  1. How does this district pan out? I saw where Goodpasture and FRA won on Monday night. I'm guessing those were satellite games? What is the seeding for this tournament, and how will these teams match up with teams from District 10A?
  2. Cheatham County and Stewart County were beaten last night. Sycamore and MC play tonight. Has anyone heard what might happen to Wavelry's head and assistant coaches after the incidents last Friday at Houston Co.? What kind of impact, if any, will it have on their run in the tournament?
  3. Of course, I'll be pulling for the Lady Irish, but they will have to be on top of their game. District 10A could easily be full of upsets; the 3-6 seeds are all strong teams in their own rights. I know the seniors on the HC team, and they aren't taking anyone lightly. Good luck FIghtin' Irish!! I'll be there all the way!!
  4. Jamie Cary and Courtney Beal from Houston County are to be congratulated for reaching 1000+ points in their careers. They are both 4 year varsity players who have led this team for the last 3 years. WAY TO GO LADIES!!!!
  5. No doubt that Glasglow is SCHS' glue. How bad is the knee? I've heard it was only a minor sprain/strain, and I've heard that she blew it out. She would definitely make a difference in the game with Waverly. Good luck tomorrow!
  6. I saw that Houston Co. is scheduled to play Fairview on Jan. 5. I know last year that the Lady Irish lost 2 games to the Yellowjackets. What can you tell me about them? Seems their ball handler (Bledsoe?) was something. I'm assuming that she is still leading the team. What's their record so far? Who have they played and beaten? Strengths? Weaknesses? Players to watch?
  7. There's a way around that multiplier. Private schools can always puta cap on the number of students to accept so they can keep the numbers down. This will still allow them to play in districts or regions that will offer them the most success. It seems like it's always about the money where the TSSAA is concerned; forget about what the member schools want.
  8. It obviously doesn't matter what the member schools want. The only reason that the TSSAA is giving deals with money and the cost for teams to travel. Apparently the multiplier issue is still on the table, but that's not going to help either. Unlike public schools that can't limit their enrollment, private schools can easily do the math and put a cap on enrollment so that they can compete in the districts/regions that will give them the best chance to succeed. I played high school sports at a small, public school in TN in the 80's, and it was the same then. Maybe it's just me, but even today, I have a soft spot for those coaches and programs who play and win with the hands they're dealt. I don't want anyone to think that I'm bad- mouthing students who have the means to attend private schools because I'm not. I just think that a split between public and private schools would have been the right thing to do. Private and public schools could still play each other in the regular season, but it would be a choice. That's what's been taken away from the public schools.
  9. The Lady Irish are 1-1 with a win over Montgomery Central and an 8 point loss at Waverly. The girls are playing well right now and are expecting another tough game tomorrow night against Stewart Co. Their bench is deep with experience and numbers. Coach Moore isn't afraid to play sophomores and freshmen if they'll get the job done. I'm looking forward to a physical game against Dover; these two teams always seem to bring out the best in each other, and the games are always fun to watch. As a fan, I can say that the Lady Irish haven't been out-toughed by either team they've faced, and I think that will contimue to be the trend. Coach Moore has got these girls fired up and believing in themselves; they're definitely playing team ball, and any player will be the leader on any given night. Good luck to both teams tomorrow. Should be a great game.
  10. I've seen the numbers that SCHS has put up against McEwen and CA. Who's the big gun? It doesn't seem that you all have been tested yet. I've seen McEwen and CA, and they are both really weak teams. Didn't you lose two or three big producers from last year? I know that the Rebels are scheduled to play at Houston Co. tomorrow... any predictions? What style of ball are you playing? I've watched Glasglow since she was in elementary school; has she committed to anyone? Is she still prone to getting into foul trouble? No matter, the games between the Rebels and the Irish are always good ones...no matter the records. Good luck to both teams.
  11. Waverly can hurt you inside or out. The Banes girls was held to 4 points against Houston Co., but #22 and #20 had 14 points each. Kristen brings the ball down the floor on the press and just throws is over people. She could be foul-prone if you keep taking it to her. I think she ended up with 4 against the Irish and it could have been worse, but the officials no-called several tie ups on drives by the Irish. If you've got a running team, you'll be better off. Don't let Wavelry set up on defense.
  12. 2-3 zone should work... last year, they were neither an inside or outside team...shots came whenever and wherever they could....neither dominated over the other....i don't remember them having any size....a couple of quick girls, but like i said, no ball handlers. the boys are usually much stronger and much more athletic.
  13. Saw Houston County this week. They're looking pretty tough. Anyone heard anything about Davidson? Who's back, who's new? What about East Robertson? Saw McEwen over the summer. Big turn around for the worse. Don't know about them now.
  14. JoByrns is historically a weak team. They are physical, but fundamentally weak. Handling pressure on the ball is theie key. If they can do that, they are a better team. I never saw that last year. Press 'em til you can't press 'em any more.
  15. Great game last night in at Marion County! Just wanted to let Houston County players and coaches know that the fans are so proud of all you have accomplished so far this season. We're ready for another good game next Friday at Lipscomb. Some might say it's a David and Goliath kind of game, but you guys know how that story turned out. keep up the good work. We'll be there in the stands screaming our heads off! IRISH STOMP!!
  16. According to Coach Busey, in 1987, Mike Harris caught a pass in every game he played. Mitchell's yardage is way above that of Harris. McMillan is a smart QB, and Mitchell knows and plays the game well. Are they the best HC has ever had? hard to say. HC had some pretty good teams in the 70s, but I don't have any ideas about stats for yards, completions, etc.
  17. Rumor, purely rumor. They do dress 2 girls, but they are JV players. One of them is tougher than a lot of guys I've seen play.
  18. No predictions, but with the latest story to come out of Tyner, they'll have a lot on their minds. Good luck Westmoreland. Houston County will be pullin' for ya!
  19. I'm with ya jettjuice!! Can't wait for it to get here!! Tell the rest of the Green and Black we're with them all the way!! IRISH STOMP!!
  20. I'll be traveling to Marion Co. this week to watch Houston Co. play. What can you tell me about Marion County? I've heard about their teams from the past, and apparently they have had their share of glory years. How does this year's team compare?
  21. jettjuice, gotgame, and the rest of you fightin' irish players, we are SO proud of all of you. knowing everything you've been through the last few months makes it all the sweeter for us fans. we'll be making the trip to marion county with you. good luck!! we know you've got at least one more win in you, and we can't wait to be a part of it!! IRISH STOMP!!!!

    2A playoffs

Houston County is playing really well right now. I think the game at Marion County will be a good one, but that the guys in green and black will be playing another week. GO BIG GREEN!!!
  23. Congrats to the guys at Westmoreland. Sounds like it was a hard fought game. Good luck next week against Tyner!!
