  1. Congrats to Jonathan White, a 2006 graduate of Milan and Dyersburg State pitcher went undrafted and then signed a 7 year contract with the Mets. Supposed to report to Single A immediately with velocity up to 94 mph since Tommy John surgery his senior year of high school.
  2. Congrats to the Eagles. It takes a team with a great coach and a team with the best attitude on and off the field to be the champs.
  3. Watched Purcell pitch for years in travel ball and he is very good. Fastball has a lot of movement.
  4. What kind of idiot would call Milan a hapless program? Milan has records that even the mighty Alcoa doesn't have. Too bad the top two programs in the history of 2A football haven't played each other. Maybe that will happen soon /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  5. 1. Smyrna - Hard hitting team with balanced Offense 2. Maryville - Coaching advantage is almost unfair. 3. Maplewood- Most talent to only have 33 players. 4. Alcoa - Cobb, coaching, and confidence. Would love to see a Maplewood-Alcoa game. 5. ? 6. ? 7. ? 8. ? 9. Goodpasture- Alcoa is in their head. GP should move to 3A. 10. Mckenzie- Didn't match up well with S. Pitt. I thought Carr was the 4th best QB behind Cobb, Gray, and Burnette.
  6. I watched the entire game on TV. Cobb and Sam Thompson are special players and the Alcoa Oline was impressive as well. GP should have played this team close but I think Alcoa may be in their head as well. Also, trying to defend Cobb is like playing 11 against 12. Hats off to Coach Rankin, he coaches to win State championships.
  7. I agree. Congrats to the Rebels for getting this far but South Pitt has one heck of a team and really could have named the score in this one if Coach would have left the starters in.
  8. I'll take that bet. How much do you want to lose?
  9. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  10. I"ll answer that question on the Saturday after Thanksgiving next year. Next year's sophomore, junior, and senior class will be better than this year's but a state championship will not be handed to them. Bulldog Fan #2 is right in that they will have to bust their butts in the offseason and have that focus it takes to get back to State.
  11. I saw Maryville and Alcoa last year at state. I can guarantee you Maryville doesn't recruit. They are basically avg. players with a few good ones mixed in but they execute almost to perfection. Alcoa is the opposite as they are loaded with athletes. I can't figure that part out since Alcoa has around 800 fewer students than Maryville. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  12. They were loaded in 03' and look what happened. I don't think anything needs to be said about the 08' team because they haven't proven anything yet. I think we all need to remember what Coach Tucker thought about his teams before the season started.
  13. Closing speed is nice but it means very little if your DE's are getting blowed off the line.
  14. That's a sign of good coaching. Kent Scott plays his best 11 and that's why they're in the semi-finals.
  15. That's what happens when you have capable blockers on a kick off team.
  16. I want to see the Milan coaches and players approach next year like they have something to prove. Milan will have a handfull of awesome seniors and a loaded up junior and sophomore class. Having said that, don't get caught up in the preseason hype. Take all that talent and take care of some unfinished business. /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> Good luck Trenton. I like the energy you show and I know the players feed off of Coach Scott's intensity.
  17. I agree. Anyone that thinks Trenton will be down when Harper leaves are wrong. I see a coach who's committed to winning and putting his best 11 on the field.
  18. And GP won't stop Peabody either. Whoever has the ball last wins.
  19. Yep. Who is the Oline coach for Trenton? Whoever it is does a good job.
  20. Trenton by 6. Their Oline has schemes just like Tucker used to run at Milan and they run it well. I don't think either team will be able to stop the other.
  21. Huntingdon will never hire a Milan alumni.
  22. That's a good list. Add P.A. Pratt, Jeff Smith, John Fisher, Rod Smith. I"ve seen every player since 76' and Earnest Fields was the best.
