  2. Oneblindref, You keep missing the point. His feet have nothing to do with his supporting parts due to the fact he is on his back. The fact that his back is out of bounds doesn't change his supporting points to his feet. He's on his back and thus his supporting points are his shoulders not his feet. He is out, top wrestler is out therefore the wrestling action is out of bounds.
  3. TDA, you may be confusing two different issues. The wrestlers should have been blown out of bounds at the :24 second mark since a supporting part of each wrester (shoulder(s) of the bottom wrestler and the feet of the top wrester) are out of bounds. One note here, it only takes 1 supporting point of each wrestler to be out of bounds for them to be out so it could have been one shoulder and one foot but here it was both shoulders and both feet. Now to comment on the pin itself since wrestling was allowed to continue. The supporting points (shoulders) of the bottom wrestler are in bounds so wrestling is still in bounds. It does not matter that the top wrestler is completely out of bounds. As refereneced above, you have to have one supporting point of BOTH wrestlers out of bounds for wrestling to be stopped as out of bounds. In a nutshell, the pin itself was fine. Wrestling action should have been called out of bounds at the :24 second mark.
  4. I respectfully, but whole heartedly, disagree.
  5. The fact that he bridged does not change his supporting parts. He is still in near fall critera thus his supporting parts are his shoulders NOT his feet.
  6. Yes, they were out of bounds at the :24 mark. When a wrestler is on his back, the supporting points are his shoulders. If a supporting point of both wrestlers is out, then the wrestlers are out of bounds. The bottom wrestler's shoulders are out of bounds along with the feet of the top wrestler which means the action is out of bounds. One supporting point of each wrestler is out so they are out. It doesn't matter if the bottom wrestler's feet are in since they are no longer his supporting points.
  7. That sound you hear is the clock ticking down on scottmike's time left back on Coach T, entertaining as it may be. Tick Tock

One of my favorite characters in one of my favorite flicks! "It's not right; this darn woman doing something like this to me. I used to have power. Now old age is creeping up on me." (slightly scrubbed for CoachT posting)
  10. Maybe you and Coach Vandergriff could both come out of retirement and co-head coach the Karns team. No way either of you could be an assistant to the other. LOL It would be worth the price of admission to see you guys in the same corner!
  11. Just for you Silver: The HS rule: ART. 2 . . . In dual-meet competition, if teams have identical scores, the following team tie-breaking system shall be used to determine the winner. a. The team whose opposing wrestlers or team has been penalized the greater number of team points for flagrant or unsportsmanlike conduct shall be declared the winner. b. The team whose opposing wrestlers or team personnel has been penalized the greater number of team point deductions shall be declared the winner. c. The team whose opposing wrestlers were penalized the greater number of match points for unsportsmanlike conduct during a match shall be declared the winner. d. The team having won the greater number of matches (including forfeits) shall be declared the winner. e. The team having accumulated the greater total number of falls, defaults, forfeits and disqualifications shall be declared the winner. f. The team having the greater number of technical falls shall be declared the winner. g. The team having the greater number of major decisions shall be declared the winner. h. The team having the greater number (total match points) of first-point(s) scored shall be declared the winner. i. The team having the greater number of points for near-falls shall be declared the winner. j. The team having the greater number of takedowns shall be declared the winner. k. The team having the greater number of reversals shall be declared the winner. l. The team having the greater number of escapes shall be declared the winner. m. The team whose opponent has been penalized the greater number of points for stalling. n. The team whose opponent has been warned more often for stalling. o. The team whose opponent has the greater number of points for all other infractions (i.e. false starts). p. If none of the above resolves the tie, a flip of a disk will determine the winner. Upon determining the winning team by use of the tiebreaking system, a single team point shall be added to the prevailing team. The method of recording the score in breaking team ties shall be the score followed by the letter of the criterion that broke the tie (e.g. Team A-16; Team B-17, criterion e). The college rule: 3.12 Breaking Team Ties in Dual-Meet Advancement Tournaments When two teams finish in a tie in a dual-meet advancement tournament, the following criteria shall be applied to determine a winner: 3.12.1 Greater number of victories. 3.12.2 Greater number of six-point victories (including falls, forfeits, defaults and disqualifications). 3.12.3 Greater number of five-point technical falls. 3.12.4 Greater number of four-point technical falls. 3.12.5 Greater number of major decisions. 3.12.6 Fewest number of matches forfeited. 3.12.7 Greater number of total near-fall points earned. (This should include additional points earned for excessive bleeding or injury when near-fall points are awarded). 3.12.8 Greater number of takedowns. 3.12.9 Greater number of reversals. 3.12.10 Greater number of escapes. 3.12.11 Greater number of riding-time points. 3.12.12 Greater number of stalling points. 3.12.13 Colored disc toss. One team point shall be awarded to the team winning by criteria. The method of recording the score in breaking team ties shall be the score followed by the number of criteria that broke the tie (e.g., Team A 17, Team B 16, criterion 3.12.5.) In regular-season dual-meet competition, team ties shall not be broken.

