  1. Farragut should beat Soddy with no problem......just realize Farragut you are playing Soddy and the 5 refs so be prepared for several key plays to be influenced by a flag. I just hope you have a better crew then the one McMinn had......it was so obvious even the chain crew (which is normally supporters of the home teams football program) said this crew is awful!

    Kickers?

I suppose I need to mention Stephen Stansell the 2008 Pre-Season first team All-State selection from McMinn County.....he is 7/9 on FG this year with makes from 49 & 51. Just ask the coaches from William Blount about #16 if you dont believe me as Stephen made two from 57 yds. in pre-game. I should also mention that Stephen is a finalist in the National Finals of the kicking.com combine that will be held January 3-4 in Houston,TX. He won the sectional combine in Nashville then won the regional combine in Atlanta to advance to the finals. The combine is a combination of punting, kick off & field goals with each kick / punt recieving a certain point value. He can kick it deep, high, low......and the best thing is that all of his field goals and extra points are off of the ground which is a huge bonus. NO block for this player!!
  3. With the future being what it is I would say it would be safe to say that McMinn will not be over looking any team. It is homecoming @ McMinn and there will be plenty of distractions but when Thursday evening rolls around the skirts come down and the helmets go on and the cherokees will get the job done. McMinn rolls in this one..... McMinn 42 Heritage 10 GO TRIBE!!!
  4. Good road win for the Cherokees......good officiating crew and especially the "white hat" he took charge of the game and nipped the mouthing off quickly.
  5. This is in fact a "must win" game for the Cherokees. They win and they take another step toward reaching the TSSAA playoffs.....but if they happen to lose then they will be at home again during the playoffs and are looking at a 5-5 season. Do the cherokees come ready to play tonight? Tribefans Take: Fact- William Blount is alot better team then 0-7 Fact- McMinn is alot better then there 3-4 record Fact- both teams need a win (but for different reasons) Fact- It is finally football weather The team with the fewest mistakes and most points will win this one! GO TRIBE!!!!
  6. It does appear that the GOVS are improving and I would suppose the future looks good for your program if you are playing that many young players. I do hope the officiating is better then the screwin we got at Soddy Daisy last week.....two punt returns called back in the first half and one no call on a long pass play and that is not to mention the SD player stepping a foot OB and the official saying he was blocked out by the chain gang. Who holds the officials accountable? I realize they have an assesment but with the $$ that is invested in high school athletics there needs to be consequences if you dont use proper mechanics or are out of position or continue to make poor calls.
  7. The weather could play a factor as there is a 40% chance of rain? That could limit the passing game for the cherokees if it gets bad...... What is the deal with the Govs this season? How do they go from winning to not winning so fast? They had a very good football program for several years. Is it because of the departure of Meadows?
  8. McMinn just needs to win baby win and things will take care of themselves......
  9. FACT- SD will have there butt handed to them when they play Ooltewah and Farragut *Much like they have to the rest of us.....
  10. It depends on which McMinn shows up againist WB? The one that took the field againist Cleveland & Soddy Daisy or the one that took the field againist Rhea County & OR. McMinn hopefully will have there starting MLB back for this game as he got hurt in the second half of the OR game. The GOVS are really struggling this year and the TRIBE needs this one to control there future when it comes to the post season. McMinn 24 William Blount 10 GO TRIBE!!!!
  11. This was a good win for SD againist a McMinn team that I thought had turned the corner and was playing much improved football. Fact- McMinn tackled poorley Fact- SD made plays when they had to Fact- McMinn played like they did againist Cleveland (were in position to make plays but didnt) Fact- SD is a bit better then I thought but still are not in the same league as Ooltewah & Farragut Maybe the worst officiating call I have seen in my 24 years of watching high school football when the SD player stepped out of bounds and went on to score and the side ref. did not make the call. He told coach Cagle that the chain gang blocked his view. Even the guy holding the down marker said he was a good foot out of bounds not to mention our team chaplin, principal & AD were all standing there and said he was defently OB. It seemed every time McMinn made a big play the stripes through there flag, this is not the resaon McMinn lost but it is a shame an official can't be in the proper position to make a call especially at a critical time in the game. Good win SD and nice job with the new field......the visitor stands are to low but they are a lot better then what you had last time I was down there. By the way what is the deal with having to walk a country mile to the dressing room? I would have thought by now you guys would have a field house closer to the field for both teams to utilize.
  12. Thanks for supporting my argument with your post......You are correct good stats but againist teams that are not that good.....there is a difference. How is the field at SD? The last time I was down there it was covered in about a foot of mud and poo!!! No doubt the worst playing conditions I have ever seen.......please tell me they blew that field up and started over? McMinn 31 SD 28 GO TRIBE!!!!
