  1. ELA.....HELLO.... are you listening? WHAT INFORMATION IS IN ERROR ON GALLATIN'S FORMS???????????? They did EVERYTHING by the book and got hammered. Well, it's all irrelevant now anyway. My phone call just now came with the bad news. Gtown has officially been raped. Shame on all you detractors. I wish any of you would stand up and tell Seth Clark, William Stephens, Sergio Bowers, and the rest of those guys who worked their rears of to overcome injuries, some nearly fatal, to have it all taken away like this. This senior class worked way to hard to be done this way. Changing the rules now does them absolutely no good.
  2. Tuttleizer, I too have never seen a GreenWave team that flat. I think they had the wind knocked out of them from the events of that week not because HL was 3 or 4 td's better. Yes they got drilled but is HL that much better..... I don't think so.
  3. fromthetop and theman, You have to give us Gallatin people more credit....we believe in everything being fair.....if we are going to get shafted everybody ought to...Seriously though, those other schools in region 5 wouldn't be where they are without the forfeits. Gallatin EARNED their 8 wins and the HL loss is still questionable.
  4. GWave1, Good points. First of all everyone is still assuming the parent (singular) lied on the form. To my knowledge THEY (mother and son) DO live in Gallatin. The question was raised because she still owns her house in Nashiville and the brother goes to Dupont Tyler (sp?) Middle School. IF she DID move to Gallatin and the address is correct then wouldn't that make the BROTHER ineligible to compete??????? Besides, ELA, there will never be a perfect set of rules and something else that taxes the letter of the law will come up...can we agree on that. My point is, Ronnie Carter, you, the TSSAA or anybody else in this business has to use a brain in considering the INTENT of the rule. YOU CAN NOT have a system that places a school in a no win situation. AGAIN, is the TSSAA not smart enough to know what questions to ask to avoid this????? Gallatin did EVERYTHING they were asked to do and you haven't told me yet what they could have done to avoid this.
  5. Again, it is not the responsibility of the TSSAA to insure that a kid lives where he says he lives, it is the responsibility of the parents to tell the truth when they sign their kid up to play ball. This could happen to any school! CPA turned themselves in when they discovered they had a problem. If the rules need to be changed, then Gallatin should request a rule change, but under the circumstances, the TSSAA had no choice but to follow the rules that are on the books. I don't think it was a sucker punch for the TSSAA to follow the rules from their handbook. Maybe in the future, a new rule can be written, but since this came out so late in the season, what else could be done? It's a bad situation for both the TSSAA and Gallatin. Ela, I disagree with the notion that the TSSAA had no choice but rule this way. The bylaws say an exception can be made. If the TSSAA had not appoved Gallatin's request twice they could have filed for a hardship. There is no possible way a school can pry into a kid's private family life and I maintain the TSSAA takes the cowards way out. Why is there no consideration for the INTENT of the law. I read the bylaws today and the TSSAA has a whole layer in there to cover their rears. It is impossible iin todays society to comply completely. What they did to Gallatin is plain old wrong. There is absolutely nothing Gallatin could have done and by doing it "by the book" they received the high school death penalty. You guys can continue this TSSAA and Ronnie Carter lovefest but they have the most fault in this. How can a school take a chance on playing any kid after this. To my knowledge nothing has changed and Gallatin was 100 percent truthful on everyting. You tell me how Gallatin could have prevented this.
  6. ELA, So how does a school avoid getting sucker-punched by the TSSAA. Do you make a legitimate transfer sit out to avoid this. How is that fair to the kid? Gallatin did EVERYTHING possible to avoid this on the front end. Are the schools supposed to break into the kids house and take pictures or what.
  7. bins37388, From Gallatin's standpoint, what do you do when you ask a poice officer what the speed limit is on a particular stretch of road and not once but twice he tells you 40 mph and then when you take off he gives you a ticket for going 40 in a 25 zone. That's the way I perceive the TSSAA's handling the Gallatin issue. That isn't exactly what I would call fair. How could Gallatin have changed anything. The TSSAA needs a major overhaul and like any corporation it needs to start at the top.
