  1. RCombs.. I've heard about that place but I can never make myself go to somewhere else other than the Country and Western. When I go there I see lots of good folks from Carroll County and the fish is always good. RedGrange.. not apologizing to Advisor. Just saying I know what I'm talking about when it comes to Mustang football. Now I can't speak for anyone else or defend what some say but I try to be correct and give some insight to this board. (Even though I have been known to go off on a rant or two). Looks to be a wet track but I think all the Mustangs are ready even though some are "under the weather". I wish it were dry but that's what football is all about. Someone save me and "Tiny" 3 seats...
  2. Advisor.. Please don't let some young poster get to you. Huntingdon is proud of our past record in football and for you to say that many schools aren't as old as Huntingdon is poor. What about Camden, McKenzie, Lexington, Milan, Humboldt, Union City, Dresden, Bolivar, Waverly. Greenfield, Gleason, Northside, Southside, Hardin County, Trenton. Need more.. I got em... In 1930 we played Milan, Lexington, McKenzie, McEwen, Gleason, Trenton and Bruceton.. they're still playing too. We've got a player on this year's squad whose great grandfather played for Huntingdon on the 1915 team.. We're proud of our past but we're only as good as our next game. Yeah, I'm a "homer". Why wouldn't wouldn't I be? Aren't you proud of your school? Just curious but who do you pull for? Why would you make the statement that " most all Carroll County wants to live in the history of year's gone by"? What's up with that? Heck man, Camden was good last year and they kicked our butts. We can take it. Again don't let em get to you.. We know we're in for a tough game so come on over to Camden and we'll save you a seat with the "Pigskin Pals".. We're a group of fans that enjoy watching the Mustangs play and you'd be more than welcome. Honest.. Just don't get me mixed up with someone who doesn't know what they are posting about. Please.. Thanks....
  3. Advisor.. Easy there fellow. SweetDKDaddy is not a Huntingdon fan and is new on here. By your comments I guess you're not very old to know of Huntingdon. Huntingdon has had success for a long time not just in 2003 and 2004. Huntingdon has a record of 52-12 against Camden over the years and now Camden has a 3 game winning streak against us. Think about that. HHS had played Camden 61 times and they only managed 9 wins during that time before the current 3 game streak... We have an all time winning record of of 563-274. That puts us at # 12 in the state in all time wins. Not to shabby when you go online and look at our competition. Now Camden has a very good team this year and and they are at the point where they are to be reckoned with each year. But really and I think most knowledgeable Camden fans would agree that this is the best (last 3 yrs) they have been since the 1965 team with Woodard, Sturdivant and Dulin. Before the current classification I thought Camden would make it to the title game in a few years but now playing in 3-AAA is gonna make it tough for them. So get the facts before you rebute someone. Huntingdon knows they have a tough game Friday night and with several starters out this week with the flu it may take it's toll...
  4. Camden fans... I apologize for the Mustang zealots bragging. Most knowledgeable Mustang fans know what we're up against this Friday. Seems like Kevin Ward has the Lions headed in the right direction. I look for a tight high scoring game but I've but I've been wrong before. Tell Mr. Kee to save me a chair in the endzone...
  5. Again special thanks goes out to "Tiny" for getting the copter again and drying off the field. It's fans like him that make Mustang football something special. Don't know why he didn't wait till around 6:30 because it will probably rain again. Hope his boss doesn't find out about this. That was impressive dropping off former Mustang great and All-American Larry Stewart before the Milan game.
  6. Does Adamsville still have the good LB and QB? I can't remember if they graduated or not but both were fine players. The LB they had should have been all-state if anybody was. I had my doubts on his stats when they played us (Huntingdon) a couple of years ago but he was a one man wrecking crew. He wasn't that big but could find the ball and tackle. Good Luck Cardinals.
  7. hoofbeat.. We never played Atwood but were undefeated against Trezevant.. You can go to http://www.hsfdatabase.com. You can browse around and see all our records against our opponents. That website is awesome.