  13. [quote name="WrestlingGod Theres a lot of refs that get on here' date=' bororef, me, nashvilleref, just three for you....its not a big deal for someone to get on and give their predictions, ref or not, giving predictions isnt bad, calling the matches to make your predictions true is where the problem would lie...[/quote] And that is my point. There is a possibility that you and/or nashville ref could be calling a match involving these kids and the perception that you have a bias towards one or the other does not look good. Officials are not suppose to care who wins or loses. By making "predictions" as an official, you are sending the wrong message.
  14. What's shameful about an individual stating an opinion? Its merely an opinion. I'd suggest that you check this thread again as I'm not the only person that has listed their predictions. Hence the thread, predictions! No need to check the thread again.....I know it's predictions. The problem is that you are the only official I see on here making them. Surely you can see the issue here.
  15. surely you realize the possibility of him working a regional tournament and maybe even a state tournament if he is a TSSAA official. They are not supposed to be biased at all. While NashvilleRef may be the best official in the state, the PERCEPTION of him being biased is the point. if a ref has any affiliation with a team he cannot ref them. My goodness....he just gave his predictions for the finalists and champions for the entire D-II tournament and he could possibly be officiating it!

  18. Nothing new about this interpretation. It's just a point of emphasis this year for HS. It has been discussed at the NCAA level in the past. Here is your NFHS support for this ruling: Point of Emphasis for 2009-10 regarding Near Fall: Awarding Near-fall Points: Wrestlers are very good at creating quick near-fall situations. Before awarding points to the offensive wrestler, the referee must make certain that the defensive wrestler has been released to the extent that permits the possibility of self defense. A good example is the cradle. Using this concept, would mean that when the defensive wrestler comes out of criteria in a near-fall situation, the referee would make sure that the hands have been broken and the defensive wrestler has the possibility of self defense before awarding any near-fall points. Another example is tips or tilts. When the defensive wrestler comes out of criteria in a near-fall situation, the referee would make sure that the arm that has been trapped is released and the defensive wrestler has the possibility of self defense before awarding any near-fall points.
  19. obviously he's not a political science major Al Gore might have a thing or two to say about what the MAJORITY of voters had to say, huh Tex?
  20. The solution to the problem in this thread is found in the title of another thread. Have 2 polls, one for DI and one for DII, and then combine the two and call it the "Dream Poll". Problem solved. Go to bed. You're welcome.
  21. They are Mean Chuck Bean's groupies
  22. Mean Chuck Bean.....man, what a wrestling machine
  23. Serious question: Why does the team ranking wrestling poll combine both DI and DII when they are completely separate? This is the only sport where the poll combines the two. Why not rank them separately like other sports? This would allow other teams in each division to be ranked and thus promote the sport at these schools. I think we all agree that it would be great if the divisions were combined again but we also can agree that it will never happen. Maybe the 2 different individual ranking polls out there could start doing a division based team system if the existing Cabal is not interested in separating the two divisions.
  24. FYI The new rule only applies to the uniform. A head gear is required equipment and is not the uniform.
