  1. I hated to see this happen to Gallatin, after fighting to win a lot of games this year. I think as Executive Director, Mr. Carter has a lot of leeway in his investigation of this type of matter. I am not an attorney, nor do I play one on TV, but I believe, as with almost any civil matter, the statute of limitations would be one year.
  2. Antwan - Two penalties, that's what good hard football is all about. I didn't keep count either, but Friday should be a good game.
  3. I may be off as well, but it looks like 11 unique votes for Smith County and 8 unique votes for P-town. Queenie, I don't think I'll try your burgers, I'm afraid you're the one who will have the tears and runny nose flowing.
  4. You don't count very well. I just went through every post, through yours, and I count 11 votes for SC from different posters and 4 for P-town. My post was after yours so that makes it 5 for P-town. I will post a final when I get through the rest of the posts.
  5. You must be a Smith County grad....... "so that does not mean nothing"
  6. I seem to recall a lot of the same comments before we met in the final game of the regular season. Y'all have been watching different games than I have. I seem to recall #77 being ejected for hitting a player after the whistle, because he was clipped after the whistle and out of bounds.......and #22 being ejected for hitting a safety after the safety hit him after the whistle. It still holds true, the officials see the retaliatory strike, seldom the first. We have had some of the worst officiating this year that I have ever seen from TSSAA at this level. I used to officiate, so I know the rules, and we have had some sorry officials, mostly at home, but we fought some bad calls at Walker Valley last week, and will probably get more this week in Carthage. I agree our players will have to play a good game without mistakes to beat Smith County again, and in their house that will be tough to do, but I believe they can do it and will.
  7. I am sorry, I haven't seen this post before, but I have to chime in on this with Panther Pride and bsp2e. Portland has had some of the worst officiating this season that I have ever seen in TSSAA football. The two ejections were unfortunate, but the circumstances surrounding them were never mentioned. The first ejection, against Macon County, came after a MC player, clipped one of our players, out of bounds and after the whistle blew. Our player turned and went after the guy who hit him, and was ejected. The officials always see the retaliation, never the attack that caused it. The player from MC should have been flagged at least, if not ejected, but nothing was done. In the Trousdale County game, it was very similar, the whistle blew and a safety or defensive back shoved one of our backs (it was on the safety play, I believe). When our man shoved him back he was ejected, despite having less than one minute on the clock. As for the discipline from the coach. He did not even appeal the second ejection, to teach the players that he would not put up with that type of play.
  8. Let's look at our common competition thus far: Portland 21 Macon Co. 7 LA 9 Macon Co. 16 Portland 16 Trousdale Co. 21 LA 19 Trousdale Co. 22 Portland 23 York 21 LA 40 York 8 Portland 38 Jackson Co. 0 LA 44 Jackson Co. 21 Portland 23 Cannon Co. 0 LA 41 Cannon Co. 6 Portland was outcoached by Trousdale County in the first half, came back in the second and would have won, but fumbled on about the 15 yard line. We were flat against Cannon Co. because of the loss the week before to TC, I guess. Our bus ride to York was over 3 hours, LA played them at home and it wasn't a long trip for York either. Since I haven't watched LA play, I don't know if the Cannon County and Jackson County points came late, against LA's 2nd or 3rd defense, but neither one scored on our 1st, 2nd or 3rd defense, and while we didn't roll up the points on Cannon Co. we showed we could against Jackson Co. and Upperman. LA has a good team, not trying to take away from that, but they are coming to our house, and it's like visiting the Coliseum in Nashville, the crowd will get into the game. The game may be higher scoring than I predicted earlier, but Portland still takes it.
  9. Livingston Academy is playing well now, and they do have a couple of strong weapons. But Portland is playing for pride this year. We had an off season last year and this year started off rough, but I think our guys will be fired up for LA. Coach Perry has been in this position before and he will have his men ready. Portland 28 - Livingston Academy 24.
  10. And please, we do prefer P-town. Woo -woo.
  11. I agree with the posts in this series. Portland will have to play ball against Livingston to come away with a win. Hopefully, Coach Perry will have them ready and with this being homecoming, the crowd could and should be a factor. Livingston definitely has some people to watch, I hope we can keep an eye on all of them at once. Our defense has been playing very well, although I think we relaxed against York too soon. We were up 20 - 7 and let them drive down for a touchdown, then fumbled on first play from scrimmage after kickoff, on about the 40, didn't take them long to march it in again. Pritchard's toe saved us that night. We've lost two because of untimely fumbles, it was like "deja' vu". Portland 23 Livingston 14
  12. I have been reading most, but not all of the posts, and the way I see it is this: Macon has to win out, their only real competition is York and after this past weekend that shouldn't be a problem. They will smother Cannon County. Portland has two real tests left, Livingston Academy this week and Smith County October 31. Portland had better play ball against both of them or they will hand Macon County the Region championship. The worst Macon County can do is 2nd in Region and that is just if Portland wins out. If anyone beats Portland, Macon County wins Region. Macon County has improved a lot since week two, but so has Portland, since week three. We made two fumbles that cost us the two games we have lost. We weren't outplayed against Trousdale County, we were outcoached. TC's coach was working the clock the entire game and calling plays from the sidelines to work against the defense Portland set. It was 2nd half before we even got into the game, and would have won except for a fumble on TC's 15 yard line or so, followed up by a touchdown the other way.
  13. I realize this is coming in much later in the season than the other posts, but right now, we are in control of our own destiny. We have Livingston Academy this Friday, DeKalb County next week and Smith County in the final week. While Smith County may be the toughest team we still have to face in the regular season, we certainly cannot overlook Livingston Academy. We have some players that have really stepped up big this year, and some freshmen coming up that will add to our depth and speed next year. Quarterback Kasey Allen is having a standout year, as are running backs Hartley, Sadler and Humphrey. Defensively we have been strong with Chris England, Michael Garrett and Justin Summar leading the way. Keep it going Panthers and win the last three, we've travelled enough, let's stay home for the playoffs.
  14. Greenbrier and Page both have a lot to be proud of with this season. Hopefully, they will both be ready and it will provide a great night of football. Greenbrier does have the weapons to beat anyone, they just have to use them at the right time. I would have to give the edge to Page because they are home, but don't count the Bobcats out. They will fight and scratch to get the W. As for luck, all you can do is hope it goes your way, if the luck is good and not bad, be thankful. Portland has lost two games this year and fumbled in the last 4 minutes of both of them. Those turnovers, taken away, could mean an undefeated season, but we are still in the hunt for the region 4 3A title. Our guys have played well, and have nothing to be ashamed of. Good luck Greenbrier. With fingers crossed, Greenbrier by 3, (20 - 17).
