  1. Here's a tourney preview. Ooltewah is there too. Good luck to the Tennessee teams. http://www.gulfbreezenews.com/news/2008/1225/sports/026.html
  2. I'm not going to put them in order, but here's my top 10 based on schedule strength and wins & losses. Feel free to add another team and discuss. Add your input as none of us can be sure about all areas of the state. Also, some of these teams need coacht schedules updated. Mine are gonna be alphabetically listed: Austin East Bolivar Booker T Washington CPA Dyer County Fulton Howard Livingston Academy Mitchell Unicoi County
  3. Found it. Pretty interesting. GO LA! http://www.theandrewsinstitute.com/Newsroo...ontentID=100141
  4. Something like this. When the school was founded in the early 1900's, it was funded by a Christian organization, possibly a women's group. I believe it was a boarding school. When Overton County took over funding for the school in the 1930s or 1940s, they kept the name the same, Livingston Academy. Not a private school, but was funded by a Christian organization early on, thus the Academy.
  5. Gotta throw Livingston Academy in the mix. Nice showing to capture Midsouth Classic championship. Beating Clarksville, Cookeville, and Northeast. Those were LA's second wins this season over Cookeville and Northeast. GO LA!
  6. Gator. Thanks for your input. You do seem like a nice person. However, hasn't that .1% of Upperman's crowd been involved in something negative after a game at Upperman before? What happened last night?
  7. I think there has been props given to CC's team. Good shooters, quick, hard workers. Superiority doesn't win basketball games, at least not always. Cannon's coach seems to be doing a great job. Who outcoached who is in the eyes of the beholder. LA has lost 2 district games since Coach Melton has been there and this is his fourth year. Thats what, now 43-2 in 7AA for LA's coach. Was he outcoached in those two losses? Maybe. He may have been outcoached in some of the wins as well. How are we gonna know that? Thing is......he wins consistently. Three years and three regular season and district championships. Not to mention last years state tourney run. While he's been at LA, they've won between 75-80% of overall games. And have you seen the schedule they've played. I'd like to see another team in 7AA play LA's schedule. If they had the nerve. Just saying I'm gonna be sure I can back up my statements. I'm not saying you are wrong. Maybe he got outcoached, but he got the win. In your gym. Again. In a game everyone agrees had bad officiating. LA could lose in this district. We all know that. They have twice in three years, right. Most teams are gonna have their 'A' game against LA. LA lost by two 65-67 yesterday at Ensworth, the day after the "superior" talented team got outcoached. And like at Cannon, don't think LA played up to par. Players have to play the game too. By the way, Ensworth is VERY good. LA's 8-1 now. Can't wait to see LA with the monkey off their backs. Looking forward to Cannon coming back to LA. Lots of ball to be played before then.
  8. Well.......there were 57 walks called....32 in the girls game and 25 in the boys. 6 three-second calls in girls game on LA and 4 in boys game on LA. One of those on Kilgore as she finished a fast break???? One of those was on Dunn moving through the zone??? You're right. VERY difficult to get or keep rhythm with that many confused whistles. Refs congregated alot but never reached conclusions. TJ Smith undercut in the air on an inbounds ally-oop......not a good no-call. Really a wierd night. Moving on...........
  9. All in all not a bad win for LA. 15 points in what could be considered a hostile environment. LA's best game. Not by any means. But with three of their first players on the bench most or all of the second half for fouls and injury (Peterman, Jackson, Smith), not a bad job. Bench played pretty well. Ramsey had a good game inside. Lets give Cannon some credit. They are quick and play hard and shoot well from the perimeter, or at least they did tonight. They should get some good wins this year. Lets give King some credit. The student body is a little much and obstacles thrown on the court should warrant a technical. Very classy. There were 32 walks called in the girls game. The boys game was officiated just as odd. Not sure the total, but they called 4 walks on Peterman for LA alone. LA was called for carrying about 5 times. Not gonna say the refs were bad, just odd. Couldn't figure out which player fouled to shoot free throws??????? Come on. Anyway......good job to Cannon's team. Much improved tonight. Good win LA. Keep improving. Get ready for the next one.
  10. Always a good atmosphere at York.
  11. How is Carr from LA doing at Smith County?
  12. Does anyone else think this guy is really from JC and upset with JC?
  13. Great question! LOL! Shouldn't they postpone basketball season if basically the entire team is missing because of football? Thirteen players. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  14. UpWAY2late will have some splainin to do if posting this late again. Makes a good point bout focusing on Cookeville......then takes another stab at HHSfan. Walk the walk if talkin the talk, Sleepy. /sleep.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="-_-" border="0" alt="sleep.gif" />
  15. HHSfan. I think the comment made about Coach Wilson playing two games in two days was made in sarcastic fun. Someone posted earlier that Caruthers may have been a little tired because they had played the night before. I doubt anyone here knows anything about him. But like I said before, allowing that music confused some people, but anyway.
  16. Funny that HHSfan said.... "I didn't really care for Dunn's attitude during the game whether it was elbowing a freshman in the chest when he simply walks by, or grabbing the ball and rolling it after a basket. He is definitely a good basketball player, but up here at Tech he could be chewed up and spit out with his attitude. I was really looking forward to Dunn, because of the fact that I will get to watch him at Tech, but now I am not so excited..." Coach Sutton seems to have a different perspective doesn't he? /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> http://www.herald-citizen.com/index.cfm?ev...7C0E9AEF82DFCDF
  17. Cookeville/LA is a great rivalry. It's usually rough and entertaining. These games get ugly sometimes. Hope both teams come out injury free. Go LA.
  18. This has been very fun. We all know what we heard on the great sound system.....in both games. The refs even commented on it. If it's cool with the Harpeth faithful then have at it. Profanity is just tacky, especially at an amateur sporting event. People are going to see it differently. Lots of people probably think Dunn has a bad attitude but he doesn't. The opposition loves to hate the best players. It's nothing new. Chase is one that is motivated by it as are LA's other players. I think Caruthers is a great player. He does have confidence on the floor, but I don't think he has a bad attitude. Good luck to Harpeth. Go LA! KS.....I like reading your posts. I think you're knowledgable about the game. But here's some info. Down with the Sickness was cut off before he goes balistic on his mom. But have you ever listened to the chorus or read the lyrics? Seriously. And the other song. OMG. It has the F bomb bout 50 times in it. Playing it loudly doesn't change it. I'm sure you didn't realize it. Listen or read again! Good luck to you and look forward to reading more of your posts.
  19. Hey HHS Super Fan. Come on. Enlighten us more on how bad Dunn and LA are. If you're at a loss for words, you might get some ideas from that Havoc soundtrack.
  20. LOL!!!! Tell it like it is OCF. Tell it like it is.
