  1. Good to know that a Cascade supporter finally admits that they have never played "BigBoy" football. Couldn't have said it better.

    8AAA - 2013

Shelbyville has struggled so far and they will continue to struggle until they make a change at the top. The record speaks for itself. Had one good year when they had cooper years ago and could not get out of the district even then. Since then its been a disaster.

    District 9A

Community beat Smyrna 7-1 tonight at Smyrna. Community scored 7 runs on 7 hits while Smyrna scored 1run on 3 hits. Frost pitched the entire game throwing only 86 pitches. Nice way for the Vikings to start their season. They travel to Page on Thursday for a 6 o'clock start.
  4. The talent level might be down but how do you explain the state of the Athletic programs at Shelbyville? Some friends any myself were discussing this a couple of weeks ago as to how the programs at Shelbyville all seem to be down. I believe that the football team was a game or so above .500 for the first time in a long time but both basketball teams have been down for a few years, baseball has been bad for 4-5 years, softball has been down forever. Soccer has not been very good in a while. I don't believe that they even have a track team or volleyball or wrestling. How is that possible? This is a AAA school. Are other schools having the same problems simply fielding teams or is it just Shelbyville? I remember when I was in High School (20 years ago) Shelbyville was always tough in all sports. What has happened???
  5. With a couple of more wins their fans will come out of the woodwork.
  6. If you are this ignorant of football should we really expect you to know anything about Walking Horses? You probably left at halftime (after the Homecoming festivities) with the rest of the Lavergne fans.
  7. Your prediction makes it obvious that you know nothing about football. Hint: Don't go to Vegas !!! LOL
  8. It aint that far off Champ. Those two are like peas in a pod. My original statement stands. "Considering the source it makes perfect sense".
  9. No way the step-parent of a young man who is a transfer himself made this comment. Well, considering the source it makes perfect sense. Congrats to the Champions on a good season so far and Good Luck in the Sub State.
  10. The bigger concern to me would be ruling on a ball making contact with a base runner. If the batter lays down a bunt and makes contact with the ball on the way to 1st base he is out if the contact with the ball is made outside of the batters box. If he is still in the box it is a foul ball. For this reason alone I believe it should be mandatory to have the batter's box. Why would you not?
  11. Never made a trip to the mound. Shelbyville beats Columbia and their # 1 pitcher and UT signee Horne 1-0 !!! Shelbyville got a great outing by sophomore Emerson. No runs on 4 hits and had great defensive plays to secure the win.
  12. Wow! It has come down to name droppeing. I won't embarass you with the names of the major D1 talent that we faced, much less the future NBA players. Let's just say that in the bigger cities we have extremely fast competition EVERY NIGHT. If you were taking nine charges your team mates were getting left behind and you were slow enough to be at the back trying to help them out.
  13. It does not matter how or where you where you were raised. Mark my word, if you tried to take nine charges in one game you would pay a heavy price. Not saying it's right, just saying that that is the way we were taught. The coaches always say to give up your body and that is exactly what you would be doing so go ahead and take the charge. I took charges also but as it was stressed in an earlier post there are legitimate charges and then there is the "flop" or the "lean". That is the point here. I am all for good defense but your comment of taking nine in one game. As Dirty Harry said, "Go ahead, make my day" !!!!!!!!!!
  14. Where I come from if you set up to take that many charges you would never walk out of the gym without being on the way to the hospital. We had a guy take three in the first quarter a while back and by half time his nose had made contact with a knee while he set up in the lane in front of a high flying "charging" opponent. He got the call alright but he didn't play anymore in that game. We have a way of making you think twice before putting yourself in harm's way that many times. Just not a good idea.
  15. I am with Guru. Bearden wins it all. Other than the West Tn teams Bearden is by far the best. I think that you will see that just like stated earlier the Middle Tenn teams have been a little under par this year. Bearden beats White Station for the Gold Ball. Where are all of the Siegel fans? I can't believe that the "Nation" is this quiet. Have they finally decided to wait to talk until their team proves that they can play with the Big Boys to tell us how good they are? Might be a wise decision on their part. Either way, the Gold Ball will not stay in Middle Tennessee.
  16. Thats the point kids from all over the state and country in some cases were ready to move in and put shelbyville back on top. Coach Clark will be lucky to keep the kids she has. From what I hear Cascade is about to get some transfers. As I said earlier, if Big Tom is as good as you all say then I am sure that we will see him on the sidelines coaching very soon. It will be then that we will see if he is the recruiter that you all claim. I find it interensting that any school interested in him in the future should know that their local girls may as well transfer because the "World's Greatest Recruiter" has so many girls coming from all over the country that the local kids dont stand a chance. Good Luck Tom !!!
  17. I will say this about the posts I am reading. If these are the people who would have been supporting Tom Insell then I am glad that he did not get the job!!! What happened to the days when candidates for positions would congratulate the recipient of the position instead of bashing that person and the persons who did the hiring? It's a job and there are others available. If Tom is as qualified as you all seem to think then he should have no problem getting a head coaching job. Congrats to Coach Clark. Show some class people !!!
  18. To Hoopmd, While the Insell's did spend alot of time in Shelbyville lets not forget that it is Shelbyville who gave Rick his first coaching job. Please do not pretend that the city owes him anything. If anything it is the Insell's who should remember that Shelbyville and Mike Bone gave them the opportunity to coach. Keep this in mind also. Rick had NO HEAD COACHING EXPERIENCE WHEN HE WAS GIVEN THE SHELBYVILLE JOB. If Tom wants to be a coach then keep interviewing and working hard and something will come up but do not bash the Shelbyville administration for not hiring him for the first job which he applied for. That said, GO ALLISON CLARK. I am very excited that she has apparently been hired and am looking forward to seeing her on the sidelines and in the community.
  19. Thanks heyblue. The umps actually decided that both runners should advance and the batter got first. Seemed wrong to me but I wasn't sure.
  20. Runners on 1st and 3rd, two outs Ground ball up the middle which hits the umpire who is standing behind the pitcher and in front of the second baseman. What's the call?
  21. Good Luck with your coaching career PHYSEDTEACHCOACH. To make that statement about Jackson just ruined your chances of ever being considered an assistant for any coach who has half of a brain. I hope you are much more knowledgeable about another sport. If so, you might want to put your focus there.
  22. I'm with you Dad. Too quiet for me also. Can someone tell me what the strengths are for Blackman? Have not seen them play this year but I will be there to cheer the Eaglettes on tonight against the Lady Blaze.
  23. I was there DD. Siegel jumped out to an 11-0 lead but by halftime Shelbyville had whittled the lead to I believe 6 points. Shelbyville had the game as close as 3 points early in the 4th qtr but Siegel hit the free throws to close the game out and stretch the lead back to 10. Siegel has a ton of talent but they will not out-coach anyone !!!!!!! Hammonds was a total non-factor. I am not sure that he even scored. Props to Shelbyville for fighting til the end. As everyone knows, they are extremely short handed without Andrews and Trevor Reed but they never gave in and gave the Stars all they wanted. I know that you and all of the Lawrence Co students take alot of pride in your student section so you should know this; The Siegel Nation has been reduced to at best a small tribe. Our parents were louder than they were.
  24. The teams are Shelbyville as the lone representative from District 8AAA and Riverdale, Blackman and Lavergne from District 7AAA. Does anyone know what the match-ups are for Monday night?
  25. And just what was the purpose of this post?
