  1. I just got word that JT Farrell's lung collapsed in practice. He is at Sumner Reginal over night, but that is all the info i have right now. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family, and hopefully a speedy recovery.
  2. #11 got ran over by #52, he did not like it so he took up boxing and puched the big guy
  3. Gwave1 and others, I have been out of the loop and really am excited about the season starting. Can someone fill me in on what has been happening with the team. Camp? How are we looking? Injuries? Any sophomores or juniors stepping up? Who are the senior leaders? Any information of interest before the jamboree Thursday? I noticed in the prospects the only one listed is Jay R. Harper. He is truly a great player, but I know we have more talent on the team than him. What about other players? Who is responsible for putting that information in? This is the year we have all been looking forward to! I can barely sit still waiting for the start of the season Thursday.
  4. To say our team is improving would be a considerable understatement. The offensive line came together today and we were able to produce yards against Sevier County and McCallie (a three-way scrimmage). I am amazed at the differences I have seen as the week is progressing! Defensively, they were just outstanding! With the exception of one touchdown pass by McCallie our defense really made a stand. I believe altogether we had about 3 sacks. I was very impressed! Fisher, Lauderdale, and Kemper are all back in the line up. I can sense that the team is really starting to stick together! They are unified and disciplined! I am proud to be a Green Wave Fan!!!!
  5. Well our Wave looked a bit more mighty today. They only had the morning practice with Sevier County, and then the coach gave them the remainder of the day to rest. I am sure it had something to do with the numerous injuries that continue to plague us. It seemed to me that today they looked a bit more cohesive as a unit. It is my understanding that Dontaye Hall and J. R. Harper will return on Monday. Tomorrow they only have an evening practice, but I am anxiously awaiting Monday. I know that this is a learning experience for them, and it is giving guys that have never played at the varsity level valuable experience that will be beneficial when the season starts. From Chattanooga, 12 days to showtime!!!
  6. As someone has already mentioned, this morning practice was with Powell and mostly the young guys. This evening was with McCallie. The scrimmage was pretty much controlled by McCallie. The goal line was more evenly matched. I saw some improvement from yesterday, but we still have a lot of work to do. Injuries: same as yesterday, except Lauderdale came back, and now include J.T. Kemper and J.T. Ferrell.
  7. Gwave, My reports are under a new topic... Green Wave Football Mc Callie Camp Check there for more news tonight...
  8. Gwave and other Gallatin fans, I am afraid our mighty Wave team did not look very mighty today. Gallatin scrimmaged Powell in the morning, and Powell was able to control the game on both sides of the football. When they wanted to throw... they completed, and when they wanted to run... they did. When Gallatin wanted to throw... they didn't complete, and when they wanted to run... they couldn't. In the evening they scrimmaged McCallie and did look improved from the morning practice. However, I was still disappointed. We have been looking forward to this year for a long time. We have watched this team grow and mature, and I was really thinking this year would be golden. Do not get me wrong; I know these are the first scrimmages of the season, and we will continue to grow, but today was a real let down for me. I still have faith that the coaching staff will pull this team together, and by the end of this camp, we will start showing our true capabilities. Injured players that started last year were numerous and may be a contributing factor to the performance today. On that list: Dontaye Hall, Rusty Fisher, Spencer Steelman, Spencer Lauderdale, and J.R. Harper. I am leaving some off, but I think those were the ones that had started last year. There were about 10 walking around that were not dressed. I sure am looking forward to a better day tomorrow.
  9. Gwave, I for one am ready for the season. The last I heard, Gleaves had knee surgery, but is back in practice. Who was it that gave us camp updates last year? I will be spending some time there this time and will try to help with some of those updates. The countdown to Green Wave Football 2005 has begun!
  10. Gwave, Tell us what else you know.....
  11. Lassiter did make some changes in the personnel last week, but they were either the wrong changes or not enough!
  12. I sure hope the Wave is up to the task. All depends on how bad they want it. Maybe the couple of losses will make them want it more. Hopefully, the coaches will do some rearranging in the play calling that will give them a shot.
  13. Biggreen, From your mouth to the coach's ears!!! Wavelink101, It isn't only playing four quarters, but the play calling needs to open up the passing game earlier... Gville80 and Biggreen, Thanks for backing me up about the senior players!! thumb I think it is time that we focus on this week's game. It is going to be a tough battle. So much at stake for both teams. So, who is going to start the new thread? GO GREEN WAVE!!!
