watched alcoa and elizabethton last year and all alcoa done was run the ball but thy run could not be stopped. i also know in years past they threw the ball quite a bit with cobb that is now at kentucky. no matter what type of offense they have they run it as good as i can be run. they are a lot of players in the knoxville area that want to and do play for alcoa. it would be great to see a local team beat them but it may take a miracle. hey unaka won a gold ball in basketball and i dont think many people expected it that year so you never know.

yeah little jerry played baseball with my kid one year at avery county. the 8th grade group in avery county is more basketball oriented and are very good at basketball. my son has always been small but has now hit his growth spurt and it has really helped him. he generally started in football even as the lower grader but not always on a good team. the thing that really hurts avery most in high school is the coaching the kids get before they get there. good people just not good coaches. they do not teach blocking and tackling very well. they only work on plays in practice and stop plays in practice at the first touch. thats what i like about the cloudland 8th grade group, very few missed tackles and fundamentaly strong.

happy valley did look great against cloudland but i dont think cloudland went into the game with a winning mind set. they were in more of a lets not get injured and make sure we have our bullets in games that matter for the playoffs. i so think hampton will have to bring there a plus game. if they do they have a chance. happy valley has two very quick backs and a big line that i think may wear hampton down. i hope hampton wins but if i had to put money on one i would put it on happy valley.

A man has to do whats best for his kids. i am kinda in a similar situation. i went to cloudland and love the school dearly. because of the way my job and my wifes job it has always been easier for us to take our kids to avery county to school. i want my boy to go to cloudland but i have decided to leave it up to him and he is not completely sure which he wants. he is an 8th grader and i have told him he has to decide by the start of his freshman year but i dont want to make him go to one that he dosent want to go to. he says he will go to cloudland but carter county high school games, and mostly only cloudland, are all i take him to so that may be why he says that. but if i thought his decision was a mistake i would make the choice for him but i dont see either decision as a mistake.

next year in football cloudland wont be playing a lot of seniors which will hurt them next year but help them in the years to come. the underclassmen will have to produce early. i have been impressed with whitehead at qb and childress at rb and the young ones playing the line is coming on better than i thought they would. Hampton should be good next year in football because when this group of juniors were 8th graders they were pretty darn good.

i think this year will be exciting between the two in basketball. cloudland returns some really good talent and their jv's were very good last year and i think you guys didnt lose but maybe two players.

yeah i like the rivalry. its one of those things when you win its great and when you lose its awful. basketball the last few years has been awesome and i like basketball but its so much funner to be really good at football.

i think most people understand you pulling for hampton, i mean a man should be able to pull for his brother without people downing him. i think people hope litte jerry goes to high school at cloudland and this current middle school team continues to grow together because they could become something special if none quits football or school all together.

one more thing i will be at the game and pulling for hampton. always disliked HV.

I think most cloudland people would want hampton to be good but want cloudland to be better. as long as cloudland beats hampton they are fine with hampton winning all the rest of there games. if cloudland and hampton played the first game of the season and cloudland won it would make it a lot easier to pull for hampton the rest of the year. its like you want your best friend to have nice house and lots of money but you would like for yourself to have a little nicer house and a little more money than they do. hampton did support cloudland when they went to state and i think a lot of the ones that didnt support hampton years later in the semi's may regret it now. when you are used to being on top its hard to watch others pass you by no matter how close of friends or rivals you are.

the lander offense and defense looked good. was worried a little because of Matt Cole sitting out the first half but everyone stepped up. we really need to work on special teams though. special teams could really bite us down the road if not improved on

agreed. scott helped coach this group in middle school and had great success.

i have wondered why scott potter wasnt helping coach. i do know that they got rid of michael lee from last year. and last years team seemed to have too many people standing on the sideline for no reason. they were a lot of people over there that didnt really belong on the sideline because they werent really a coach.

i am not saying these coaches are bad by no means. i think the assistants mike had were more experienced and he could lean on them more from that regard. brewer was an excellent assistant/defensive coach. tom puckett was very experienced watching the plays from up above and sending down advice. kieth i think is very good and was underappreciated. the coaches we have now seem young and work there butts off. they are gaining experience daily. i just think experience is a great thing. i think the unaka game was coached as good as could have been done and the players executed what was called. The Hv game i think they kinda treated as a throw away game and was just wanting to get out healthy for conference games the rest of the way. the players this year respect the coaches more than last years. it shows in how they play with a lot more heart and disipline. i think last years team had no respect for the coaches and a lot of that probably came from hearing parents talking behind coaches backs. if the parents and fans dont respect the coaches its hard to get the players to.

yes staff is better than last year. i just think robbie dosent really have someone with lots of experience and knowledge but i guess they all have to start somewhere. the numbers is the biggest problem. kids will want to play for a winner if we can get that part back going. glad to hear cordell is ok. back to game talk. i think cloudland can win this game. i also think cosby can. if we play smart and dont turn the ball over we will win. but that is the key to all games. i would say cloudland 20 cosby 14

i dont think robbie is a bad coach but i do wish he was more vocal. dosent seem to chew enough butt a lot of the time. when you have few in numbers i guess you cant chew quite as much as one would like. kids these days like to quit when they get thier feelings hurt. when mike was here he had better assistant coaches or at least lets say more experienced. we really need to get behind what ever coach is here and give them support. no coach can win without support from school and parents. its getting to the point were everyone is looking for any reason to throw off on robbie, like they were with kieth his last year. i think the cordell kid broke his arm at HV if i am not mistaking.

I believe cole will be back. I actually gained more respect for robbie friday night. Cole is a very talented player but sometimes loses his head on defense and makes not so smart plays. on a forth down he got a personal foul on one of those not so smart plays. it was early in the third qtr and was very costly but we were never going to win. robbie pulled cole out and told him he was done for the game. cole was mad and said you wont see me monday as most kids would have done and robbie said do what you have too. with the way players were dropping in the game it was smart to remove your best player and try to teach him a lesson at the same time. Coles a great talent but he needs to play smarter sometimes because against unaka he costed the team with a personal foul when he just slapped a player in the head long after the play. i love players being aggressive and dont mind the personal fouls coming from being to aggressive but do mind when they come from lack of composure.

his dad is from Texas/Mexico. i hope they stay in the area. i like little eddie and big eddie and his lil sis and lil bro. good people

leave it to the tssaa to mess it up again. every time they try to make it better it seems to get worse. i do love the way this cloudland team plays all out. an off subject question for pujo. i heard averys qb broke his collarbone, you heard anything?
