    Rankings

Just curious who assigns these rankings to the girls soccer teams?
  2. Come on guys....for the most part the student athletes playing at the NCAA are better then the student athletes playing at the NAIA level. They either didn't have the grades or their talent level isn't up to the level of the NCAA Div I players or they would have been playing for a NCAA school. Now there are occasions were a player wants to go to a smaller school and that happens to be a NAIA school. Of course the top NAIA teams can play with and beat the lower level NCAA Div I schools but if the top NAIA school played the top NCAA Div I school my opinion is the NCAA school would win. Better athletes, better facilities, more funding, more quality players. Your argument does hold water.
  3. My point is while 4 National Championships is impressive it was at the NAIA level not NCAA. But a National Championship at any level is something to be proud of. I suppose time will tell how LEE does in the NCAA. My other point with the ND keeper was that yes she is talented and does have a huge leg....hope she has a good career at LEE.
  4. LEE does have a quality program.....those National Championships were at the NAIA level.
  5. McMinns starting keeper (Liner) didn't play against Notre Dame nor will she play against Ooltewah because of a concussion she received in practice on Monday. I was impressed with the big leg that the GK from Notre Dame has but her technical skills and management of the game needs some work. She seemed stunned when McMinn found the back of the net, I guess she not accustomed to being scored on? Regardless ND is a talented team.
  6. Funny you should ask Boyfromsi. McMinn is extremely young. At any given time they will have 6-7 underclassman on the field. Plus they have had a issue with holding onto the football. They are 7 points away from being 2-2 so its not that we are awful we just have no experience plus we have played McCallie and Alcoa that are better than most teams. McMinn has a quality tailback in Kimpson that is avg. 153 per game and a freshman Bradley that has shown glimpses of his quickness. Our QB is doing all the can but his receivers aren't doing him any favors by not catching several well thrown balls. This game will be a huge challenge for McMinn but in typical Cherokee fashion they will play hard, hit hard and give it their best. I am just not sure it will be good enough to beat a talented OR team.
  7. McMinn County is solid. Probably the strongest back line that you will see this year. Plus the GK has a good nose for the ball....especially when it comes to PK's. She made two awesome saves last night against East Hamilton. They get a little sloppy at times with their passing. But when adversity strikes they seem to answer the bell. They seem to start slow but finish strong.
  8. Good win for McMinn.....could have been worse but McMinn called the dogs off after going up 3-0. Baylor is down this year but they are still Baylor.
  9. After speaking with my sources inside the program @ McMinn this team may be coach Cagles biggest challenge since arriving at McMinn as the head coach. They are inexperienced and lets see how do you say this....maybe not the most gifted intellectually bunch that have worn the black and gold when it comes to football. If Central is going to break the 26 year losing streak this is their best opportunity. And it is going to be HOT tonight at kickoff. Presently in Athens its 95 with a heat index of 102.....to darn hot to be playing football!
  10. This annual cross county game has been dominated by the Cherokees (McMinn) over the years with the Chargers (Central) last winning in Etowah in 1988. The Cherokees bring a young team into this years contest with several talented but unproven play makers. The Chargers have two quality ball carriers that could make it difficult on defenses. The one variable is Cherokee QB Corbin Powers....he is mobile and proved last year he is able to throw the ball vertical while on the run. I believe emotions will be running hot with this being the first game and the game time temp predicated to be in the mid 90's.... McMinn County 24 McMinn Central 17 GO TRIBE!!!
  11. McMinn was young last year as well and won the District Championship.....BTW they beat Cleveland for that title. See ya on the pitch.
  12. I was referring to McMinn County not McMinn Central there genius....
  13. McMinn returns 9 starters from last years District championship team. From what I hear from the "soccer people" in Athens this team has all of the parts to be considered a serious contender for a state championship. One parent told me 5 players have already committed to play college soccer. Their goal keeper who was a 1st Team All District & All Region hasnt committed yet. It should be an interesting season this year @ McMinn....see you on the pitch!
  14. McMinn beats Tyner 28-0....not quite sure how good Tyner is??????????????
  15. New scoreboard at CHEROKEE Stadium this year with a video board and new play clocks in each end zone. We may not win state championships but we have a nice stadium.
  16. This version of the Cherokees has improved since week #4. They are not the most talented bunch you will play but you will know you have been in a battle at the end of the game. I don't know if McMinn has the weapons this year to beat a quality Ooltewah team but I suppose time will tell. Go Tribe!
  17. Is this thread suppose to be about your opinion of Ooltewah football or about the Ooltewah / McMinn game this week? Geez that novel that you posted had nothing to do with this weeks game.
  18. That was a tough loss for the lady Cherokees. Not sure how many but we had a lot of opportunities to score and never could then Warren Co. gets a cheap goal on that kick from the corner. I was looking forward to another PK session to decide the winner. They have a good foundation to build on for next year.
  19. From what I have read they have a player named Morgan McCormick with 27 goals and Ansley Mullican with 35 goals. I don't know much about soccer but that's sounds like a lot. We plan on bringing our family again tonight. Our 10 year old really enjoyed the Cleveland game and how cool the McMinn keeper was when she stopped those shots. I figured that has to be mostly luck because the kicker is so close to the goal....how do you not make it? Oh well if nothing else we have been converted into soccer fans. Does Athens have a youth league for kids who are just beginning?
  20. I just drove by the McMinn Soccer Complex and they were unloading additional bleachers.
  21. I like the detailed response.....hope you are correct. Did they really bring in some extra bleachers? I hope so because i had to stand up last game because i didnt get there early enough. The only open space was at the end.
  22. So AAASoccer in your opinion who wins this one and why?
