  1. As for the Rocket defense causing several of those turnover, I only remember them causing two, interceptions. One of which hit a Cascade receiver in the hands and the Rocket DB did a good job of the tip drill. The other turnovers came from fumbled snaps in which the quarterback and center exchange went wrong and dont forget the bad snap to the punter. As for the game looking like a wresting match and you cant tackle a guy down to the ground but you can drive your feet, flat back him or cut hime and its a good block.(it occured on both sides all night long), a ref could call holding every play if he wanted. You look at any good offense exspecially the o-line and your best guys hold they just get away with it. If youll read my statement, I said CASCADE hurt themselves all night long with stupid/careless penalties. I do agree with your one statement though, the only thing that matters is the score at the end. But lets face the facts neither team will win many ball games just putting up 3-6 points. Good luck to both teams and may they both represent the New region 5 (old 6) teams well.
  2. Defensive Battle? I dont know about all that. It was one sided from what i saw. The Rockets didnt pass the 50 until the 4th qtr unless the champions gave them the ball off a bad snap, fumble,or turnover on downs in the champion territory. The champions were their own worst enemy collecting almost as many yards in penalties as what the champion defense gave up all night. Cascade moved the ball between the twenties but could never get past the red zone, hard to win many games doing that. The Rockets only score came after a bad snap to the punter which put them deep in cascade territory and they capitalized on the big turnover but what did they do the rest of the night. Their biggest qtr was the 4th and they didnt have many yards then either. If I was a gamblin man I would bet they didnt have much over 130 yrds all night, if they even had that. I think they only had 10-15 snaps the whole first half. The Cascade defense was tough last night but we'll have to see if they can keep it up. As for the Cascade offense ever time they had a big play they had a penalty. That little number 1 for them ran up and down the field but after ever big gain his run was usually taken back by some stupid/careless penalty, thus their own worst enemy.
  3. How did thoes 4 min. unfold ? I heard they scored 20 points, but how did it happen ?
  4. This could be a really good game ! The team in the best shape will pull away in the forth Qtr. to win this one. Both teams are huge up front, therefore the team who 's lineman have the most heart and desire will push their team to victory. I would recommend to go see this game, if you like old fassion football (three yards and a cloud of dust).

    Cascade Game?

I heard about Cascade on the radio also. It's no wonder there was a bench clearing brawl!!! When they played CA last week their head coach pitched a two year old temper tantrum out on the field and the ref threw a flag on him. Kids have to have good examples or they usually do what they want to. What a waste, Cascade was winning anyway.

I must agree with you wildcatpride, Cascade seems to be pretty bad right now. However I wouldn't call them terrible just yet. I've been attending Cascade games for the last 8 years and something isn't quite right , I'm not sure exactly what it could be. But what I see on Friday night, they don't seem very hungry. They appear to be in slow motion most of the time. Also they don't block or tackle as well as they have in the past. I wish I could get off in time to see a practice, in order to see if it might be the coaching staff or players not doing their job. Nevertheless, I will pick the Champions to have a break out night and surpass what they were able to achieve in week 1 and 2.
  7. I agree what's done is done. Both teams must move on and try to get better, if they are going to make the playoffs, in this very tough region. From what I saw Huntland looked ready to play and Cascade looked like all they needed to do was show up and they would win. Cascade must learn how to tackle and block for their backs and QB consistantly, if they are going to compete for a playoff spot. Huntland needes to be less predictable and play everyone like they played Cascade. If both teams can do these things, they will go far in ther region. Best wishes to both schools. I am SLOWNEZ
  8. Just so you know, coaches pick their own players for All District, then turn in who they want on the team. I don't like the fact that the coach of a team has the ability to blackball a player, if for some reason they don't always see eye to eye. I feel that all coaches throughout the district should nominate players to be voted on by all coaches(head and assistant)to get a true all district team. If I'm not mistaken this is how the All District tourney team is picked. Therefore why not use the same format for the regular season.
  9. Let me get this straight. You profess to be a Christian who finds it wrong to pray in public, at ball games, before ball games, or what ever it is about praying that offends you. Just because the government says its wrong. Dont get me wrong, I am not judging, I just would like to know what it means to you to be a Christian. I thought as Christians we were to try our best to live as Christ and surrender ourselves daily to his will, what ever that might be. God tells us if we are ashamed of him he will be ashamed of us. He also tell us we are either to be "hot" or "cold" not luke warm. As for God having a place in football, yes. He has a part in every day life from the time the sun rises til it sits, the air you breath and the food you eat. Now I understand that God is probably not for one team or the other but he is interested in the kids lives.
  10. Well, where do we start? Is there anything wrong with prayer before a game or practice? I would personally have to say no. Should you force someone to prayer or force religion down their throat, No. Jesus never did. You should live your life so that everyone knows what you beleive and that theres is something better than what this world has to offer. As Christians, we should stop looking for excuses and take a stand. Whether it be prayer or just your personal testimony, stand for what you believe in no matter the cost. I do coach hs ball and i do pray with the team before games, practices and even one on one. God has called us to reach the world for Christ and as coaches we are on one of the largest mission fields there is. I am not saying i am perfect and that i havent ever had to apologize for my actions but I believe its a growing process. If you believe its wrong dont do it but dont just stop because the courts have told us its wrong. They are also the ones that set the speed limits but who all follows those. Take a stand for what you believe and you will be rewarded later, no matter what it may cost you on earth. It may cost you friend, jobs and money but I would hate to miss heaven because i was to afraid to take a stand. GOD Family Football
  11. Theres no doubt that MP has improved with the new leadership. They will be contenders over the next several years but i believe that WC is still the team to beat in 2004. However, they make the playoffs no problem. Good luck, Region 6 is still one of the toughest around.
  12. Gopher, I believe that you have come up with you best idea yet, Shutting up. I would be willing to bet that any good head coach would say that he has good assistants. Take the assistants away and lets see how the coach does. 30-45 players, one coach, teaching each position, sounds like a loosing season to me. It sounds like to me that you are one of those great coaches in the stands or at least thats where you should be or maybe you were an assistant who just didnt get credit or maybe you were the head coach that got fired because you couldnt win but yet the school hired your assistant that could do what you never did, WIN. Whatever it is, Great assistants can make a great head coach and sorry assistants can ruin any coach.
  13. Who is this Shadduck guy and what ties does he have at Clinton ? Who will be his offensive and deffensive coordinators ? Will AC and OR walk all over the Dragons as usual.