  13. Sure I know a bit about politics and I also have been around the game of football long enough to know that trends and stats play a major role in breaking down your opponent. I agree any team can be beat on any given night..... Barack Osama Obama concerns me because of his liberial track record and his association with his former minister and some other persons. Oh well good luck tonight...... GO TRIBE!!!!
  14. Fact- Soddy always looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane Fact- Common opponent does matter Fact- Soddy Daisy lost to Rhea County / McMinn beat Rhea County Combined Won / loss record againist Region 2 5A teams: McMinn 8-1 / Soddy Daisy 0-9 I will take the Palin comment as a compliment.....atleast our side doesnt have a history of associating with radical thinking college professors. Should be a good high school game with the team that limits there mistakes as the team that will win this one. A tax payer voting for Obama is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders!! GO TRIBE!!!!
  15. I wasnt the the one who said Soddy Daisy has the advantage in special teams......as far as a team not kicking to Haney he better stretch his neck muscles before the game Friday night because all he will be doing when McMinn kicks to him is watching the ball sail over his head. By the way who has SD beat that has a winning record besides Red Bank 4-2 and Hixson 4-2? Point being SD has not played the schedule that McMinn has .....at one point McMinn had played 5 games and 4 of them were ranked in the top 8 in either 5A or 4A. The combined wins / losses for teams that McMinn has played is 25-10.....the combined record for teams that SD has played is 16-20. The only common game is againist Rhea Co. where McMinn won 49-32 and SD lost 20-21. Again soddydaisy48football go do your homework......
  16. Hey I do....actually all 5 of them are McMinn graduates you know sorda like what you get when you go to Blount Co. to play a game>>>>>the refs seem to be either school board members or graduates of one of the local high schools.
  17. Great win for the cherokees!! Tribefan says kicking would be the difference and Stansell makes a 52 yarder and the TRIBE wins by 3.... For the life of me I cant figure out why OR flip flops on the quarterbacks.....#7 did a much better job of running there offense.....I mean you replace him in the next series after OR marched it down McMinns throat and put #11 in......what the heck??? Anyway great win Cherokees keep up the good work.... GO TRIBE!!!
  18. Tribefan's Take: McMinn must be able to run the ball McMinn recievers have to shake the man coverage they will be faced with McMinn defense must take some changes Oak Ridge must control the lines of scrimmage Oak Ridge must play the full 48 minutes Oak Ridge must play like the champions they are McMinn gets the advantage in the kicking game Oak Ridge has the size McMinn is better at the skilled positions Oak Ridge has more depth Both teams have been plagued with the turnover bug....... McMinn 24 Oak Ridge 21
  19. Hopefully McMinn gets there act together this week and limits there mistakes and turnovers. Good luck cherokees
  20. As usual McMinn gets no respect and maybe we shouldnt after last week......but the cherokees will come to play and Cleveland will know that they played a good football team when the final second ticks off of the clock. GO TRIBE!!!!
  21. Dont believe him he wished us good luck last week and look what happened. The weather could play a major roll in this game......come prepared GO TRIBE!!
  22. Cleveland has alot of speed as usual and also has a tremendous amount of experience in the key positions. Again I say if McMinn can slow down the blitz and hit the quick passes then they will be in a position to put points on the board. Limit the mistakes, make plays when they present themselves and the cherokees will show that they are a quality team but if they continue to make the correctable mistakes and dont make plays when they have a chance then it will be difficult to beat a good Cleveland team. I look for Bo and his staff to have the cherokees ready to play mentally and come out with a game plan that takes some of the pressure of off Cy and lets his ability to throw the ball takeover. The cherokkees need this win in a bad way. Good weather plus a long time rival equals a good high school football game..... GO TRIBE!!!!
  23. This is a critical game for McMinn because of the schedule they play. They have 5A #1 ranked Farragut next week on the road then back home againist a good Rhea Co. team and then Oak Ridge visits Athens then back on the road to play an apparently much improved Soddy Daisy team. I dont like to say this is a must win game but I am concerned that if McMinn losses this one that it doesnt get any easier from here. If McMinn can win this one then it gives them a little mo going into the Farragut game. This is why I think McMinn will win this one because all of a sudden there back is up againist the wall and they will play with a sence of urgency. McMinn 24 Cleveland 17 GO TRIBE!!!
  24. You will see #6 Simpson on the field everywhere from SS to WR.....of course #10 Ables has the potential to be as good as he wants but the O line must give him some time to throw it. #24 Smith is a good one to count on when you need a catch made. Dont be surprised to see Ables move a bit more out of the pocket instead of being a stationary target like he was last week.....you know Cleveland saw what Ooltewah did and maybe they dont have #36 but I am sure they have some good quick athletes that can pressure the pass.
