  1. all have applied. Is McCollum seriously considering Baylor? Who is frontrunner at Bradley? Does anybody want that job?
  2. They were going to start interviews last week, but principal got sick. They may do a few interviews this week, but I would bet process will start back up as soon as school gets back from break.
  3. Sorry there hater, but I do know what I'm talking about. There is a big difference in how the large score differentials were produced. If you play all your kids and aren't full-court pressing late in game and you win by large score, nobody cares. No one wants a coach to tell his team not to play hard. The problem I have with Cleveland is when they are up by 50 and still full-court pressing with starters in game like they were last year against McMinn. I also don't have a problem with a coach playing starters through 3rd quarter if they have had several easy games in a row as you need girls to be in shape to play whole game. However, they shouldn't be full-court pressing and there is never a reason to have them in during 4th quarter of a 50 point game. It's just classless. If you want to defend it then that tells me all I need to know about you.
  4. It's actually win/loss record. I actually root for McMinn/ Walker Valley/ and Bradley as I have some allegiance to all three. Most of all, I want all the girls to play their best. Why? Because I just enjoy watching good basketball. I can't root for Cleveland because I'm not a fan of teams that try to run up score. I mean winning 96-16 is sad. You can't say that is a one time instance either as I watched them full-court press with starters in last year to put 100 on the board against McMinn even though they were up by 45. Of the games left on your schedule I would go to McMinn/Cleveland game. Meigs girls should win by 6.
  5. Well, if you were smart enough to look at the schedules you would have seen that you could watch 2 out of 3 games. Cumberland/Walker Valley played last night.
  6. Come over to eat some crow. The rest of the Bradley team stepped it up a notch last night and Pickel didn't have to do it all. Congrats on a great game. Boy is this district gonna be fun to watch this year. I could see Champ of district having four losses. Good luck to all the girls!!
  7. OldTimer- It is a big deal in McMinn County. McMinn isn't known for getting rid of many people. To transfer people you usually have to have a position open somewhere else to transfer them to. Also, it has to be in their certification area. You can't transfer Williams to elementary school if he is only certified in high school. Again, as of now there are no openings that I know of at all.
  8. Just trying to pull your chain. Both teams have excellent freshmen teams. Lambert of Central and Hamby of WV are going to be great to watch over the next few years. I just had to throw out the jab after several were proclaiming McMinn Central as best in state earlier in year.
  9. The only shame is that there aren't any teaching openings. If there were you might be able to get a couple of guys.
  10. The day before I said Derrick was my pick of the three. He still is my pick of the three, however if you throw Heath's name in the mix- he's my choice. As I understand, Heath has decided to pursue the job now. Since you want to know all about him, here's a link where you can read all about him and come up with your own conclusion. I will let you know that after MTSU he's been serving as defensive coordinator at Northwest Whitfield High School in Dalton, GA. Scroll down to page 16- http://goblueraiders.com/pdf/2003/doc950.pdf
  11. How can you name a coach without a principal? What person in right mind would apply for a job and not even know who their boss will be? Aren't they getting the cart before the horse? What if new principal had his own guy he wanted to bring in? You might get fired before you even get started. I'm confused. Taking applications for football coach and don't even know who principal is going to be- sheesh.
  12. I thought they were supposed to be all that. Walker Valley whipped them today and it wasn't even close. What's the spin gonna be this time?
  13. Who is going to be principal at new school? Has one been named yet?
  14. I wasn't at game so I have no clue about the call- but even the radio announcers say she got banged a little on the shot. These were jet supporters on the radio, so I don't think it was that big of an acting job. Now with that said, you usually don't get that call at end of game- especially at visitor's gym. So, I guess what I am saying is there is no need in degrading the McMinn girl saying how badly she missed and it being a complete acting job when even your own announcers thought there was some contact. As for the McMinn coach- I agree he shouldn't act like that.
  15. Disagree, I think Pickel will have to have 35+ for Bradley to win. I still think WV is best team in region. I think McMinn has best talent from top to bottom, but lack of depth and very little coaching is their downfall. Cleveland may be second best team and may contend for being best team once Simpson is back. i'll have to see how well she meshes in first. Cumberland is good, but they haven't played that well so far in season. If Bradley hits free throws or McMinn had more coaching- Cumberland would be 0-2. I still think they can get it together and it is sign of good team to be able to win when you aren't playing that well. I guess I would put region like this- 1)WV 2)Cleveland 3)Cumberland 4)McMinn 5)Bradley 6)Rhea Anyone in top 5 is good enough to beat the other though. Bbest of luck ladies!
  16. I agree, Walker Valley will win. I don't think it will be as close as you think though, unless Pickel goes for 35+. I'm predicting she doesn't, so I'll say WV by 12.
  17. Has there been any movement at Baylor. Is mum the word? I would think now that playoffs are over that there would be some info coming out.
  18. Don't think it will be Meigs. They won alot of close games this year just to finish fourth, chances of that happening again aren't as likely. I would say region will look like this- 1) Notre Dame 2) East Ridge 3) Polk 4) Meigs 5) Howard 6) Grundy 7) McMinn Central 8) Tellico 9) Sequoyah Howard is the team that is sleeper as they have alot of talent, just need a coach to harness it.
  19. If you can get Heath Davis, he's most qualified of the three. Bottom line is they don't know what teaching spots are going to be open, so until they do - you probably won't hear anything. I've heard Williams is going to stay on as a teacher, so that spot won't be open. If no teaching slots open up then they will have to choose between Gossett and Barnett.
  20. My personal choice would be Brandon Derrick of the three mentioned.
  21. Anything new? Will new coach be able to bring in any assistants? If so, how many?
  22. Are you talking about Gene Davis at Meigs, Derrick Davis of Polk, or the most likely Heath Davis- formerly of NW Whitfield?
  23. Shivy is good and Spencer is good as well- neither would see the light of day at TN as a RB. Some of you need to get out more often and watch some more football. Just because a kid makes some nice plays against 2A competition in TN doesn't make him as good as Barry Sanders. How many successful 175 lb RB's have you seen in the SEC over the last 10 years?
