  1. cloudland will be fine. the officials called lots of fouls on both teams. officials that call everything doesnt suit cloudlands style very well. i would have to say they called the game consistantly but i have never seen refs call a game that tight. i think they may have called a couple of fouls on us for breathing on the other team. but like i said they called it on both teams.
  2. looked into it a little more and it does not sound good for the coach. would hate to see someone punished for something they didnt do, but if he did do what they say, then he gets what he gets. just found it interesting it happened on thursday and nothing on here about it. if it had been in carter county there would be at least ten pages on it by now.
  3. i just ran across an article on the net here that says the cosby coach "was suspended effective immediately without pay because of what the Cocke County school system is calling an “undisclosed personnel matter†according to the Newport Plain Talk newspaper." didnt say how long of a suspension or what for but just found it interesting. here was the link i found it under. http://www.examiner.com/high-school-football-in-nashville/wild-two-days-region-1-a-as-two-coaches-leave-their-programs
  4. Horrible website but i must say i catch myself looking at it from time to time to see what idiots have to say. king i wouldnt worry much about it, it seems you have more friends defending you than the one person that seems to want to bash you. to the game i think we will be ok friday if we dont turn the ball over. last year andrews lost one game against hayesville and won a playoff game against them. i think we are as good as last years team and more disiplined and we beat hayesville last year. this years team listens and seems to respect the coaches and that is a big step in the right direction. some of last years team showed no respect and that can kill a team as it rubs off on everyone. good luck landers and i cant wait til friday, i am sure the drive back will be worse than the drive down.
  5. you cant take a lot out of a jamboree and it aint all doom and gloom at cloudland. they pretty much just ran the ball up the middle and made sure they didnt get anyone injured because they cant afford to lose any bodies to a scrimmage. right now hampton is the better team. but cloudland will be fine they have looked pretty good in scrimmages against WG and DC. first two games could be pretty tough but give the team some time and dont give up on a team during the preseason. this is a very young team and if they all stick with it they will improve troughout the year. the offense will open up more as the freshman qb gains experience and as the coaches get acquainted to what he can do he will develope into a very good qb. and taylor whitehead will probably be back around week 4 or so and that will help.
  6. i believe the jamboree is at avery county this year for the high schools. cloudland vs hampton and unaka vs avery and i think they may play 2 qtrs instead of 1 but not sure. oops, pujo beat me to the answer.
  7. Wish Hampton luck. the records of cloudland and hamptons opponets may be deceiving. summertown has the 2nd toughest schedule in the state while middleton is ranked 97th not much better than cosbys. at this point no team can have an off game.
  8. heard from someone who went and saw jellico play say they are most similar to avery than any other team that we played this year.
  9. in basketball anybody can beat anybody on any given night. i believe hampton will be pretty focused to get to play cloudland again. they could possibly overlook cosby but i dont think that will be the case. early in the year cosby beat unaka by only four and hampton just killed unaka saturday night. if hampton plays to thier capabilities cosby has no chance. but as they say "thays why they play the games." anything can happen.
  10. I believe they will play each other one more time.
  11. yeah sometimes ol roy tries to force depth that isnt there. he wants to always go ten deap. on the other hand i always thought coach k needed to develope his bench more in the past.
  12. i am not boasting that cloudland is better than east. i think east will win their region and wish them luck. i had to throw in the barnes deal due to being a duke fan, getting two jabs for the price of one.
  13. Hampton and cloudland could be some special matchups this year. i see them playing each other probably four times this season. i do think hampton should be a little better but i dont think they will win all four. hill for hampton is really good but has always had troubles with cloudlands schemes.
  14. ok mr unc1 everyone has off games. how about mr #1 recruit in the nation Harrison Barnes for unc i think he has had two very off nights in a row. and i was just saying "IF" is an easy way to excuse anything.
  15. that is impossible to know. if he played maybe cloudland wins by more. maybe he would have had an off night. if he went down early then how do you know how he would of done. IF is the biggest word in sports, it can be used in every game to change the potential winner.
  16. i see some bright spots for cloudland but they must get more students out for football. the coaches need to ask people to play. kids want to be wanted and more will come out if the coaches will show that they want everyone in the school to play. if you go up to a teenager and tell them we really need you on the football field, you could make a big difference you will make them feel important and needed and a lot of kids need that. the three lineman you were talking about i think can be good. brett hicks i think can become very good and the haynes kid held his own pretty good as a freshman but where are the backups and the other two starters going to come from. when you try to run smashmouth football the line and line depth is very important. i think there is enough talent in the school to make next year a decent year but i dont see many seniors on next years team. i just hope we dont lose any players to other schools. i have heard from a few that childress is going to transfer to avery next year which dosent make a lot of sense to me because they lose almost everyone. i hope its not true because i could see him being a beast with his work ethic.
  17. thats true in one sense. but the challenge of rebuilding the same team you played for twice could be interesting. and who knows how the tssaa set up will be from year to year. it maybe easier for him to win a state championship at cloudland in 1A than hampton at 2A if most the privates keeping getting moved to 2A. cloudland could have some really good talent coming from the current 7 8 and 9 grades.
  18. mike would get the number of players up. it would be great to see him on the sidelines again and i like robbie but there is no way to deny the quality of coach mike is. next year could be a very down season just not going to be many seniors on the team very few juniors on this years team. the only way cloudland will be a decent team next year is to get some of the boys walking the halls to come out and play. there will be some very good but very young building blocks. the future could be very bright at cloudland but you must keep the players on the team. after next season the team could really make fast progress. maybe mikes brother could talk him into coming back i think you might know him pujo.
  19. know what you mean. been playin softball the last 15 years in avery county and the last 7 or 8 in elizabethton and this past year has bought done me in think its time to retire
  20. nuttin like shirleys. i guess you guys claim it or is it to close to johnson county?
  21. james tolley 4 cloudland was a big ol boy
  22. that was two great teams. i think bj taylor for hampton was as good of a runner as they have had. bj arnett i always thought was a underated back for cloudland. robbie at qb and jeremy gouge at wide out.
  23. yeah i couldnt believe unaka won it that year. i actually felt cloudland got hosed against them in the final at milligan that year but was still glad they won the state.