  14. GWave1, I have also watched the sophomores since middle school. You are correct in stating that group is loaded with talent. I have watched the seniors since middle school as well. They also performed quite well in middle school on. We have lost a few of those guys since their freshmen class. However, just a few of those guys started varsity ball until this year. Maybe that is the reason the coaches are trying to get in as many sophomores as possible for the experience. I am just saying give the seniors their shot. They could let the seniors start and then put the sophomores in. Just seems to me they are overlooking some of those seniors in an effort to give the sophomores experience. I have no problem with a sophomore starting over the senior if they are truly the better player. But, I have watched some of these guys in practice and can't tell much difference athletically. The seniors have been there longer, given the program more time, and probably want it more, because it is their last chance. Wavelink101, I am a strong supporter of Lassiter as a person. I know when his kids are in turmoil he goes the extra mile to help them, including when the Clark boy was in the hospital. But, I don't have to like the plays he calls. And, since I am not a coach I am able to vent about that on CoachT. As far as the coaches not supporting the players I am referring also to some of the comments that have been made on the Saturday morning coaches show, and I am not necessarily referring to Lassiter's comments. We are all entitled to our own opinion of how things appear. That is why I am thankful I can vent on CoachT. We are going to have to change some things to get those next two wins and earn our playoff berth. In addition, Ben Miller isn't the only sophomore I look forward to seeing for the next couple of years. There are quite a few guys on that team I am keeping my eyes on: Glover, Fisher, Manning, Harper, Jones, Bell etc. Lots of these players have a real chance at going further with their football careers.
  15. GWave1, I also question the play calling. It is almost like the coach calls plays to protect a nonexistent lead until we are so far down we can't get ahead. Then, and only then, do we make some adjustments. When the game is over the coaches blame the players. Yes, our guys were flat, but the play calling didn't help. Why should they be at their best when the coaches keep calling the SAME plays and they are getting NOWHERE?? After the game, several coaches declined to speak to the players. It seems to me after a loss is when these young men need to hear from the coaches. They need to understand that they support them win or lose. Still questioning our talent use as well. Why are we not playing Ryan more under center? If we swap up the quarterbacks, wouldn't it give our opposition a little more challenge to have to think about the differences in the two? I still don't understand. In addition, yes, we have a talented young group of sophomores. You and I have some favorites we talk about. However, they still have two years to play and our coaches are letting some decent playing upperclassmen stand on the sidelines. Is that all in the name of getting the sophomore class ready? What about these guys that have devoted 150% of their heart, 6 days a week, for 3 and 4 years to the Greenwave Football program hoping to play their junior or senior year only to be told a sophomore that has about the same talent as them will be starting in their spot? What a smack in the face!! And to top it off, we are NOT WINNING!!! By no means, do I mean any disrespect to the starting sophomores. However, I overheard a sophomore that started for the first time Friday night, tell a senior parent (the parent of the child they were taking the spot of), "The coach told me he needed someone to start that had some athletic ability". The parent had just told the sophomore who their son was. I felt really bad for this parent. They said nothing in return except wished the young sophomore good luck. I know this senior and he is a fine young man and played quite well as a freshmen for Gallatin. However, he has never started varsity and is not playing as a senior. I can only hope the sophomore that said this has as much heart as the senior, when he grows up. In my opinion, the seniors that have given their all, went the distance, and still stand on the sidelines watching their teammates have more heart, dedication, and discipline than any person could hope for. On a positive note: Way to go, Aubrey!!!!! Okay, go ahead and bash me, I am done venting now!
  16. GWave1, I heard a few stories yesterday, I want you to confirm, if possible. I hear Gleaves hurt his MCL in practice Monday and is out. Also, I heard Brown will be playing linebacker. I can't help but wonder, are we using our talent wisely?
  17. Trapped, In February the hearing against the TSSAA will be heard. Whatchacallit: Do you think he isn't missing a year because he was eligible to start with? Huh? That is a thought! I did not intend to start this whole debate again. I know that it is not possible for others to believe that Gallatin actually did nothing wrong. As far as I am concerned, the whole mess was actually settled when the court's decided Shipley WAS eligible. So, there is my say, and the court's will have theirs in February. My intent was to remind our players, that they were defending the GREEN WAVE tradition. As for behaving myself, I will behave in the sportsmanlike manner in which I do with every game. I realize that every player is someone's son, nephew, grandson, best friend, etc. I do not Boo when the ref makes a bad call. However, I do cheer on my team and expect the same behaviors from the opposing team. I hope all the Green Wave fans will behave themselves in a way that makes our team, school, and town proud we are on their side. However, I would be lying if I didn't admit the joy of winning this one will be a little sweeter than most.