Vols are you for real? 30-35 kids, 2hrs a day, at least 4 days a week. Sounds like the Raiders of old. Maybe they can finally get things turned around. Who all is helping Montoye? Is it just Montoye and Christian. Well it sounds like they are atleast headed in the right direction. Raiders keep up the hard work. Good luck!! Stick it to the region. 1. How will region 6 be this year? Who should we be watching for? How are the boys in baby blue doing / looking under the new leadership? Good luck RAIDERS!!!!
  16. 61a, I would have to agree. High school football is still the best type of football to watch. Its still pure, Kids playing for the love of the games and hoping to live their dream of making it to the big show. Good luck MC! Blue boy/Sinjin, Any word yet on who will be the new head coach! Any definate applicants?
  17. Burley, thanks! Well, the topic at hand, Not to offend anyone, but lets stop looking at the past players and what they did. True they are the ones that help build the program and set the foundation for what has become Raider Football. Try to focus on the present situation and what MC can do to return to the caliber of program that it once had. Stay behind the kids and try to focus on finding a new coach/staff that will be dedicated to the kids. All fans pay their money to watch the kids and if they disagree with a call they can voice their opinion but remember there is always a correct time and place for everything.
  18. Most of the canidates that are being talked about are coaching in East Tn. Are their any possible canidates from out side the East Tn. boundries. Does anyone know where to find a list of coaches being interviewed ?
  19. Well I apologize if you think i read more into it than you meant. I know you didnt say that they knew everything. So i guess we both read into each others post a little to much. As for the turnovers and bone head plays, that could be said for any team in the state. Thats just excuses. Dont get me wrong i am not saying that you are trying to make excuses for the team. Things happen, we just learn to get past them. Football is a game of inches and about 4 or 5 plays that will decide the game. I dont deny that they are both hard workers and dedicated teachers. However, as for me wanting Christian to get the job, well you read a little to much into that. I would have to agree with Blueboy on the change. I would like to have someone from outside the system. That being said, we both have our opinions but i believe we both want whats best for MC football; a Staff/Administration that is dedicated to the program and has the kids best interest in mind. Good luck MC!
  20. Blueboy, Has he finally turned in his resignation to the school board? I know you said he was suppose to do it at the next meeting. Sinjin, What does it matter if Christian is young or if Montoye has more experience. They both still have plenty to learn just like any one else. When you get to the point that you think you cant learn, its time to hang up the whistle and find a new profession. Look at some of the other coaches around the mid-state. I am not trying to be negative but I think sometimes we associate age with wisdom/knowledge and that dont always hold true. Its the STAFF and Administration thats going to turn things around, not just one coach. Good luck MC! Support the program and the kids.
  21. First off who cares what Bruceton's record was. Great talent, good talent or average it doesnt make any difference. A coach's job is to teach winning. Not just on the score board but in life. It dont really matter about the backyard ballers. Thats going to happen no matter where you are at. It comes with the territory. There will always be those who always no a little more than the coach. As for support of the program, i would agree totally support the program and stay behind the kids no matter what. However, MC will always be a place where the coaches no matter win or lose will be under fire. But thats is where every you may go that has a great tradition and respect. A coach will never make everyone happy. Good luck MC!
  22. Blueboy, When is the next board meeting this month? Has anyone put their name in yet? Do you know if anyone else is interested other than the in house coaches and maybe Rice? What kind of chances do the in house coaches have? Any? Will any stay if all they are offered are assistant positions. When will they make their decision on the replacement? Will they try to get someone in the sysem quick in order to be with the kids and get them ready for spring or will they just let them do spring and start next school year? Good luck MC. Orange, stick to the topic. who cares what rhymes.
  23. irecnso, You have to be more than exceptional to go play D1. No matter what level of high school ball you play at. I assume that you already know that though. It doesnt matter if you are 1A or 5A, private or public, you have to be a great athlete to PLAY D1, exceptional to PLAY D2 and above average to PLAY even D3. But there are exceptions to every rule. Theres a big difference between playing and just getting a jersey. And for MC not having anyone go D1, i reckon that you need to do a little research on MC football.
  24. Whats the news about MOORE COUNTY? One site says he is leaving, this one says he staying and another one says that the job is open. Whats the truth? Does anyone really know for sure?