  8. 82cat, This is a difficult issue. It is not fair to punish a school in this situation but it is also not fair to cost a kid a whole year of eligibility. Somewhere in the middle is the answer. I know Gallatin did everything above board. I think a little common sense has to be applied when dealing with these gray areas and everyone who knows me will tell you I see EVERYTHING in black and white. You are right about some using this to deceive to get players they want. This whole situation was a no win for Gallatin. At the same time it is unfair to hold a legitimate transfer out to avoid the wrath of the TSSAA. I know they are doing their job but use some good ole common sense. By the way, word from those who know is Gallatin's case IS being heard and a decision to grant them an injunction (or whatever they call it) WILL be made today. GreenWave fans keep your fingers crossed.
  9. 82cat, I'm afraid you are probably right. We just keep hoping that sooner or later common sense will rule the day. Go GreenWave!!!!! Never give up! wireman
  10. Hey, all we can do now is have some fun with this. It will be in the hands of the legal people from here on out. I just hate that this all happened to this senior class. These guys worked out of a TON of adversity to earn what they got. Most outsiders have no idea what individually these guys have overcome to have it all taken away like this. This senior class is a special bunch.
  11. Just a footnote to this Ronnie Carter lovefest, why is Gallatin's integrity in question? Is it not the responsiblity of the TSSAA to HELP kids with eligibilty? And why is it so easy for a family to dupe the system? As I have said before does the TSSAA not know what questions to ask on their own eligibility forms to avoid trapping a school that KNOWS it is doing EVERYTHING by the book. If the kid had transferred the day before game one...okay... but McGavock and anyone else involved had plenty of time to take care of business BEFORE the eighth game of the season. Nobody ever questioned the academic side of this. ALL of his records had to be sent to Gallatin high well before football became an issue (academic record, immunization records, etc.). This only became an issue when Gallatin thrashed McGavock, or at least that is when it reared it's ugly head. As it stands now Region 5-5A Champ will be sitting at home. Love That Wave! wireman
  12. I don't have Link's stats in front of me but he is dangerously close to breaking the rushing record for QBs in the state of TN. Should be a great game with Link and Meadows going head to head again.
  13. Yodude, With all due respect, I disagree with your assertion that no one can understand unless they are a coach, official, etc. Using that logic how can you tell Gallatin people how to feel if you are not a Gallatin person But thank you for your Gnostic insight. Look, all of us in G'town are down. I appreciate this board serving as a sounding board for so many of us. ALL of us have a view in this. Let the TSSAA stand up for themselves. Like the previous post said, The TSSAA punishes the member schools when they are wrong but who does the TSSAA answer to when THEY are wrong. I'll ask again, if I give my children permission to do something, and then punish them for doing EXACTLY what they said they would do, where is the justice in that. The TSSAA has been doing this long enough that at the very least they should know what questions to ask to avoid trapping a school in the truth.
  14. Okay guys (and wavelink) pardon me if I get giddy. THANK YOU ANTIOCH!!!!! I now am convinced that the events of last week had an impact on the outcome of the Gallatin-hl game. That was a very uncharacteristic showing for the GreenWave. I would also like to be the first to boycott the playoff season by all true GreenWave fans. If they want Glencliffs 50 fans instead of our 15,000 at the state game so-be-it. No offense Glencliff. I wouldn't mind seeing you guys advance. It does prove however, that neither money nor brains had anything to do with their decision. Hey Beech....Let's all have fun and enjoy the game tomorrow night. I hope Lassiter plays Shipley. What are they going to do.....take away our birthday. (Wavelink, put me down for $20 too ) wireman Oh, GWave1, I saw on Ch. 2 and 4 that Benny Bills made a statement that Gallatin High School would not seek any legal action. The earlier post is exactly right...no public school has the means to fight the TSSAA and that coward RC knows it.
  15. The silence is deafening! Does anybody have the music from Jeopardy. However this turns out today, thanks everybody for the support. This site has given some of us a chance to vent a little. I will forever maintain that the GreenWave has done NOTHING wrong. If the T$$AA can't interpret their own rules then how do they expect the rest of us to. The Shipley kid is the biggest victim in this whole stinky mess. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that the ruling will be overturned. If not I hope we need a scientific calculator to add up the lawsuits.