  18. Revenge? I don't think so, but it sure will feel good. Our revenge will come in February. However, for all of you seniors from last year: I hope the team sure does make you proud. I hope they make you feel better for all your hard work and dedication. I hope you feel GREEN WAVE PRIDE when they knock down McGavock and don't let them up for the full 4 quarters. To the juniors and seniors: This is the school that took your hard earned wins and put a big L on them. This is the same team that could have mentioned they THOUGHT their was a problem in August, but chose to wait until it was too late for you to make a playoff appearance. This is the same team that tried to get your brother Shipley off of the team, because they were such sore losers. To the sophomores: This team took away chances for your brothers to carry your mighty GREEN WAVE team to the playoffs last year. Our battle is just beginning, and we are counting on you to fill the shoes it takes to beat them HARD! To the TEAM: "Anything worth having is worth working hard for". You all proved last week that you can have anything you set your mind to. You have worked hard all year and deserve good things. You can go out on that field Friday night and bring in another GOOSE EGG to let them know they will NEVER break the spirits of the GREEN WAVE!!!! To GWAVE1, I hope this lives up to your expectations. Now, you let them have it.
  19. Shipley is no longer a metro kid. His blood now runs GREEN with PRIDE! Can't blame him for where he came from, but we sure are glad he is now on our side! One more comment about this game and then I hope we start getting hyped for REVENGE WEEK! Last week I considered the possibility of the week off really hurting our guys and contributing to injuries. Last night was possibly the toughest hitting game we had. To my knowledge no one walked away with any injury that will keep them from playing next week. Yes, several went into the night with injuries, and played their hearts out, but they all played to the end. Just some food for thought.
  20. I just heard on the coach's show that Fisher was just not quite 100% and that is why he didn't play. But, they also said he would probably be back next week. Good news! Fisher hope you heal quickly!
  21. Definitely Gallatin played the best game they have all year. I also said earlier that my head said Antioch and my heart said Gallatin. Hearts won!! It just seemed that we finally came together as one team and showed Antioch we were the "G-Unit"!!!!! I thought the 12th man was fantastic last night. The energy on the home side was fully powered. It seemed to really get the team into the game and motivated them to play their hearts out. I don't know why Fisher didn't get into the game. I am hoping they just wanted to give him another week to heal. I would love to have seen him get a sack similar to the one Walker got. I know he would have been another asset to the unit. Jones came back in this week and started with a pancake! Man he knocked that kid down and laid on him. I am sure he won't forget the night he played Gallatin at the pit! What a way to come back Jones, way to go!! Where do we go from here? I sure hope it gets better every week. With a win like that maybe the fans will start coming out of the woodwork every week and take us on through Dec... Oh wait, maybe I am speaking too soon. But, my heart said a win last night, maybe my heart is right on this too. thumb
  22. It is true. I saw it with my own eyes. It isn't as bad as what I thought it was going to be. It was a stupid pointless prank for our boys on homecoming. However, this may just be the incentive the Gallatin team needs to hit Antioch HARD!
  23. I agree with GWAVE1, this will be a tough game for both teams! I also agree with Oakland 2001 that it will probably be the best game in the state! GWAVE1, I have no idea why Ryan is not getting more time under center. I think you and I discussed the advantages of having both quarterbacks pre-season. However, the season is not turning out that way. However, the passing has increased this season, which is one good thing. As far as my pick, I believe that the Wave has straightened out some of the problems, and are continuing to improve each week. My gut feeling says Antioch, but my heart is crying out GREEN WAVE!!!!! I sure hope my heart is right!
  24. GWAVE1, Very good summary and thoughts about the game and our "G-Unit" team. However, I can't help but add just one thought. Is it possible that our off week hurt more than helped? It really seems to me that we have had a lot of injuries. I know Fisher's came the last game and he would have missed two games rather than one, but we started with what? 6 or 7 guys not dressed, and then three more injuries during the game? Was all this due to the week off, or can it all be chalked up to it is just that time of the season? I don't know the answer, nor do I know if anyone can be sure, but it is just another thought to ponder.
