers. I think it is safe to say they will be some of the largest and nicest in A ball next year.
