Hate may not be a strong enough word. The man was arrogant and lazy. You would have kids show up to school an hour early to lift weights and he couldn’t even show up to unlock the door half the time. He would talk bad about the town and would tell the kids it was a stepping stone job. I guess it was a stepping stone to a middle school coaching job.

South Greene QB is pretty dang good. He can run and throw as good as anyone in the area. It will be interesting. I don’t think South Greene will be able to line up and run it against Hampton with much success but the SG passing game could cause some trouble. I think Hampton can pressure the SG QB but he may be more dangerous on the run. I’d look for SG to try and stop Hampton QB from running but having Lyons back for Hampton could be the big key to the game. I see this as a one score difference with whoever has the fewest turnovers/penalties winning. I see a crazy penalty or turnover deciding this game.

Zac had JV in at end of 2nd qtr. Cosby did score on their first possession but that was the only score against Cloudland first team. Cloudland defense came out flat to start game but showed up after that. Two Cosby scores were against JV kids.

38-8 cloudland 6:16 in 2nd Qtr. freshman QB for Cloudland has not hurt us at all. Getting good experience.

This game has been moved to October 15 due to COVID at Happy Valley. Cloudland will now play Jellico next Friday.

Yeah I’ve watched replay from a couple angles. The Cosby kid was all over Oaks. He sheds him. Situation where stronger kid wins.

Yeah Twitter people wanting a foul call. Which one you wanna call. The first one on Cosby or the second one on Hampton. If your not gonna call the first one it’s best to not call the second one.

I’m not sure who the leading scorer was. This team usually has a different leading scorer each night. We did play 10 players. They play very well together and are sometimes to unselfish. It’s a deep team that does not go down much when going to the bench. The Flu had hit this team pretty hard with all but two of the varsity players missing at least one game this year due to sickness. I do think both Cloudland and North Greene have a good shot at going to state this year and next. Both teams only have one senior. That being said, Greenfield is a monster, and Clarkrange Lorreto, & Summertown all are above Cloudland and North Greene at this time. But if you make it to state and get a good draw, anything can happen.

Yes Cloudland best UH. Cloudland was up 10 at halftime and about 29 or so to start 4th. UH looked off and Cloudland out hussled them all night. This conference could be crazy this year.

Cloudland had four girls out last night with the flu two of which see playing time on varsity. Two more went to the doctor after the game last night feeling sick. They were a step slow last night and almost the entire team has had some type of sickness. Was good to be able to come out with a win considering the circumstances.

Looks like the king’s not gonna answer. Clouland JV will be playing in the Sullivan East JV tournament right after Christmas. Then the varsity is going to the York tournament in Jamestown TN starting January 2.

Mandy is a junior. Kenzie Birchfield is the lone senior.

With only one senior on this years team, none will start as a freshman. I honestly only see one getting any meaningful minutes as a freshman.

South Greene 67 Cloudland 60 OT. Cloudland led almost entire game. All 5 starters for Cloudland fouled out. Free throws attempted: South Greene 52 Cloudland 23. Reffing was actually bad both ways. You could tell it was their first game of the season too.

But you in your post you said Quote, " I know 4 of the girls could already start for the high school." For them to start for the high school, they would have to beat someone out, that is what I was commenting about.

the jr high team is good but none of them would start on the high school team today.

North Greene is a lot better than most people think. They have a pretty good combination of players. They have height and are pretty athletic. The young coach they have is full of energy and he really gets his players going. It is according to which Hampton team shows up. From what I hear there is some tumoil with the team and fans right now, but I would not bet against a Ned Smith coached team this time of year. Smith seems disliked by many, but all the man does is WIN every year.

Most of the Cloudland boys have only practiced two days because of football. They still have football legs. Also Big Blair and Lil Birchfield did not play.

I think its because the fanbase for both teams are unsure of what they have this year. Either one of them could win and it not really be considered an upset. I think this game is probably the most important game of the year for both teams. A win will give one of these teams the confidence they need to carry them through the rest of the season. A loss and the season could go the opposite direction just from a mental stand point.

I do believe most refs are impartial and do the best they can do. I believe some people who are officiating the game should not be. We have some refs who have a very hard time making it up and down the court and because of this are in a bad position to see and make calls. At the same time, becasue of the pressure put on the officials by fans and coaches during a game, I know it is hard to find people who are willing to do this job. I for one would not want to be a basketball official. I always tried to believe that officials were not "cheating" a team. That did become real hard to believe earlier this year at a junior high game with TSSAA officials. A Refs child should not sit with the home team, wear the home teams colors, and come out on the court with the home team while his father officiates the game. This one ref made almost all his calls against the visiting team.. I did feel sorry for the official calling with him. You could tell he was in a tough situation and he even apologized to some fans for his partners officiating.

Right now Unaka is looking like the best team. Hampton has started with a lot of loses but have played a very hard schedule. Cloudland has looked good. Hard to tell about North Greene. They are pretty good but have played a weak schedule so far other than South Greene.

Elizabethton actually got two transfers from Happy Valley this year. That has really hurt Happy Valley. Elizabethton is very young and I think they will struggle this year. But how about Mr. Leon Tolley coaching Johnson County to their first ever win against Elizabethton. I knew he would really improve that program but I never thought he would have them this competitive this fast.

With South Greene moving up to 2A this district is up for grabs. I don't think anyone will go undefeated in district play. Good chance 2 loses in district could still win this district. I would probably give North Greene a slight edge but Cloudland, Unaka, and Hampton all are very close. University High and Sullivan North will battle it out for the last two spots.

I went to the Greenback Coalfield playoff game last year and told the guys I was with that I was more impressed with the Gilbert kid than with Roberts. He sees the hole very well and then hits it hard.