  8. I know that Atwood and Trezevant consolidated to form West Carroll but when did this happen? What is WC's all time record. I remember they struggled for a few years but have had several good teams in the past... Any help/comments would be appreciated.. Thanks
  9. Congratulations Adamsville Cardinals from Huntingdon..
  10. In the higher levels (college and pro) I think the face mask penalty has been changed to all face masks are personal fouls witch means 15 yards and automatic 1st down. No more incidental calls. After last night I am assuming high school still has the incidental rule. Another call I did not understand was the horse-collar tackle on the fullback going into the end zone. My thought was that was a personal foul also. Huntingdon declined the penalty, which the had to do to get the TD. However, if it was a personal foul it would have been enforceable on the kickoff. The kids on the field reall played their rear ends off. The Huntingdon trainer really made her paycheck last night. UC has some really big fast players. #'s 56, 27, 28, 12, 4 stood out to me. I really don't know what #53 was thinking trying to advance H's last kickoff to UC. He must be really fast for a coach to put him in the second line to receive a kick off. He got a good pop for his effort though. Speaking of kick offs. Huntingdon had a good strategy last night. Kick it hard on the ground and AWAY from 27 and 28. Second half kick offs were great with the bobbles. UC's kick off strategy---boom it high and deep. When it comes out of the clouds it will be wet, slippery, and hard to handle. Mr. Mustang will you head up the "Send Swenson to Spain for a Kicker" fund. I've got the first $5. That will at least get him to Clarksburg. "Tiny"... I'll give Swenson the next $5.. That will get him to Parker's Crossroads. I bet the Mustangs work on tackling this week. You can't hit Price high and expect to bring him down
  11. Great game. UC has some classy fans and players. I thought the field was one of the best I've seen in many years. The facemask play should have been marked off from the original line of scrimmage or not. I thought UC was back in the game and had momentum on the long 3rd down pass that was broken up by 2 Mustangs only to fall in the UC receivers hands. Well officiated game except the facemask fiasco. I think the difference in the game was Huntingdon switched defenses. Both teams played hard and I'm sure we'll see each other again. The kicker from UC is the best I've seen in a while. Man what a leg. Kinda reminds me of the kicker from Trousdale County last year.
  12. BulldogFan#2.. I hope y'all get back to the title game.. You'll find out in 3-AAA the going will be alot tougher. Lipscomb did well though when they had to move up and I'm sure the Bulldogs will too.
  13. BulldogFan#2.. I had a chance to talk to BulldogFan#1 today and had a good laugh and a nice talk about Bulldog and Mustang football. I hope we can get back together and talk again real soon. It did me a world of good and I didn't leave any lighter if you now what I mean. Good luck against the Vikings Friday night.
  14. BigSwo.. Thanks for the reply. Good luck to your son tomorrow night and hope he has a good game and is injury free. Most posters on CoachT mean well but there are always some that want to stir the pot. I've found out over the years what it means to be a good loser along with a humble winner. Others get on here and want to brag about this or that and when their team beats UC or Huntingdon they think they have won the Clinic Bowl. When teams stop bragging about beating us then that's when I/we begin to be concerned here in Huntingdon. We're looking for a brawl tomorrow night and I hope our boys are up for it. I really do think we'll meet again in the playoffs against each other but we'll know how we both stack up after tomorrow night.
  15. As a Huntingdon fan I've seen several stadiums over the years. One of the nicest is Dyer County. Gallatin has an old stadium but has a wonderful feel about the place. David Lipscomb had a terrible visitors seating when we played them. Seats appx. 200 unless they have redone their stadium. Decatur County is bad too. Very little seating on the visitors side.
  16. BigSwo.. Thanks for your concern but I guess it doesn't matter unless your team loses. We call the UC-Huntingdon game in '99 as "The game when time stood still". All I'm saying is when a visiting team visits UC the visitors know they will get the shaft. Just hope it's not a big one. It's kinda like playing at Johnnie Hale Stadium in the past and the scoreboard goes on the blink all the time. We enjoy playing at UC all kidding aside. Your facilities are 2nd to none.