  16. I have a challenge for everyone who thinks Hunters Lane was not out of line Friday night...... Why don't you ask HL's head coach what he said to Coach Lassiter at the end of the game. Do that and then we'll end this conversation. Love that Wave! wireman
  17. sportsfanman, In my infinite wisdom #6 (Booker I think) crossed the line when he refused to kneel even when his own teammates were pulling his jersey to get him down. Then his sarcastic finger wave as they helped the player off the field crossed the line. They have too talented a team for that. Also the antics on the field after the game were not needed. Celebrate victory but as the old saying goes act like you've been there before. As far as Gallatin fans sitting on the visitors side, that has been a problem for years. Maybe we need to turn a few loyal fans away at the gate and draw 50 fans like the metro schools. Hendersonville has been the worst problem for us because their visitor side fills up so quickly that we take up a quarter of the home side. Like every team we have some fans that get out of line but 99 percent of GreenWave fans are very respectful of the other team. Why don't you ask Hunters Lane's seniors from last year. When they took their "senior walk" around the track they got more applause from Gallatin's fans than they did from the home crowd. Maybe thats why some of them actually came around twice. I don't expect you Gallatin haters to understand. This is a total community spirit. Love that Wave. wireman
  18. Well, time to eat some crow. The GreenWave had a rough week last week. Hunters Lane has a very good team. Speed to burn as they say. Gallatin was very flat and it was evident. The events of last week had some impact but HL is a very talented team. To bad they have no class to go along with it. Easy to see why coachtut jumped on the band wagon. Gwave1 you are exactly right. Let's look at the record for about the last ,oh, 20 years or so. All you Gtown haters need to understand you can't break our spirit. Loses like that one come RARELY at Gallatin. If our wins have to come with an asterisk then so does this loss. I would like to play this game again later without the distractions. HL may win again but I promise you it would be closer. Kick us while we're down but remember, what goes around comes around.
  19. I think Antioch relies too much on Coker. HL has alot more to worry about. I know they can air it out if necessary. By the way, does anyone know what happened to the kid that was taken away by ambulance at the end of the Antioch game. I never heard whether he was ok or not. Looked pretty scary at the time.
  20. Sorry guys but I don't see Gtown buckling under to HL's speed. They CAN'T be as fast as the Antioch back. That guy can move. HL probably does get a TD but don't underestimate Coach Walls. I think he may want to vent a little too. Gallatin wins going away but probably not a blowout. Barring injury Link will get the record. If not this week definitely against that new wet paper sack defense the Bucs have imlemented.
  21. Okay...I'll bite...What is the so called incorrect or false information that Gallatin supposedly submitted. Most of what I know is second hand info so we all know what that is worth. However, to my knowledge, Shipley moved to Gallatin before the required date...WITH his legal guardian (his mother)...she was separated from the STEPFATHER (who did not adopt therefore no custody)...The Wave staff sat him out for at least two games (I'm still not sure about Glencliff)...Twice they asked for clarification on his eligibility, TWICE he was approved by the T$$AA, Coach Lassiter has the forms clearing him to play, and to everyone I know it is apparent Gallatin did everything in their absolutely and without a doubt on the up and up. What is this incorrect information? If I tell one of my kids that they can do something TWICE and then punish them for doing it who is out of line? Lets hope The powers that be grow a brain before we wind up with another Brentwood Academy. Thanks again for all the support everyone. Wavelink....guess who???? or has Sqoshwave squealed???
  22. However this turns out for the GreenWave it will not be an easy road come playoff time. Dickson County, Franklin, Brentwood, and even Centennial have all developed great programs. My vote for game of the year to this point...Brentwood Franklin...WOW. I think my Wave should have a little more motivation against the Rebs though after last year. I just hope we get what we have EARNED. GWave1 I can't wait to hear what you have learned. Sounds promising. GWave2001 you are right about MacFarland. He was my pick for starting QB until about week 2. He is an outstanding athlete. I saw Jamo more as a utility man. Keep your chins up Green!!!
  23. Time to stop reading and start typing...I'm a first timer so be gentle. Thanks to everyone for the nearly unanimous support for my GreenWave. I told some of the young people here in G-town that this is just a bump in the road. We have survived coaches being murdered, players killed, rejection, dejection and yet the GreenWave spirit is still thriving. The T$$AA (man I love that) and a school with a bad case of sour grapes can't change that. To the MBA throng, some of our worst whippings have come at the hands of the BigRed. There is however a reason for the public / private split and it's hard to compare the two. Just a reminder to all you McG folks...untill the regions are realigned we have to look at each other every year. Gtown will be strong again next year and have on of the most talented freshmen squads to ever come through GHS so you guys better make nice! By the way, GHS freshmen's only loss........the BigRed (ouch) Gwave, Squosh, and all you other Wave faithful, keep the posts coming. Wireman