  17. SB38Devils.. I know you're from Jo Byrns but I promise you no one from Huntingdon is making reservations in Cookeville. Lots of posters on these threads are fans from other schools that want to stir the pot if you know what I mean. You get some idiots on here that want to brag about how good their team is but the good people in Huntingdon know football for sure and we all no there are no gimmees. We have a nice team but I think next year we will be better. JMO. (I saw your game with TC last year and was impressed with y'all and especially #44. He's a hoss). Good luck to you and SP too.
  18. Pirate_Mike.. Thanks. Funny things happen on the way to the Forum. When you play at Union City you never know how the refs will call the game. In 1999 we played them at UC and the clock never runs in the final 30 seconds and when it does as time is winding down the ref stops the game and goes over to the homeside UC band and tells them to stop playing cause the UC team can't hear the signals. They run the field goal unit on and line up and kick an unbeliveable FG and beat us 21-19. We got them at home the same year and won in the semi's to go to the Clinic Bowl. We look for more of the same but maybe we can over come the refs.
  19. The Tigers better work of pass defense. Huntingdon scrimmaged Scotts Hill this fall and they pretty much throw it 90% of the time from a spread. Bruceton can win this game but will have to play hard. Will Jordan be back for this game? He went out with an ankle sprain (I think) against the Mustangs last week and he could be a difference maker. Good luck Tigers...
  20. I have refrained form posting on this thread but don't think the UC game will be easy. They have a good looking team and have been playing good football for a while now. This will be a tough tough game. I'm sure the home crowd will give them a boost and I just hope the refs don't play a role in deciding the game. When you get the Reelfoot Conf. refs you just don't ever know. This game really doesn't mean alot except for bragging rights because I'm sure we'll meet again in the playoffs. I'd like our chances a whole lot better if we were playing in Huntingdon. I just don't think you can key on Holder. As Hufstedler02 said Thompson is good too and BAM can throw if Swenson lets him. I like our chances if we hold on to the ball but I'm sure the good folks from UC think the same thing. Just because 10 posters from each school gets on CoachT and talks up a good game one needs to remember we all have no effect on the outcome of the game. Huntingdon has always played up and UC is one game the Mustangs realize will be tough. Go Mustangs...
  21. Good game by the Mustangs. Holder had 3 td's on 3 carries for 125 yds. Only played the 1st quarter. Looks like a long year again for Central. Hang in there Tigers..
  22. Maryville fans.. there is a nice article on former Maryville QB Cade Thompson in the Jackson Sun Thursday. You can read it at http://www.jacksonsun.com He is the pre-season All OVC QB for UT-Martin. Good luck the rest of the year. Hope you make it back AGAIN...
  23. Heard the flu bug has hit the Mustangs. How many will be out Friday night? Those Bulldogs must have left us something besides an "L". I was at practice on Wednesday and Holder was sitting on the back of the gator and wasn't practicing. Will he be able to go? Any word would be appreciated.
  24. Nice article in the Carroll News Leader about Bruceton winning the State Title in 1989 against DCA. Nice picture of now Bruceton HC Jamie Williams scoring the final td of the game. Bruceton had some tough teams then and when they won the title it was in 3 classifications not the watered down version we have now. That was quite an accomplishment. I was at the "Ice Bowl" and was proud they won. Coach Williams will get the players to play hard and he has more players out than Coach Gilmer had last year. It will take some time but he will get Central football back. I look for a tough game Friday night. This will be their Super Bowl much like most teams we play. Go Mustangs....
  25. I think this is correct Trousdale plays in 2A and South Pittsburg in 1A. Huntingdon will go a long way no doubt they prove that last night! It will take a darn good 1A school to beat the Mustangs. Milan has some work to do on defense not taking anything away from the Mustangs. But if Milan don't sharpen up on defense they will be making a early exit this fall. Good luck to the Mustangs and Dogs the rest of the year!! I meant to say also what a great football town is Huntingdon!! Zebra99.. Thanks for the kind words but I think UC and Jo Byrns will have a say in who goes, don't you?
